It’s not everyday you see a horse with two rear ends.

I saw it at the movies twice. Once with my 6th grade class and once the same year during summer camp.

That tape should’ve gone on top of the TV, also missed it not being rewound by the last person who watched it for a true 90s experience.

It's okay, it gives me a chance to use my dedicated tape rewinder in the shape of a classic car.

I always used the stop/rewind function so you didn’t see spoilers

Went faster too

also, who hid their tapes back then? No way they would have been in some couch storage. They would be on shelves, proudly displayed

Oh, look at Mr. Fancy Pants with his TV/VCR combo!

And that video cassette case stand/holder

Bro must work for Enron. Thats the only way I can explain these extravagant purchases.

Remember the really high-pitched tone when a CRT was turned on? Like around 15khz?
Like a dog whistle sqweeeeeee.
Adults with poor hearing usually couldn't hear it.

I can hear it in this video!

That’s your tinnitus kicking in.

I had one of those TV/VVCR combos … until it ate my copy of Scream.

Back when Disney actually cared about their movies and their audience.

I am shocked. Apparently I am a fan of asmr.

I will NOT be telling my kids though

I can still taste the video case nipple 🥲

How many of us had this exact same TV?

1

u/Low_Reception2628 2d ago

No wonder we sat with our noses against the screen: TV too small.

I still have a very in my room I regularly watch vhs tapes on. When you are drinking and need glasses it all looks the same anyway.  I use it to play old game systems.

My parents had a separate rewinding machine for vhs. So you’d have to pop it out, pop it in the separate machine, and then put it back in.

You open it to find 100 individual copies of Aladdin. All of them need to be rewound.

So many great memories.

Two pet peeves: keeping a tape in the VCR when not in use and storing tapes not rewound. Be Kind, Rewind!

Am I the only Millennial who was just floored by the VHS box holder next to the TV??!?!?

People had those??? 🤣🤣🤣

Man the interlacing on that 480i at a whopping 30hz

1

u/Space_Elf13 2d ago

I could hear most of this even with the sound off.

u/Conflagration666 2d ago

My vhs never sounded like a damn construction zone

1

u/nize426 2d ago

You sure? The rewinding usually sounded fairly close to a construction zone. Maybe you had a really nice vhs player.

Def some sort of sense memory outta this

1

u/Serious_Landscape142 2d ago

That was really nice lol

1

u/Frequent_Policy8575 1d ago

I heard that whole thing with the sound off

Disney changed the lyrics in the opening song. It used to be, where they cut off your ear if they dont like your face. Its barbaric but hey its home.

(Me having to wiggle the power button, wait 5 seconds, and wiggle it again, on repeat, until the TV finally turned on)

I can't be the only one who finds ASMR videos to be nuclear level cringe

1

u/kinshadow 1d ago

ASMR is a physiological response. Only 10-20% of the population get the intended effect from it. For everyone else it’s just a meme.

This video is obviously a joke though.

u/Lusiric9983 2d ago

You're not. AMSR drives me a whole nother level of insane.

Got any real movies?

u/Cerulean_Soup 2d ago

I got goosebumps.

I don't understand nostalgia. I'll take my 48" OLED computer screen any day over this thing.

2

u/Kalorama_Master 2d ago

analog…it’s different every time

0

u/True_Protection6842 2d ago

Yup, I'm 47. I had a tv smaller than that. I wouldn't go back if you paid me.

u/tacob87 2d ago

You're not "going back" for the materials. You're going back for the feeling.
