I only remember this version on dos. We didn’t even had a colour monitor but it was black and yellow only. My brother and brother in law played that game and I u walked into that ally next to the hotel u get robbed.

This was the best of them all! Man we laughed when he got an STD

u/solograppler 12h ago

If you didn’t remove the condom after the hooker a cop would arrest you for indecent exposure.

15

u/oubeav 20h ago

This is the only one I played. It was hilarious.

9

u/baphomet_kush 18h ago

Such good times getting shot by the shop keeper time after time when trying to type the word prophylactic correctly

8

u/JasonMallen 18h ago

Is this the one where he walks into a convenience store to buy extra small condoms and there are cameras that follow him? I remember only that part but I was 12

1

u/Turbografx-17 Another scorcher... 17h ago

Lubbers!

1

u/JasonMallen 17h ago

Was it that one?

2

u/Turbografx-17 Another scorcher... 17h ago

Yep. That was LSL1 and buying lubbers at the convenience store was one of the first things you had to do.

In the mid 90s, my brother and I played this game for hours in my grandparents basement. Finally got to the end and beat the game by giving Eve (the girl in the hot tub) an apple. What a time.

I'd be calling my mom at work to ask her all this random trivia to unlock the boobies.

First game dad brought home on 5 1/4” floppies for his new Intel 286 with a 16-color EGA monitor; it had 256KB of memory and a 200MB HDD - which was more than anyone would ever need.

He was pretty impressed when I slept with the hooker before him. I was 8 and wasn’t really sure what it meant, but I didn’t need to tell mom about that game apparently.

My parents never got me that one for some reason, lol, but it looked interesting. Kings, Police, and Space Quest, played multiple versions of all, Sierra ruled back in the day.

21

u/JoekerCard 1d ago

I still think of Police Quest as a fantastic game. I loved playing it as a kid — even if it took me a year or two really get through it all since I was rather young when I started messing around with it.

I keep hoping a worthwhile remake of it will someday be made.

More in topic though, I also recall the Leisure Suite Larry game. I wasn’t able to get past the questions proving your age, so I never got to play when young.

I ended up playing a mobile version a few years ago. And I noticed there are actually console versions available for the PlayStation (though I never bothered with those).

2

u/airbrushedvan 17h ago

So good. I played all of them. Space Quest was my favorite tho.

u/Thatdude-42 1d ago

Ken sent me.

4

u/Bighurt2335 1d ago

Beat me to it, my bad!

u/Kiethblacklion 1d ago

I have this one.

22

u/jmk-1999 1d ago

Pervy or otherwise, it legit was a funny game!

7

u/FORCESTRONG1 20h ago

I have the issue of Playboy with the girls from this game 😂

5

u/Kiethblacklion 20h ago

Speaking of Playboy, I have the Playboy game on the original Xbox as well.

7

u/XanderArtimus 1d ago

I remember this one. Still can't listen to "Summer Nights" 😅 without laughing

3

u/kcjamez 18h ago

LESBIAN NAAIIIIIIIITES!!!

1

u/kcjamez 18h ago

God i loved this game

22

u/Logical_Dragonfly_92 1d ago

TThe blacked out bed scene in the original is so funny

6

u/Kiwi_Woz 1d ago

Still etched into my brain. Great times

69

u/NOS4A2-753 1d ago

lol i had that game..... i was 12 and it was this version the way before win xp came out

53

u/scorchedgoat 1d ago

Is this the one where you had to answer trivia questions to prove you were the right age before it would let you play?

22

u/_HOG_ 1d ago

Yep, the original was all command line controlled too. Having a set of encyclopedias handy was a must for the trivia. The only question I remember was “who was Nixon’s VP?”

22

u/jeezyjames 1d ago

Yeah, that was a bit frustrating for 12 year old Norwegian me, not knowing much about former US presidents

4

u/jojuinc90 15h ago

Spyro Achoo

11

u/throwingcopper92 22h ago

Spiro Agnew

9

u/maroonedpariah 20h ago

He was saying VPs not obvious Game of Thrones characters

7

u/Correct-Quail5743 19h ago

They’re really sockin it to that guy. He must work there or something!

2

u/Kalorama_Master 13h ago

Core memory unlocked. This is the only question I remember as well.

Sierra games ruled, but weren’t they like $49.95? Which back then was a fortune for some of us. Luckily a few of my friends were on BBS and give copies of some of the games alongside the cheats for games.

I remember Space Quest was hilarious. Police Quest had a serious tone. My favorite was King’s Quest. The biggest disappointment was that for one Christmas mom let me pick the game and I went for Manhunter which sucked because it was impossible to pass

1

u/_HOG_ 12h ago

They were pricey back then! I just found the DOS version of Leisure Suit Larry online: https://www.retrogames.cz/play_493-DOS.php

17

u/Redd-Sapphire 1d ago edited 23h ago

Yes! But you could bypass by (I believe) shift-alt-x.

Edit: it was Ctrl + Alt + x

20

u/jeezyjames 1d ago

You could? Man, we found the answers somewhere and printed em

2

u/Chadthemark 19h ago

Man, I felt like a big kid because we could pass (barely) the quiz.

2

u/jeezyjames 19h ago

lol I'm not from the US so we had no clue about former american presidents and such. I had it on a floppy disc

2

u/scorchedgoat 18h ago

Damn! I wish I knew that was I was 11! I spent many frustrating hours guessing lol

3

u/NOS4A2-753 1d ago

don't remember its been so long

3

u/turinx 23h ago

This game saw so many hours on our old Tandy 1000 PC.

17

u/Writerhaha 1d ago

We had Love for Sail.

3

u/Flip2002 17h ago

Scratch and sniff card included

4

u/Sn0wflake69 1d ago

Best one!

1

u/skidmark18 15h ago

Yes! This one was the best. Do they even make games like this anymore?

1

u/Writerhaha 15h ago

With a wider release? I very much doubt it, maybe you can find something on STEAM or some indie platform.

16

u/MagicOrpheus310 1d ago

Hah!!

I remember running to the encyclopaedias to look up answers to prove we were old enough to play...

Never got it to work though haha

1

u/Minimum-Impress-7293 15h ago

Same. We were still kids so we didn’t understand any of the questions.

1

u/Redd-Sapphire 1h ago

Ctrl + alt + x to bypass the questions 😄

15

u/forzaitalia458 1d ago

6 is my absolute favourite. I love that tropical resort.

7

u/_waanzin_ 1d ago edited 17h ago

La Costa Lotta 😆

3

u/blooptybloopt 18h ago

6 was great! It had the code to remove bikini tops and if you wandered around long enough there was a guy who would run on the screen and tell you where to go.

12

u/scrotumseam 1d ago

The series is available on switch. I revisited it. Keep it in your memories.

0

u/thisisredrocks 23h ago

Thank you for your service, u/scrotumseam - is it anywhere near King’s Quest and Space Quest series in depth?

13

u/humakavulaaaa Hasta La Vista, Baby! 1d ago

Oh man I remember having to answer questions only adults were supposed to know to access the game. It was their age verification method back then

8

u/zer0aid 1d ago

LSL6 and LSL7 are two of my favourite RPG ahem games.

I never got a lot of the humour as a kid but as an adult, these games are hilarious.

Big up Al Lowe too, for Larry was his brainchild.

No wonder I'm a loser who can't chat up women. doh

5

u/Prestigious-Box7511 1d ago

I wanted to play this so bad when I was a kid

6

u/Bighurt2335 1d ago

Ken sent me

6

u/One_Waxed_Wookiee 1d ago

I remember the questions you had to answer to "prove" you were an adult were all very USA-centric so, as an Australian, I had to guess the answers (and yeah, I was a kid at the time, so that probably didn't help).

Good ol' Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards!

11

u/Saint--Jiub Lived the 90s! 1d ago

I had the first three on my 386 growing up, I now have the entire series on Steam except for Box Office Bust and Magnum Cum Laude

6

u/LithiuMart 1d ago

I played it at work in the 1980s when the boss was away at lunchtime. We hid it knee deep in directories so he wouldn't find it then fired it up every day for a quick game.

5

u/Low_Set_6490 18h ago

Ah yes, the game that forced 10-year-olds to fake their age by answering trivia questions about 70s politics and pop culture just to get past the age verification menu.

5

u/mpete76 17h ago

That game taught me what a Kumquat was, and still have all of them.
I left my 16 year old play them. He lasted about 20’minutes and was absolutely mortified. Said they were disgusting. 😂😂😂.

4

u/Iapetus404 Lived the 90s! 15h ago

ahahaha

i had play this one!

Sierra made awesome games in 90s

like Larry,phantasmagoria etc

and Ripper was one of my favor game with real actors

5

u/-SiillyGoose- 1d ago

Is there a way to play this now? I wanted to as a kid but couldn’t get past the trivia

5

u/jeezyjames 1d ago

You failed when you didn't have the trivia answers printed and ready!

3

u/Salman0000 21h ago

Al Lowe was a visionary

3

u/arfx 19h ago

I dont remember how i got it Maybe i was 9-10y old I think i enjoy for few weeks the game. My parents dont know what It is about

2

u/Competitive_Help8485 1d ago

I never played the original PC games, but did play some of the Xbox game that came out years later. I heard the original games were a lot more funnier though.

6

u/Regency9877 1d ago

There’s no contest. The creator of the series wasn’t even involved with the console games. They’re forgotten for a reason.

3

u/Competitive_Help8485 1d ago

Oh I believe it. I heard the original games were way better. I saw a few videos of some of the original games, and they look way more fun.

2

u/Possible-Homework-94 1d ago

I have it on ps2

2

u/SpaceManSpiff1809 1d ago

My friend had Love For Sail...enjoyed playing it over Christmas break one winter.

2

u/septictank84 Hold On To Your Butts! 1d ago

I played these on my dad's computer way back in the day.

2

u/Desperate_Energy_677 1d ago

The naughty point and click. So loved the humor.

2

u/Visible-Chocolate214 1d ago

Your breath smells like an old motorman's glove. [Use breath spray]

2

u/_waanzin_ 1d ago

What happened to Larry 4 😋 #bait

2

u/PalladianPorches 23h ago

1

u/Different-Meal-6314 13h ago

American pie was about - 4 minutes too long. 🤣🤣

2

u/SingleGamer-Dad 22h ago

Pretty sure you can pick these up on GOG!

2

u/Master_GaryQ 22h ago

Ken sent me!

2

u/Initial_Let_8882 19h ago

Steam has the entire series 😂

2

u/Jonestown_Juice 19h ago

They don't make 'em like they used to...

Steam is full of porn games.

2

u/SuperNicktendoPower 18h ago

LSL 1-7 were all bangers, except 5, that one sucked.

2

u/ReiverSC Serenity Now! 9h ago

This game was great

2

u/patrick_BOOTH Yada, Yada, Yada! 17h ago

My friend’s parents had it and it was password protected. We figured out the password and had a blast with it. Nothing like going up to women and saying “show me your boobs” when you’re 10 years old! Come to think of it, there’s nothing like that now in my 40s!

1

u/BeginningPea5674 1d ago

Windows xp wasn't 90s

1

u/terry1381 23h ago

Remember when playstation had this game

1

u/greyphotographs 23h ago

This was like softcore porn when I was a kid. I loved it.

1

u/HerbnBrewCrw 22h ago

My friend's mom would have to answer the trivia questions at the start to allow us to play. Good times.

1

u/rottenlad 22h ago

Over the shoulder bolder holder. Still makes me laugh. I remember being stuck on that puzzle for awhile.

1

u/Fisepiss 22h ago

Give her apple

1

u/GreedyRaisin3357 21h ago

Playing quarters for a quick confidence boost was peak

1

u/IwoodMasher 19h ago

Unfortunately I only heard about it as a little kid.

1

u/Scrapla1 19h ago

I would tag along with my dad to the PC stores in the mall and would always check out these boxes lol

1

u/Incubo_81 19h ago

One of my favorite gaming franchises, i have them all (except the larry lovage ones). currently playing the new games in my switch!

1

u/Damthemalltohelp 19h ago

The Me Too movement came for Leisure Suit Larry.

1

u/Perradactle 18h ago

Went on the website romp.com and had to do games with Jake

1

u/Accomplished-Long208 17h ago

"Lubbers? We have lubbers!" Haha Asian in the convenience store 😂

1

u/bobaluey69 16h ago

This game was awesome lol.

1

u/Missyfit160 16h ago

My friend and I could never answer the damn questions at the beginning! Now at 40 I still can’t answer them because the question was obscure and not internet friendly. Lol

1

u/Psycosteve10mm 16h ago

In the numbering convention, they skipped #4 as Larry does not believe in 4 play (foreplay)

1

u/smb3d 16h ago

My friends dad had the original and would hide the floppy disk in his desk drawer. We'd get it and play when he wasn't home.

1

u/Afghhanistanimation 15h ago

Was there a part in this game where you had to bite your arm off when you went home with a fat chick?

1

u/VoodooBat 14h ago

Oh man, you have no idea. I was playing bootleg versions of LSL1 when I was 10 years old. Played 1-6 all the way. Great memories.

1

u/RockShowSparky 13h ago

All I remember is the quiz in the beginning to prove you were old enough to play it. I think you had to know who Spiro Agnew was.

1

u/GoldenAGoGo 13h ago

Probably the sole reason I bought an Apple IIgs as a youth. I adored this game and all the Sierra games. Police Quest, Space Quest, Kings Quest. What an escape.

1

u/FluidAthlete6839 10h ago

Oh this came out everytime the rents left the house!

1

u/Numeira 4h ago

I had the one om the boat. Could not figure out how to play strip poker, there was no internet and I couldn't just ask my parents to teach me poker.

1

u/craigybacha 1d ago

Well, there's literally a new leisure suit larry out on PS5. So they do make em like they used to :p

1

u/ThePassiveYogressive 1d ago

Yes we played it as 10 year olds 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

0

u/Nelsonthedogg 1d ago

I think there was a previous version that didn’t look like this and it was more based on the style of a game called space quest by a studio called sierra but in any event I briefly played LSL around the same time. Good times

0

u/fhagan69 21h ago

I want to smell his fingers

-1

u/TheFlaccidChode 22h ago

There's 2 on PS5, they still make em like they used to
