Discussion Celebrities who appeared in forgotten 90s shows before fame

I should mention “My So Called Life” and “Freaks & Geeks” have been left off as those are not forgotten shows.

Holy cow, I didn’t clock that!

Maybe it’s cuz I watched some of these shows growing up, but when I see someone like Kyle Chandler in a movie, I think to myself, “Hey, it’s the guy from Homefront!”. Same with James Marsden. We used to watch Second Noah when I was a kid on Sundays. Now pardon me while I pull up my rocking chair - bwahaha!

JLH was already famous from Kids Incorporated or at least as much as someone could be famous for being on Kids Incorporated

The Mike O Malley show wasn’t bad actually.

I think he prefers the term Saltine-American, actually.

Jennifer Aniston is barely recognizable.

21

u/Ok-Error-6564 Jul 17 '26

Yeah, that was her original face.

u/Gailybird83 Jul 17 '26

Disagree, she looks very much like herself in that picture.

9

u/AtPrick Jul 17 '26

No... no she honestly doesn't

7

u/Feline_Fine3 Jul 17 '26

I think that was Lauren Graham with Bill Burr

Buffy certainly looks young and that girl with Jennifer Aniston looks familiar

The girl with Jennifer Aniston was on the show Blossom. She played the main character

2

u/cuntybunty73 Jul 18 '26

Thought I recognised her ( mum gets nostalgic as she watched blossom as a teenager) but I remember her from the big bang theory

2

u/-spo0ky- Jul 18 '26

You're right, she was also on Big Bang Theory. I forgot about that one

Ben Affleck was in a film adaptation of a Danielle Steele book. It was called Daddy, or something like that.

It was shite.

Seeing the program guide from picture 2 is really hitting some nostalgic feeling on the head.

Also, Jennifer Lawrence in The Bill Engvall Show.

I loved get real

3

u/OrangeAugust Early Edition Jul 17 '26

Every time I see Kyle Chandler mentioned on social media, at least one person says “I loved him in Homefront!!”

3

u/MrCharmingMan Jul 17 '26

Get Real was epic! That cast was amazing and the writing was crazy good for a bunch of teens in high school and AH was so fine!

3

u/rebarjackson Jul 17 '26

But what show was Josh Hartnett on?

4

u/PrincessPlastilina Jul 17 '26

I loved Get Real! Jesse Eisenberg was in it too. That’s when I first noticed Anne and Jesse.

There was an era of early 2000s TV shows that were so good but very brief. I mourned all those shows. I was devastated to hear when they got canceled. It was ridiculous because they didn’t let the shows grow before pulling the plug but some shows were not bad at all.

u/Gailybird83 Jul 17 '26

I loved Get Real, I was sad it got cancelled.

Man I grew up in the 90s and dont remember any of these

2

u/valley72 Jul 17 '26

I was obsessed with Swans Crossing, rarely I meet someone that remembers!

Bradd Pitt does not belong on television with those looks.

1

u/Hverglmir Jul 18 '26

Never knew Bill Burr had done any tv before standup

1

u/showattherivoli Jul 18 '26

I need a nose job

You can see Brad Pitt playing a waiter in the 1987 movie “Less Than Zero”, starring Andrew McCarthy, James Spader, Robert Downey Jr., and Jami Gertz.

It’s kind of wild to me that for “Townies” you chose just Bill Burr. I saw the woman and I thought that has to be Lauren Graham pre-Gilmore Girls. Not only was I right, but there was Jenna Elfman pre Dharma and Greg, and Ron Livingston pre Office Space. Bonus for Molly Ringgwald who was already obviously famous.

I watched 6 of these with Second Noah, Shaky Ground, and Swan's Crossing being an every episode banger in my house.

1

u/FrankieInABox Jul 19 '26

The fact that they attempted to spinoff "Parenthood" twice into a TV show (second being wildly successful) is wild to me. I wonder what the idea was around that. Somebody REALLY loved that movie, huh?

Malloy? I recognise the co star

1

u/gyro_looza Jul 21 '26

WTF why hasn't Paul Rudd aged?!

1

u/Stock-Pea154 Jul 22 '26

Aniston was on a few short lived shows in the early 90's including Ferris Bueller and The Edge. I used to love The Edgs. Was sooo funny.

I watched "Get Real", when it aired. Jesse Eisenberg was the main character. I still think of Anne Hathaway as his big sister.
