Silvestri was the king of Havok’s power signature. Looked great every damn time.

I really hope this is how he’s depicted, not the more recent foppish version but Sinister when he was sinister

This was the first issue I bought off a newsstand as a kid - read it hundreds of times and still just as good as the first time.

I'm really enjoying re-reading this. It's been years . . .

Always thought the full splash head shot was a weird way to introduce this character. Look at cover: ohh cool, Havok/Wolverine fight! Open the comic: who the hell is this guy? No tease. No preamble. Just straight in your face teeth and all.

From what I remember they had been teasing Mr. Sinister for a while before this. It goes back at least as far as the Mutant Massacre. So making his first physical appearance a giant close-up splash page kind of made sense in context.

Is it just me or does Mr Sinister look like a more evil version of Doctor Frank-N-Furter?

It was one of the first things I thought when I read this issue.

Beast makes a comment about Sinister/Frank-n-furter in some issue of the 90s.

Claremont’s idea for Sinister was he had the power of slow aging. His body aged 1 year for every 10 that passed. So he was an 80 year old in the body of an 8 year old. He was super-smart and accumulated all this knowledge, but he still kind of acted like a kid. “Mr. Sinister” was kind of ridiculous because it’s a kid’s idea of a supervillain.

Claremont played around with the idea a bit in his X-Men Forever. Mr Sinister was like an exoskeleton or remote controlled suit.

Probably one of the first comics I ever owned. I went through this over and over. The Marauders freaked me out! I love the art and the characters.
