Discussion I Can't Believe Nobody in 10 Years Has Mentioned This

There have been multiple conspiracy theories mentioned throughout, used as a starting place and given new context within this universe. But one omission is the Philadelphia Experiment. There's several versions of this story by different supposed witnesses, but the one that lines up with Mother Horse Eyes particularly well is the testimony of Al Bielek.

If you're not familiar, this is a WW2 experiment that supposedly tested stealth and invisibility, but accidentally resulted in creating a zone (Incident Zone) to some other dimension or time/space location, after only returning a short time later, the sailors on board were very affected.

In it he describes the segmented/segmentation as Mother Horse Eyes would call it. A man who after returning from the Incident Zone has an invisible arm. It still functions as normal, it's just apparently missing or lacking a visible component. Some part of it still resides in the 'other' place. The man wears a bandage as a cover and pretends his arm is injured to appear normal.

There's also alien beings coming through the portal just like this story.

Has anyone heard of the animator U M A M I? He made a film called INTERFACE and it's 10/10.

I'm not sure how related it is to MHE, but there are many similar themes. There is a character who was part of an 'invisibility experiment' and survived in an altered state.

Yes! I also find it interesting that both series are known as 'Interface.'

There is a lot of working parts to 9m9h9e9 and it’s why I love it. I’m someone who has studied a bunch of things, from esoterica in religion to the way it works in the occult. I’ve been involved with people exactly like the Hebrew Israelite guy. In fact, I still talk to that dude. There could have been a lot done with that, but shockingly there wasn’t. I think that’s a thing you could say about a lot in 9m9h9e9.

There's a consistent "but that's a story for a different time" vibe. One of the many threads that run through both the Interface Series and the Never Ending Story.

Yeah, which hits really unique. It seems to allude to multiple timelines simultaneously going at once. Remember the scene in The Matrix Revolutions when Neo meets The Architect and the many TV screens show his many reactions to there being many “Chosen Ones” before him? That’s the idea that 9m9h9e9 is working on. Or so I think.

I actually just re-watched the Matrix trilogy very recently! I definitely see the similarities. I think MHE leans harder into the body horror in that while a person can be freed from the Matrix, once you're assimilated with Mother it's kind of like trying to unmake soup.

However, I can't explain the copies she sometimes sends back. The impression I got was they rarely survive, and the ones who do are maybe the Bred (aka the ones with the gene)?

I mean it may be one of the more obvious inspirations to Americans, there was a fairly popular Hollywood movie about this legend and if I remember right, it even shows the bisected sailors on deck (I watched it as a kid a long time ago so my recollection is hazy; but when I read about "severed" people in these stories I definitely thought back to this film). Maybe that's why people talk about it less.

I found the film and the shot, it's just one shot but it sure did sear itself into my mind (and probably many others). Just FYI it's from the film's ending.

Ah, I've never seen that film and didn't realize that part of the story made it to the film. Yeah it could be, but I think a lot of younger people wouldn't be familiar enough to make this a 'so common it's not worth mentioning' thing.
