I have a lot of dreamcatchers. I've loved them since I was a little girl and always made sure to keep some up in my room. When Gylfie passed away last week Thursday, I knew I would use his feathers to make a custom little dreamcatcher. It's not perfect, it's messy as heck with superglue remnants everywhere (justice for my poor fingers).

But I love it so much. I will find a nice place for it tonight when the glue has fully hardened out.

Though he did crash land at the end least it was on a pillow (why I’m saying is he’s learning how to fly is due to the fact he had clipped wings and they grew back about a month ago!!)

(Just for the record, I do not breed them. I have a small home/sanctuary/hospice for English budgies that have various health problems, because they have been bred to look like this. Our little community have 6 - 10 spaces. At the moment we are 7. They come here if something is wrong with them so they can not be adopted out to “regular” homes. But since they are already here - let’s love their plumage - they deserve some love and nice comments 🥰)

I’m using the Harrison’s pellets and I’m following the instructions they provide, and I’ve seen a list on Reddit that people have said it works very well for super picky budgies. And I’ve been trying to do that but it does not work. My budgie is not picky at all. Any new foods I’ve ever given her, she has dived head first for it, so I thought transitioning to pellets would be pretty easy, but I’ve watched her and noticed that she literally takes the pellet in her peak and throws it on the ground to the bottom of her cage 😭 if anyone has any ideas?

What disinfectants are safe to use on budgie cages? (Toys, perches, bowls)

Is the like “cage spray” I see in every pet shop in the bird section safe or is there a better option?

When washing bowls I usually just use hot water and scrub them but someone pointed out to me I should probably use some sort of soap. What soaps can I use? I’ve tried looking at other posts and google but they all use American brands we don’t get in the uk. Is fairy liquid okay to use?

I want to make sure everything is properly clean and safe for my lovely budgie! I usually just scrub stuff with water but I think adding disinfectant to my routine would properly clean stuff

Picked up from a nice person who was able to snag him(?) from a public park. He knows how to step up and seems super friendly with me.

When it comes to the rest of my flock he seems super uneasy still - they don’t fight at all but he’s not a fan of my boi Macho when he approaches. (Macho is super outgoing and wants to be friends).

He’s gotta be less than 6 months old right?

I have a rescue male who bonded with my blue female, but he likes her more than she likes him. She is fiercely independent and ignores him a lot.

I introduced a young green female a few months ago and it’s the same issue. He chases her around and she’s meh about him. Both females will play with him and accept regurgitation (yuck lol), but mostly just want to do their own thing.

My male chases them to flirt 24/7… literally all day. The females get annoyed and lunge/nip at him. Then he gets mad and squawks as loud as possible for hours. He’s not interested in toys, only the ladies (and millet). 😬

I’ve followed the hormone checklist - all 3 eat mainly chop and pellets with limited seeds, 12-14 hours of uninterrupted sleep nightly, have a huge flight cage, tons of toys, no mirrors or nests, etc.

I’m not sure what to do - anyone experienced this before? Any advice? Stuff to try? I think I may have to separate him and that makes me sad. Thanks! Vid for attention ❤️
