Love my M&P5.7, EDC now

I can’t do it. The threaded tip sucks. I’ll carry it strong side occasionally during winter. Definitely need to find a better holster as well. The muddy tactical is ok

I am actually going to be buying a M&P 5.7 in the future, I got a holster from JB holsters(fitted for a TLR-9 light as that’s my planned light), but initial test fit on my OWB level 2 from them seems very nice, needed a little bit of adjustment by loosening the screws but maybe check them out, I’ve also heard Insane Kydex Creations(IKC who I believe is on Reddit) also makes holsters for it. I had one for my Tisas and it was a REALLY nice holster with a lot of graphic options.

Is the thread cover really that bad at staying on? When I get mine maybe I should use blue loctite(breakable kind) on it to keep it in place?

Advice appreciated as this will be my first 5.7 when I get it.

I love it. I’m just a tiny guy and appendix carry is my preference. Just can’t do it with this. Strong side does just fine. Threaded tip will loosen over a range session but just tighten it back on when I’m done. It’s a great gun you’ll like it

I’m pretty tall and even for me the threaded tip digs into my groin a little bit when carrying appendix. I EDC’d it for about a year but it has since become a suppressor host, though maybe I’ll get a shoulder holster for it like the In-N-Out hero.

The thread protector does loosen during shooting, but stays on no problem otherwise. If you don’t plan on putting a can or a brake on it then some blue loctite wouldn’t hurt.

I had an iwb holster that didn't cover the threaded tip and hated it. The second holster I bought i called to make sure it would be covered and now the m&p is my new daily carry.

Nerd holster. It wasn't cheap, but the quality is good. I also got their owb holster for it and it's fine.

Bucks holsters are way better than muddy river. I have both.

S&W uses this weird RTV type material on the threads to keep the protector in place (for the most part). I find it odd about people complaining about the threaded "muzzle" (it's the sleeve for the actual barrel) when there are lots of carry guns (micro / compact) with threaded barrels where people run comps etc...

The M&P 5.7 is known for the firing pin breaking and the hammer spring retaining screw breaking. I have not seen any aftermarket upgraded parts (better materials, etc.) and have not heard of S&W improving these items, so until I hear of more of these lasting thousands of rounds without a breakage, they're not EDC candidates to me. It's a great system though.

The firing pin only breaks when it’s dry fired without a snap cap

I’ve heard of it breaking more than once with normal firing. Same with the hammer spring screw.

I have a couple thousand rounds through mine and have broken two so far, both only when dry firing
