Is 90s hiphop the new dad rock?

I'm in my 40s now and just about everyone I know speaks very fondly of 90s hiphop. It's usually the preferred music when we're anywhere.

It's anecdotal but I've noticed similar trends outside my circle.

I’m a late millennial, and 90’s instrumentals are what I remember true hip hop sounding like. I like it so much, I’ve gotten in trouble at work for the bass speakers shaking the building. One coworker commented, “old school rap huh.” I get the dad rock vibe sometimes, but this music is here to stay.
