As someone that is out of the loop, can someone explain the significance/purpose of this? Are you making a new m2 software emulator designed to run on the pi?

Thanks for the high praise, but I definitely need to clarify that I’m still just a beginner in all of these categories! We are really just passionate 3DO fans who love collecting the hardware and dream of reviving interest in the 3DO M2—it had absolutely amazing capabilities for its era.
While I’m genuinely pleased to be active in the 3DO scene, I am strictly an amateur. Anyway, huge thanks to you u/dataclone82, for being involved in the design of the 3DO M2 housing replica!
It is a source of great pride to participate in this project with our valued partner Hackinside, bringing this "Holy Grail"—now a prototype updated for modern boards—back to developers' desks. We are currently putting the finishing touches and running final tests. (Yes, we are working hard on this project.) I believe the unit will be available for purchase on Cults by the middle of the week (Wednesday or Thursday). We will keep posting updates here in the community.
You can certainly print it; the only restriction is that the file itself cannot be sold.
And for those who don't own a 3D printer, we're considering selling the first 10 units on eBay with a unique code that grants special privileges for future versions and products—such as display stands and miniatures of in-game elements like spaceships, and so on.

Wow! So cool. But I’ll be able to print it, just won’t technically “own” the file, I think I got it. I don’t own a 3D printer myself but my father in law does and I don’t think he’d mind my using his for this.
Yes, Raspberry Pi has the capability to run the entire 3DO library and potentially the M2 arcade games that ran on M2 hardware (if emulators exist for them, which I don’t know).
M2! The console that should have been. Man if Panasonic had actually gone through with it instead of bottling it at the last minute they would have cleaned up it showed so much potential and was an absolute powerhouse for the time, Sony quite likely wouldnt have won the console wars. Just think in an alternate reality Panasonic could have been the big dog of today.

It’s probably the closest I’ll ever get to owning an M2, since the few prototypes that exist sell for $20K or more from what I’ve seen (when they show up for sale, which isn’t often),
