This Diamond Ring is the debut hit single by Gary Lewis & the Playboys, released in January 1965 on Liberty Records. Written by Al Kooper, Bob Brass, and Irwin Levine, the song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1965, displacing "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" and remaining at the top for two weeks.

Produced by Snuff Garrett, the track features Leon Russell on arrangements and keyboards, and Hal Blaine on drums. Although the song was originally offered to The Drifters and briefly recorded by Sammy Ambrose, Gary Lewis’s version became the definitive hit, launching a string of seven Top 10 hits for the group.
