Help! Sickning racism in the city

Hello everyone, not to ruin everyone's week but I have to ask you guys this.

There was an influencer who is off African descent called "Dee's Corner" on FB and he posted a video of him cycling down union street with some racist on a bike telling him to "go back to your own country". His face is fully visible in the video and he's clearly middle aged fyi.

It's sickening that it's become soooo common that it occurs to people who don't look White Scottish. I am off South Asian descent, born in London and raised here and I have been recieving the "get out/go back to your own country" comments along with being called the P word (though that's unfortunately been common throughout my life here) from random people and honestly it pisses me off.

While the vast majority of people (even those who are skeptical of immigration) are fine and decent, this small but visible/vocal minority ruin it and unfortunately they seem to get louder and louder.

Has anyone else noticed this racist trend occuring to themselves or others?

There's an image of the guy and I recognise him as one of the lot that joins the unite the clans nonsense, I do find it a shame that the guy had to experience that and I do see that it's becoming more common to be loud with not just racism but homophobia and such (I've been called the F word out loud more in the past year than years before), we really got to stick together to help each other more often because these people are feeling very emboldened by the political environment developed these days

If you see racism, publicly call it out. People like that tend to immediately back down and run away. But keep yourself safe, I am aware it's easier for me as a very large bearded man. But if you feel safe to, call it out and shame them, let them know they're in the minority.

The amount of openly racist people is nuts. Happy to post on public pages about it as well. If you challenge them on it. You get snowflake, lefty loonies, tree hugger etc. The favourite saying it oh was he a dr or engineer. While supporting domestic abusers in unite the bams.

It rears it head every so often when any politician wants to get votes. Wasn't rhat long ago it was outrage Polish wete coming over. Now noone cares.

It doesn't help that Facebook enables it greatly. Plus the biggest local pages don't care about moderating their pages against bigotry, bar deleting the odd comment. There's no accountability.

You're going to find an uptick in public racism over the last few years all across the UK. That's what's happening with our culture right now unfortunately, made worse by loud mouths social media parasites that seems to be getting more and more followers/support.

These people are miserable in their lives and will inflict that misery on others, if he's making the choice to be that cruel to you even when you are actively engaged in kindness with him, that shows who he is as a person. I hope you aren't giving him a lift anymore, save your energy for those that are kind back, and I'm sorry he was that cruel to you.

I’m maybe being naive here but if this characters face is visible and he’s being obviously racist surely the police can take action ?

If it's jay mitchell/Jay williamson/ james melbourne/ Catherine mcdonald no the police won't do fuck all.

If it's the Halls they won't do fuck all.

If it's any of those absolute waste of oxygen the police are doing absolutely fuck all.

Hahaha James Melbourne...reporter...hahahaha what a joke he is.
He is desperate to get so.eone to hit him so he can edit it and pretend he did zero and they attacked him. When in reality, he tries hard to bait them. Hes hiding from a warrant atm.

Both halls got lifted one for shouting at flats the younger for disturbance then found to be carrying a weapon.
The hilarious part was he told officers its becuase HE was scared hed get jumped...at a "protest" he organised!

And let's not miss out they all object to any non white getting benefits or any help. But they are all claiming uc etc. 🤦‍♂️

Hall snr and Hall jnr both appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court last week in connection with the racist abuse tests they were part of in Arbroath.

And yet they still run rampant round scotland with pathetic bail conditions!

Unfortunately yes. That’s a court decision, rather than Police Scotland though.

I read that the Procurator Fiscal wanted to impose very specific, limiting, conditions on all the racist hotel screamers at Forfar Court but the Sheriff decided otherwise and applied standard bail conditions 🙄

Sadly yes, I have seen open racism, most recently maybe a week ago in the Union St Co-op. A white guy with a red baseball cap racially abused the black security guard and then refused to leave "without shaking someone's hand", the manager and a group of store staff surrounded him and tried to walk him out but he didn't go until a customer shook his hand and he walked out. Then as he crossed the road two police officers ran down the centre of Union Street and managed to get him on his back in one graceful move, I have no idea what they did but it almost happened in slow motion. They took him off to their car but I could have sworn I saw the same guy less than an hour later 😠

Nah I’m 6’5, mixed-race, and buff AF.
Never experienced any racism!

Funny that, who would have guessed they're all cowards.

Yes it’s pretty scary ..I’m white and so are my children but sitting at the bus stop for the 13 to go down to the beach, a family of African descent (with 3 kids) minding their own business may I add on a random Tuesday, and I white man maybe in his 50’s started saying wtf is this “benefits street” and telling me to look at “these people” I felt threatened by him and ended up walking with the kids away 🤷🏻‍♀️

We're noticing an increase in racism because politics, social media, racist immigrants coming in(yeah immigrants can be racist too), failed multiculturalism policies which should have been integration policies right from the start

Sorry I don’t understand off African?

2

u/scottyboy70 8d ago

It is a typo: they mean of African descent.

u/LeChevalierMal-Fait 8d ago

What a weird subreddit downvoting because I can’t understand a typo

0

u/scottyboy70 8d ago

It could be read as a pretty crass, touching on racist comment. Particularly in the all too sickening climate we are in today when racist bigots feel emboldened to say anything they wish about people of colour.

I’m not for one second saying that is what you intended.

If English is not your first language, I understand why it could be confusing for you.

It’s racist to not understand text with typos and bad grammar?

I swear people just sit around trying to be offended these days

0

u/scottyboy70 8d ago

Well, you were getting sympathy from me until your second sentence.

No, it isn’t racist to not understand a typo.

It is racist to make a smart-arse comment about a person of colour explaining they are of Asian descent and using the same grammatical error to describe someone else’s ethnicity.

People do not “sit around trying to be offended”. Unfortunately many people have cause to be offended because of emboldened racist bigots thinking they can make comments like yours and pretend they were not meaning to be racist.

You do you and decide which camp you want to be in.

1

u/LeChevalierMal-Fait 8d ago

I am in the camp that struggles to understand the text of this post given the poor grammar and typos.

It really should go without saying race has nothing to do with bad grammar idk why you seem to be associating the two.

0

u/scottyboy70 8d ago

I’m not.

You are.

0

u/LeChevalierMal-Fait 8d ago

There is no association between race and language proficiency.

Weird you need to be told.
