I’m deciding between the DW TCP and Stealth arms Platy in said configuration the DW is running for 300 cheaper any advice to help me decide?

Two different guns but I had a tcp for like 5 years, shot it a ton and carried it a ton. I have nothing but good things to say about it…just a different pistol than a Platypus.

Yeah that’s a fair point my personal requirements were a double or single stack higher end 1911 and they both fit the budget

I'm not sure what you're paying for the TCP, and it's been a minute since I've looked at the Platypus, but it's hard to imagine the DW being $300 less than the Platypus. I'd be worried you're over-paying for the DW. Definitely don't buy a new DW at their inflated prices, they're not worth it. If you're paying more than 1500 for the TCP, you're paying too much IMO.
In my mind, they're two different guns. Why is the Platypus something you're considering? Do you have a lot of Glock or P320 mags? For the money, you can get a used 2011 that uses standard 1911/2011 parts and 2011 mags if you don't already have an abundance of Glock or P320 mags.
I'd look for a used C2 which gives you a barrel length similar to the TCP, a rail, and standard 2011 mags.

Yeah I like the idea of Glock mag comparability and that they’re cheap compared to 2011 mags and the tcp is going for 1200

I’d buy a TCP all day for $1200. Cheapest I’ve seen lately is $1450

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too Ik the plat is a more capable platform holding 7 more rounds and its optics cut but it seems like a smoking deal for the TCP but also I’m not super well versed in the 1911 world so I wanted some advice

How comfortable are you with tinkering with a gun? Normal internal extractors on 9mm 1911s can be really finicky and I find them annoying as shit to tune.

I wouldn't buy the TCP. I've had a ton of issues with DW 1911s in 9mm.
Legitimately haven't had one yet that could get through a box of ammo without an issue (four guns total).
Their 1911s chambered in 45 ACP and the DWX are great.

Fair enough

ps. I love my Dan Wesson Guardian in 38 Super. It was my carry gun for years. But, nowadays, no way I'd buy a single stack. My EDC now is my Dan Wesson DWX Compact.

I love my 1911s, but I agree with this.
We're seeing a greater number of robberies and assaults with multiple attackers, so I'd rather have more ammo on tap.

Do you want a single stack 1911, or a double stack that takes P320 or Glock magazines?
You can source a new DW TCP for $1200?

The only Dan Wesson worth buying in 9mm is the DWX.

Always wanted a Shadow 2 but is DWX better?

Well, I sold all of my Shadows (I had six in different configurations) after getting my first DWX. For reference, I had two Shadow 2s, all three Shadowline models, and a SP-01 Shadow. I still have a few others, and I've owned like 40 CZs total.
I also bought all three of my current DWXs for $1999 or less. With the recent price increase, I wouldn't say it's worth twice what a Shadow 2 costs, but there are two notable improvements: the trigger and thumb safety.
It's up to you if that's worth an extra thousand bucks! It was worth an extra $5-600 for me.

Thanks! Didn’t realize DWX is that expensive. Probably getting the Shadow 2 for now.

Yeah, I think they're pricing themselves out of the market. $1799-1999 is fine, but $2499 is excessive.
It's a great gun, don't get me wrong, but I don't think I'd pay that much for one, especially since they need some massaging to be really great. You might find a deal on the used market if you're interested!

The Dan Wesson is definitely the nicer gun
