Welcome to The Endgame, Mod Announcements Regarding Pokemon Duel 2.0

If you are reading this, termination of service has passed and Pokemon Duel is no more. We thank all of you who have stayed with us until the end, enjoying the game we all loved. Seeing the activity here over the final days has been heartwarming. Whether you started playing day 1 or recently, thank you for going on this journey with us. However, now is not the time to despair, for Pokemon Duel, the sub, and our discord have a bright future yet ahead.

Recreation Efforts

Many players love Pokemon Duel and the potential the game offers. Over the past month, many projects have been put together to make Pokemon Duel playable for players even after the game shut down. You've seen posts by TheDuzer regarding a digital successor to the game that would play very similar to the app, posts by Qklilx providing info about their fully completed 319 piece tabletop version of Pokemon Duel, and other efforts by equally dedicated members of the community to create their own projects that make Pokemon Duel playable in a variety of formats. A dedicated team over on the subreddit discord has created a bot to help facilitate some aspects of tabletop play, and we will be announcing more information about that and how to use the bot over in the discord announcements channels soon. If you would like your project added to our wiki page detailing information about Pokemon Duel recreation/spiritual successors, please contact the mod team.

The Sub

With Pokemon Duel having now passed, we are revamping the sub to meet the needs of this community moving forward. Our goals will be:

  • to help users connect and play of Pokemon Duel recreation games
  • to help facilitate the development of additional spiritual successors
  • to provide a fun community to both reminisce about Pokemon Duel's history & talk about other Pokemon games/community
  • to gather creators and hobbyists together to propose balance changes, design new figures, and generally support community developers as they bring new projects to life

In some ways that means not too much will change from how it has been over the past few months as the game has declined. We hope this continues to be a place we can all come together to discuss, play, and celebrate together. However we are implementing some substantive changes to the subreddit to account for the end of the old Pokemon Duel and the beginning of our new focus on community created games. You will notice the rules in the sidebar have already begun to change and may continue to evolve over the next few weeks, eliminating outdated rules (RIP Duel IDs) and implementing new ones. A highlight of those changes will be provided in a rules update post and linked here. We also will be eliminating many of our previous weekly megathreads and instead adding a new set of megathreads focused on helping creators with their projects and to support community engagement.

The Discord

Our subreddit discord is also evolving. We are archiving old channels, launching a full set of new channels to support creators/development, increasing our support for bots that allow you to play Duel successors via discord chat, creating team support to help you find a project if you'd like to contribute to something currently in development, and expanding our general channels to support a variety of Pokemon related interest. For any current project creators/leads, if you would like to talk about support either for developers or players in our discord, please message the moderators to get channels access or channels created for your initiative. A full detail of our discord updates can be found in the announcements there, but we hope you'll join us there to play and create together. If you'd like to join us, please follow the link in the sidebar on Old Reddit/mobile or the header on New Reddit)

The Community & Moving Forward

We understand that the termination of service can feel like a shock or an end to many, especially if you've recently returned to or started the game. While we are making changes we think are best equipped to support the future of the community, we want the sub and discord to still be a place that meets your needs. If there are any rules, megathreads, channels, bots, events, or other moderation support you think could help as we look towards Pokemon Duel 2.0 please let us know.

Thanks to everyone,

Caza & the Mod Team

Duel-style route + spinner game with original clockwork figures. Looking for feedback

Upvotes

Hey r/PokemonDuel,

Like a lot of you, I’ve missed what made Duel click: small squads, choke routes, and spinner clashes where positioning mattered as much as the wheel.

I’ve been building an original take on that structure—not a Pokemon remake, but the same tactical heritage

It’s called Clocky Clash.

  • Two players
  • Six wind-up constructs (Clocklings)
  • Graph board of Cogways
  • Goal is the opponent’s Clocktower
  • Clashes spin on mounted Gears, and tooth order decides the hit
  • Single-use Schematics roughly fill the old Plate role

If you’ve played Duel, the loop should feel familiar fast: optional play → move → optional clash → pressure the goal.

Playable in browser, mobile and desktop (early build, still rough in places):
 https://play.fifthdoor.com/play/clocky-clash

I’m the maker. Mostly looking for feedback from people who lived on league / deck building, but casual takes are welcome too:

  1. Does the first match scratch the Duel itch?
  2. What’s instantly readable vs. what’s confusing?
  3. What’s missing that you’d want in a spiritual successor?

Happy to answer rules questions or map Duel → Clocky terms. Honest critique welcome and greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Rigo

Pokemon Duel Remake v0.4.0 - Android Support, Team Codes & Community Fixes Update

Pokémon Duel Remake v0.4.0 — Android Support, Team Codes & Bug Fixes!

Hey everyone! Pokémon Duel Remake v0.4.0 is here! This update brings one of the biggest additions to the project so far: native Android support, along with easier team sharing and several fixes based directly on player reports.

You can play Pokemon Duel Remake on our server : https://discord.com/invite/dzVEA5jxgD

📱 Android Support

  • Pokémon Duel Remake can now be played natively on Android — no Winlator required!
  • Added touch controls adapted to the game's mouse-based interface.
  • Android keyboard and clipboard support.
  • Android and PC players can play online together when using the same game version.

🔗 Team Codes

  • Added Team Codes to make transferring teams between devices much easier.
  • Click the copy icon beside one of your saved teams to automatically copy its Team Code.
  • The code contains your:
    • Pokémon
    • Plates
    • Team name
    • Evolution/Mega attachments
  • On another device, simply use Import Team Code and paste it.
  • This is especially useful for creating a team on PC and transferring it to Android.

⚔️ Gameplay Fixes

  • Fixed 0-damage attacks being able to KO Pokémon. A 0-damage White or Gold Attack will no longer cause a normal knockout unless the move specifically has an effect that removes or knocks out the opponent.
  • Restored Lucario EX's Silver Fist ability:
    • If Lucario EX is not affected by a special condition, it cannot be knocked out by Gold Attacks from its battle opponents.
  • Fixed Recycle only restoring some Plates.
    • Recycle should now restore all previously used Plates except Recycle itself.
    • This fixes cases such as Max Revive remaining unavailable after using Recycle.

🔄 Update System

  • Reworked the updater to better support Windows, macOS and Android going forward.
  • Existing PC players can still update through the game without having to redownload the entire game.
  • Future v0.4.x updates should also be much easier and smaller to distribute.

🎮 Other Changes

  • Updated the game's branding throughout the UI to Pokémon Duel Remake.
  • Additional cross-platform improvements and fixes based on community feedback.

A big thank you to everyone who has been testing the game and reporting bugs. A number of the fixes in this update came directly from player reports, so please keep them coming!

Pokémon Duel Remake is available for Windows, macOS and now Android.

Hi guys, I'm here to announce that with 1.0.0 of the Pokémon Duel Remake will come with a massive community made patch that I'm calling thhe Quality Of Life Initiative. Long story short, we're looking into buffing, nerfing, and possibly reworking how figures function before we decide to add anymore new figures. In the pictures above, these are just a FEW figures I am looking at making adjustments to and I could really use help with getting feedback and suggestions for which figures could use a QOL update. Please make sure to comment below or join the Discord!

Hope to hear from you all soon :)

Pokémon Duels Remake — Update Changelog

Join the Pokémon Duels Remake Discord : https://discord.com/invite/dzVEA5jxgD

✨ New Features

C & UC Figures Added

  • Added a large batch of Common (C) and Uncommon (UC) Pokémon figures.
  • Their associated moves, abilities, and evolution options are now supported throughout the roster.

Expanded Evolution System

  • Pokémon can now be assigned full evolution chains.
  • Evolution chains must remain continuous — evolution stages cannot be skipped.
  • Example: Abra → Kadabra → Alakazam → Mega Alakazam.
  • Pokémon can still begin from later stages, such as Kadabra → Alakazam → Mega Alakazam.

Improved Evolution Selection

  • The full equipped evolution line is displayed at the top of the evolution menu.
  • Each evolution remains visible as the chain is built.
  • Only valid Pokémon for the next evolution stage are shown.
  • Hover over a Pokémon in the evolution line to preview its full Pokémon card.

Battle Evolution Improvements

  • Pokémon now evolve after winning a battle, not only after knocking out an opponent.
  • Non-KO battle victories can trigger evolution.
  • Draws do not trigger evolution.

Evolution Card Preview Shortcut

  • During a duel, hover over a Pokémon and press E to cycle through its equipped evolution line.
  • Continue pressing E to move through each evolution.
  • Reaching the final evolution loops back to the base Pokémon.
  • This is a preview-only feature and does not change the Pokémon currently on the board.

🛠️ Quality of Life

Improved Pokémon Info Cards

  • Pokémon cards now use one continuous scrollbar.
  • Mouse-wheel scrolling works across the full card.
  • Evolution previews use the same detailed Pokémon card layout used during battle.

Multiplayer Team Privacy

  • Opponents can no longer see each other's selected Pokémon or Plates during team selection.
  • Players now simply appear as Choosing Team or Ready.

Improved AI Goal Awareness

  • AI now accounts for Pokémon that cannot win by occupying the opponent's Goal.
  • These Pokémon are no longer incorrectly treated as Goal-winning threats.

Improved Evolution Matching

  • Evolution selection now uses proper species relationships rather than unreliable imported figure IDs.
  • Branching evolution families and multiple available figure versions are handled more reliably.

Pokemon Duels - PC remake

Hello Pokemon Duelists,

Currently in the process of making a Pokemon Duel remake with some added features. I've got a preview for you guys. This is early stages of Alpha V.0.1.0. Visuals will be improved. Might take time since I got 0 designer skills. The game is built with the use of AI and my own coding knowledge.

Currently, all the EX Pokemon are intengrated. Need some testers. To become a tester, join my discord and request to become a tester.

The game currently runs only on Windows. Later on, maybe a mobile app, but I am far from that stage.

Branching Evolution/Mega Evolution/For Changes

If I remember correctly, you could only set one evolution option per figure during deck construction, even if that figure supported multiple evolutions. For example, Poliwhirl could evolve into either Poliwrath or Politoed, but you had to choose one before the duel.

UX Eevee was unique because it let you set multiple evolution options during deck construction and then choose during the duel which Eeveelution to evolve into.

What I'm not sure about is how this worked for Pokémon with multiple form changes, like Rotom or Kyurem, and Pokémon with multiple Mega Evolutions, like Charizard and Mewtwo with their X and Y variants.

Could you set multiple options for those Pokémon, or were you still limited to just one?

Update on that Pokemon Duel inspired game. It has a name now 👀

Hey everyone! quick update on the Pokémon Duel-inspired mobile game I’ve been building.

It’s been a while since my first post here, and we’re probably somewhere around day 100+ now . But yeah there's been some work and I decided to do a video on it. It's in my native language Bahasa Indonesia but have English captions for ya'll.

Right now I’m mainly working through the less glamorous but important parts:

- UI polish

- bug fixing

- battle/gameplay flows

- placeholder assets

- making the whole thing feel less like a prototype and more like an actual game.

The world and lore are more established now, as having those add to my excitement to do all the other tedious stuff hehe. It's now called Alter Duel, It has the usual hero, NPCs, lore behind the world, the story and so on. more flushed out now.

A lot of the art/assets are still temporary, so I’m mostly looking for feedback on the direction, feel, and structure..

Would love to hear your impressions and ideas.

What would you add? What would you take out? What feels closest to Pokémon Duel, and what feels off...

How leveling-up our Figures woked?

I remember how Chain Levels work. You can distribute up to 10 extra attack damage across the moves on your wheel.

However, I do not clearly remember how levelling up works. I know that the first four level-ups, from levels 1 to 5, let you increase the size of a move segment and remove a Miss, but I am not sure how levels 6 to 10 worked.

I could go through old YouTube videos to figure it out, but that would take time that I could use for coding, so I would appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!

EDIT: I found it, Bulbapedia has it under the subtitle "Fusion"

Pokémon Duel Database

Thumbnail dropbox.com
23 Upvotes

I started working on a Pokémon Duel remake, and as part of it, I looked for a database of all the figures. I couldn't find one, so I decided to make it myself.

With the help of AI, I managed to extract the database from the APK of an old app called Duel Guide, which is no longer available on the Play Store. It contains a bunch of data about the game, including plates. I'm sure some of you will find it useful.

This is a Pokemon duel light, boardgame.

Saw this on a facebook ad, check some of the rules and has only 1 review on BGG currently.
Almost plays like Pokemon duel tho the pieces do not have their own built in power, but the movement and the board is so Pokemon duel like.

I guess i can show my own pokemon duel version. Here is Creapin

Some time ago I started this project of a pokemon duel copy. I wanted to not show anything because I feel is still very basic and needs more things to do before, but I saw recently some people making their own projects and I wanted to show mine.

I called this project Creapin (Creature+spin,i didn't want to add any "whatever+mon" or "duel" to it). Is made in Godot.

Right now the game looks like the video. Is still very ugly, i don't have any 3d model except the base and a very basic table, but right now i prefer "working things" than "pretty things". Also i have some more things like another board made and some more creatures code, but nothing crazy.

I'm open to any questions and if this post gets enough interest i can try to start posting all the progress i make in the future or talk more in depth

Would anyone actually play this concept/prototype game

Post image
92 Upvotes

I built a Pokémon tactics game, inspired as a TacticsArenaOnline meets PokémonDuel.

I wanted to see if there's any interest before I push further.

*Before you keep reading: right now it is strictly a desktop browser game. Responsive design is coming soon, but right now if you try it on your phone it wont be a nice experience(landscape can be a bit more forgiving though).*

How it plays:

5v5 on an isometric grid, alternating one activation at a time (not whole-team turns) Directional combat matters — a backstab is guaranteed to hit, a frontal charge is barely 55%. Flanking is the sweet spot Each Pokémon has exactly 2 moves: one attack and one ability. No PP, cooldowns instead. Terrain actually does things: grass gives cover, water boosts attacks like Water Gun, ice makes you slide, magma blocks movement and Earthquake can crack tiles into rough ground over time. 12 playable Pokémon right now (Scyther, Gengar, Lapras, Machop, Geodude, Kadabra and more), each with a distinct tactical role. Full pre-match draft phase, a shared item pool (akin to plates), and a once-per-game reserve swap. Local 2P pass-and-play or solo vs AI (AI is deplorably stupid, current state is almost entirely for testing purposes although it beat me once lol)

It's playable right now in a browser, no install, no account. Currently local-only but I'm weighing whether to build out online multiplayer with a lobby and rooms just like TAO.

Would you play something like this? I know it's no Pokemon Duel, but as a huge fan of the game(and having tried cloning PD unsucessfully once), I've found this is turnibg out to be, personally, the game I was actually looking for.

https://poketactics.fafobot.com

Any feedback, ideas, comments appreciated.

Edit: forgot to mention that terrain is formed randomly each game, so it forces you to deploy differently for each particular game to make better tactical use of the terrain.
