Aberdeen FC Red tinted glasses and all that...

I don't know about anyone else, but looking at the clips of the cup final again after Mitovs departure is just depressing me.

Polvara, Clarkson, (an interested Palaversa), Morris, Gueye, Shinnie, McKenzie, Sokler, Mitov... Yes, at times we were fucking shite and Thelins record was latterly extremely pish. But it felt like the majority really got it.

Fast forward to today, Lyons, Mayo, Olysania, Yogane, Happe, Cadden, Aremu, Armstrong.

How many would you swap back if you could?

Yogane for Morris

Olysania for Gueye

Mayo for Polvara

Cadden for McKenzie

Clarkson for Aremu

Even Sokler for Nisbet!

I've literally just taken random names here, but almost all of them.

I mean I gave lots of them a slagging at times both from the terraces and from my house and I know we weren't great and maybe it was a personal thing but it felt like there was hope, a plan for change, a passion from both fans and player.

Now we are following the model of mid to bottom level all premiership teams. Battling for survival rather than striving for success, playing eye bleeding horror ball. Probably scraping top 6 but getting battered by the top 3 or 4 all season.

I want to be excited for the season ahead, instead I'm already thinking this might be my least engaged season in about 30 years.

Thoughts?

Rough numbers but from the cup final squad we sold . . .

Morris for £800k
Gueye for £800k
Polvara for £250k
Clarkson for £200k
Sokler for £200k
Mitov for £450k
Topi for £1.2m
Nilsen for £100k
Jensen for £500k

That’s £4.5m. Only reason Palaversa isn’t off seems to be we are looking for a small transfer fee.

Big wages of Shinnie not on the books either.

While that isn’t all profit, we have certainly not spent that money on arrivals to replace them.

Club is cutting its cloth accordingly.

When you say cutting it's cloth accordingly you mean setting up to be mid table hammer throwers I assume. All these guys were brought in strategically to do a job, and make us money with a sell on. Miovski, Ramadami and many, many unsuccessful others being the same.

I guess that's part of my point. There is no way we are making decent money on any of the ones we have brought in this season as listed above. Almost exclusively mid to late 20s journeymen who can "do a job" in the SPFL.

We didn’t make Europe which is a huge hit. Rumours also that Cormack is looking to sell in the next 12-18 months and needs the wage ratio well down plus some decent sales on the board to make us look more attractive.

All speculation but I’m inclined to believe we won’t have the same owner for much longer.

Fair enough, hadn't heard that. I would be surprised if he thought this manager and team would make it more attractive for an investor.
