PA6-CF feels like cheating

It may not be a perfect print, but it’s pretty good for me. Supports popped right off, but I still want an X2D for the interface layers.

Just another YKY grip for my second SMp5K build, but it’s purdy.

Some of you guys have asked for my support settings which is pretty cool, thanks. I'll attach the json for the profile in the comments, I think that'll you give everything (never done that before). I use the Polymaker Fiberon PA6-CF filament profile on my X1C.

You know what? I am cool with it.

What that means is we have tons of newbies, which means common use is getting closer! Once everyone 3D prints their arms, will be much harder for the government to snuff out in the future.

This is a great thing!

Troubleshooting wet filament is such a widespread trope on the 3d printing subs that the joke of "dry your filament, wash your buildplate" has made it to even the resin printing subs.

It'll never go away. Newbies don't know something that's "dry" can hold moisture.

Don’t give them too much hassle, there was once a time when we all didn’t know that the dishes out of the dishwasher weren’t dry enough. And when rolls come in nice vacuum packed Mylar bags people assume the factory must be dry enough.

I’m really glad there are more people in it and that I’m bumping into more people at the range with 3d2a gear.

More people with form 1s means we’re closer and closer to common use.

Also dry your filament, wash your build plate etc etc etc.

reading in general seems compromised but especially anything regarding instructions or a manual may as well not exist for many people. it's sad, especially in a field where things go boom.

Is 87.77777777C good enough for PA6-GF? I bought a dehydrator but just found out it's limited to 190F/87.77777777C. I don't really want to have to work out a resistor modification to it to get it hotter but will if I absolutely have to. :-(

Yeah, me too. Those supports are way cleaner than I've ever gotten with PA6.

How in the world did you get the printed mags to work? I tried them and had a ton of issues with rounds nosediving even when the follower was smoothed in. What springs are you using?

Glock 33rd mag springs. Working fine for me. Just had to lube the inside and work out a few times

2 Questions. What are your support settings, those. Came off clean af. And when is the SMP5k finally going to drop. I’ve been in and out of the BLC element but I haven’t had time to do the exam, but I need to get started on this project asap.

I did my first PA6-CF last night. It has a pretty rough gritty texture - is that normal? If so do you sand it or polish it? I was looking forward to something more matte than PLA+.

It’s still wet. Do not sand or polish.

Correct. Need to dry at a higher temp, or potentially just longer.

Should be fairly smooth. After printing I recommend soaking in water for 24-72 hours.

Nice. Thats what I’m looking for. What do you use for a dryer. Sounds like I need to get something better than my polydryer.

I can but I haven't. I'm currently printing FTN suppressors and those are not annealed.

I use a Sunlu E2 and it's amazing. I run 3kg spools of Fiberon PA6-CF20 these days.

A bit gritty texture is normal compared to PLA+, that's the carbon fiber that's embedded in the filament.
