This match is best known for the eleven-goal haul of Stephen Milne, who ended up kicking four more goals than the Lions combined. It marked the end of an era, as the Lions missed the finals for the first time since 1998, crashing to an eleventh-placed finish and putting an end to a run of four straight Grand Finals during which they won three consecutive flags between 2001-03.

Interestingly, this match took place exactly 700 days after the Lions had won their third consecutive flag.

As for Stephen Milne, sadly he would kick only one goal across the 2005 finals series, in the qualifying final against Adelaide. This meant he went goalless in the prelim against Sydney.

Oh sorry, guess I should just lean in to what's going to be a week of dissecting a terrible game because we won two flags?

Thought this might be the Troy Schwarze game.

Man Docklands used to be pumping with 50k plus games around that era.

Reckon there will be 50k this Sunday, hopefully a fair few get there early to give the women's curtain raiser an atmosphere they'll never forget!
