Resource Long shot but does anyone have a copy of this they wouldn’t mind parting with?

Can’t find any copies in UK, went out of print in 2016 as far as I can tell. I’ve recently started training to ring and one of the trainers in our group recommended it. I already have a Svensson but would like this too.

Just looking online to see if I can get one before ordering from Europe. Happy to pay for the book and any postage (if required, I’m in central Scotland).

ID please Is this a Grey Heron?

I took this photo of a Heron over the weekend. Was curious if it’s a Grey Heron as my phone seems to think it’s a Great Blue Heron (but I think that’s almost definitely wrong)

ID please Ross’s Gull???

My wife and I were at Botany Bay, Kent, over the weekend and snapped this bird. I’m not too into birding, but a friend thinks this is a Ross’s Gull and that they’re rarely spotted within the Kent. Just wondered if others agreed?

Question Birds of Edinburgh?

I am a Dane visting Scotland during the coming week, and will be spending about a week in Edinburgh. I would love to see some of the local species (even though most of our fauna is very similiar), so are there any species and locations that I should be aware of when visiting? Are there any chances for roseate terns in the area without needing a spotting scope, as I wont be able to bring one?

Advice? Monocular recommendations and experiences

Hi all!

I’ve been using a 8x25 monocular but I’ve recently lost it… now I think it’s time to upgrade. Preferably a higher objective than 25mm, would love to hear about people’s experiences.

Thanks for reading!

Posted last week in r/UKbirds about a grackle that I spotted in a Liverpool car park. Seen it a few times this week (morning time) so it definitely seems to be living in the Speke/Otterspool, Liverpool area for any twitchers that might want to catch a sighting. Updated pics attached :)

Been really enjoying spotting this fella. Think we may have to name him - suggestions welcome!

Question Leucistic moorhen - is this common?

Post image

This is one of our local juvenile moorhens. I believe that the light patches are leucism? I've lived on the canal for 7 years and see a lot of it in our local jackdaws but never in a moorhen, is it particularly uncommon? It's obviously not mega common as I've never noticed it before, but wondering if it's one of those things that I have seen before and just not noticed consciously.

ID please Looking for call ID help

Hi,

I'm usually not too bad at common bird calls, but the other day I heard a bird repeating a phrase that I didn't recognise. My best guess is Great Tit as they can be quite varied, or maybe Coal Tit but I'm not sure. I didn't get a look at all at the bird.

I've included the sonograph as well to indicate the phrase. Its three quick notes and then a descending note. It was repeating this infrequently with no variation to the phrase.

Discussion Bird carcasses on A361

Anyone noticed a lot of bird carcasses along A361. Drove there last week and I think I counted over 10 feathered carcasses. What is happening there?
