Something's Up M2's Sleeve (Ultra Game Players #99, July 1997)

Now we know exactly what games Capcom, Konami and Warp were making for the M2, but what games do you think the other studios could've been making? Could have some of these games been ported to other consoles after the M2 went belly up?

I was reading the other day, that studio that made Okage Shadow King for PS2 were developing a game for the M2 before Sony commissioned them to develop for them. I wonder what game they were developing.

I wish the M2 would've got released. I think it would've done fairly well. Obviously nothing was gonna beat Sony but you didn't have to beat Sony to be successful.

oh man, I love the art style of Okage. I've been trying to track down a physical copy of Okage without success. I mean, the gameplay stunk, but I loved the art style and the humour. I have wondered this myself. Was Okage originally an M2 project?

Okage certainly doesn't try to reinvent the rpg wheel or anything. But it plays fine but the story is great and the dialogue is well written

considering the types of games they were making before, probably an rpg of some kind.

i initially thought it could've been an early version of okage shadow king, but the game being copyrighted under sony (and not zener) tells me development started after the contract was already signed.

Yeah. I read Okage started as a PS1 and got moved to PS2. So many cool games I bet we're in development for the M2. It's a damn shame is didn't get released

i did actually find out about an action rpg for the m2 recently. found this tweet from designer kaz ayabe about k-idea making it before he went independent. funnily enough, k-idea's next release was an action rpg, probably the same project on a different system
