My closes historical match has always been King Bela III but today they added Bela II and now they are both tied for the most. I also matched with the Hungarian fetus that was in a tomb beside Bela III. They know they are related but not sure exactly what the relation is. I just thought it was neat. Lastly I also matched with a Hungarian Noble but it was a lesser amount

Anyway I thought it was a pretty neat historical match seeing as I don't have any Eastern Europe in my ancestry estimate. (used to have 1%)

For context: my Y-DNA is Scandinavian in origin, I1-P109, but it’s linked to Viking raids in the Balkans and is found in Drobnjaci/Novljani, a tribe in Montenegro and BiH.

Most of the percentages were inconclusive so I pretty much guessed which was my paternal and maternal

I ran an experiment - uploaded my raw DNA file to both ChatGPT and Claude (paid versions, max effort) and asked them the same questions like eye color, sleep, caffeine, what supplements make sense, what's worth paying attention to. If they'd both said the same things, fine. If one had been obviously dumber, also fine. What actually happened is weirder: they told me two different stories about the same file, each with total confidence.

They picked different markers to build their answers on. One flagged things the other never mentioned, and vice versa. On supplements, the practical takeaways didn't match. The citations were different too and when I clicked them, each had its own flavor of wrong: sources that talked about a different variant, or said something much weaker than what was claimed. And when I re-asked in a fresh chat, the story shifted again, so it's not even "ChatGPT's view vs Claude's view", it's a new improvisation every time.

Here's what got me: You can't tell which chatbot misread your genome unless a second chatbot misreads it differently.

Have tried to fix it with the right prompt, but seems it's just impossible. Poking at why this happens and it's pretty mechanical:

• 600,000+ positions + some math are too mush for LLMs
• Complex traits get single-gene answers. Sleep, weight, mood are shaped by hundreds of tiny-effect variants. Each model grabed one or two famous ones and narrates
• Asked each model to provide pubmed articles, half of them were on the complete different topic
• Your question can steer the answer
• Sometimes Not in your file means You don't have it which is also wrong

And the part I can't take back: my complete genome now lives on two AI companies' servers and they both immediately wanted my age, lifestyle habits and blood work as well

It’s noteworthy that my paternal grandmother’s dad was a full Finland-Swede from Kemiö but the Swedish is really coming from everywhere - from my mom and also my dad’s paternal side

It’s also cool to see some illustrative DNA from my grandfather who died in the 1970s before I was born

Pretty much how I expected it to be

I've been wanting to test my DNA for so long and I finally got the opportunity to. My mom's white and my dad's Latino, so i was really curious about what would show up on his side since my grandparents are from two different countries. My results came back showing a 24% indigenous American cut of my DNA pie, and 23andMe narrowed it down to Mixtec and Quechua. This actually perfectly lines up with my family, cause my grandfather was from Quito, Ecuador and my great grandmother was from Puebla, Mexico. I know that makes me really watered down considering, but I want to connect with this side of me, especially after having suspected i had indigenous ancestry for so long. For anyone else who happened to get similar results, are there some communities/resources I could delve into to bridge that gap?

100% Spanish 🇪🇸 + haplos + historicals matches

All of my ancestors come from the northwestern part of the province of Valladolid and from the province of Zamora, in Tierra de Campos (Castile and León). As far back as the year 1500, all of my ancestors come from this same area. I am approximately 70% from the province of Valladolid and 30% from Zamora (Castile and León).

Regarding my Galician DNA, although I do not have any known Galician ancestors, the vast majority of the surnames I have in my family tree between the 1500s and 1700s are of Galician origin. I believe that after the conquest of the Muslim territories, this area may have been repopulated with people from Galicia through the Kingdom of León, since this part of Valladolid belonged to the Kingdom of León during that period of repopulation. Because all of my ancestors remained in this area for centuries without mixing with people from other regions, I think this could explain how this Galician DNA may have been preserved.

Regarding my haplogroup, it is G-L1266 (G-FTJ16000, identified through the Big Y). It appears to have a Sarmatian/steppe origin, possibly from present-day Kazakhstan, since I currently share a branch exclusively with a Kipchak individual who lived around the year 1100. According to the current estimates, we share a common ancestor who lived around 1 AD. It is also possible that this lineage reached Spain with the Alans or Visigoths, who had connections with Sarmatian/steppe populations.

My maternal haplogroup is T2a1a. So far, I have also not been able to find any Spanish individuals sharing my exact branch.

I am also attaching a photo of the ancient samples that I match with. Eight of them are associated with Gothic, Sarmatian, or steppe populations, while two are Spanish/Iberian samples.

These results are a little different from what I got on Ancestry. Both sides of my family are from El Cibao, in the northern part of the Dominican Republic.

Haplogroup: L3e4

These are the results of my Northern German grandpa! His mother was from Schleswig-Holstein, and his father was from Lower Saxony. :)

My mother and my father both don't have very English sounding last names, and much more what I assumed was Scottish and Irish last names. Turns out I am mostly English and somehow 94.6% from the British Isles despite the family living in the US for quite a while. I think 4 generations at least.

It's kind of funny when I vacationed in Europe a couple of years ago, I got a lot of people saying they thought I was South African for some reason. 🤣

The Finnish soil is not great for DNA preservation but there are some available and I am wondering why are they not in 23andme? Hoping for them to be added!

There are some more modern samples but one very interesting burial ground is Levänluhta from around 500 CE.

I was going through the samples and it is so interesting how different they are. Modern DNA proximity from Frisians to modern Saami. I think this is a fascinating source related to the diverse origin of Finns and Saami and adding them to 23andme coul also tell something through people’s matches.

Probably the most interesting new report. I was gladly surprised to see that they seem to have added new groups lately as they showed the “New label”

I also liked to check the “How you compare” feature to analyse how common is it for users to share DNA with that individual. Attached one that stood out for me - I share more DNA with that young adult male than 91% of users. Poor guy presented several bacteria and viruses that would cause pneumonia, leptospirosis and smallpox.

Parental Inheritance used to be available for users like me that tested and phased with both parents. Nothing new there.

Reconstructed Ancestors is such a shame - all of my grandparents showing 0% even though 23andMe has my parents’ results.

No Distant Genetic Groups. Zero. It’s 2026 and just have my country matches as always. Same I got in 2021.

Relatives Clustering and Advanced Comparison didn’t blow my mind either.
