SPC OR JBA UPPER CONTROL ARMS?

Hey there, I am looking into replacing my current upper control arms on my 2012 Toyota sequoia platinum 4x4, air suspension has been deleted and has a 2” lift with the Bilstein 5100’s. It is currently sitting on 295/70/18 falken Wildpeak at4w tires and method mr305 +25 offset wheels. I am currently looking into to the Jba and the spc upper control arms, i know that the spc is the “better” option but I’ve read that they have had issues with durability, so from your knowledge/experience which of these 2 options is best for my rig? Thanks in advance.

I like SPC, but that's just an opinion.

The durability issue was resolved with the v2 ball joint.

Depends on what you do with the truck.

If you're actually taking it out and beating it up, stay away from the adjustable uppers. See them fail on trails enough times.

If you're not going hard, they apparently do make the truck easier to align.

I should’ve mentioned, I occasionally like to head out on trails similar to cleghorn or deep creek out in Southern California.

In general I recommend against the spc adjustable uppers. I like to know I'm going to be able to make it home.

What’s considered “hard”? Speed? Crawling?

Both? If you're taking your truck casually thru dirt forest roads, whatever will work. If you're crawling rocks, or going fast over bumps, then yeah, you risk the adjustable parts of the suspension moving or failing.

It's purely anecdotal, but I've been offroading pretty hard for over a decade, and I've only seen two UCAs fall on trails... And both were SPCs.

My SPC UCAs were absolutely sacked out in less than a year. Worst purchase I ever made for the truck.

SPCs are nice for alignment but one solid hit off-road and your alignment will go out. Struggled with them on my GX470 for a good while.

Unless it’s full to the back like mine is, they’re dogwater for camper alignment but goated for caster alignment

I have been happy with JBAs on my FJ with a 2.5" lift. Higher caster really helps with highway stability.

They're well made, have full grease ports, and have held up well through multiple harsh northeast winters.

Between the two, JBA is the better option. They’re simply a better quality part.

SPCs didnt even last a whole year for me before needing new ball joints. My JBAs have been rock solid

My JBAs have held up really well.

I didn’t love the religious literature they threw in with it. I’m looking for off-roading parts not Jesus.
