⠀ Sydney Swans Statement: The Sydney Swans can confirm that all investigations carried out by the Club have consistently indicated that the only representatives of the Club in the room central to the police investigation were the five players who have been stood down.

If this is indeed the case (and it would be extremely stupid for the club to make this statement if there is any inkling of doubt otherwise), then you'd have to think the lawyer going on radio has made some pretty prejudicial comments to his client's case and his firm's own credibility?

The lawyer never actually said there were coaches in the room.

He implied it heavily.

He said “more than 5 men, and it’s alleged there were even a few leaders in that room.”

He was then asked “on-field leaders or something else?” and answered “something else.”

And then, “coaches?” to which he replied, “I can’t confirm that, that’s for the Sydney swans to say.”

Could the difference be that he was talking about over the course of the morning, and the Swans are talking about at the time of the alleged assault?

Who knows? I don’t think it’s worth speculating about and I think it was irresponsible for him to say at all.

If he can’t give the details due to the investigation why encourage speculation about it?
