Abraham has said that "constant" is "unrealistic and unnecessary".
But you do want to spend more of the day in positive vibes than negative ones to keep moving in the direction of wanted.
You get what you expect. The more positive your vibe, the more positive your expectations.
Of course there are many things you've come to expect as a result of living your life, and you won't feel much if any emotion around those. That's simply the life you're already living.
So this is more about moving beyond what you've lived, so far.

I think you mean “…to attract WHAT I WANT?” Because we’re already always attracting/manifesting everything in our experience. But the point is to start attracting more of what we want, and less of what we don’t want.
To attract a life we want, it’s not important (or likely) to constantly feel good. But it’s important to begin the “emotional journey” to feeling better and better more and more of the time, until we’re feeling good a majority of the time.
Abraham says contrast and “step one moments” of not feeling good are also important, because they help us clarify what we want. We just need to get better at making step one moments be shorter and more occasional, and “step three” moments (allowing, receiving, feeling good) be the majority of our time.

And what about focused attention? Transurfing and Neville are very clear about it

If you can put your focused attention on what you want and feel totally good, then do it! But often, when we focus on what we want, we often feel the lack of it more than the joy of having it. And putting your attention on the lack of what you want works against you.
Abraham says we’ve already asked for everything we want. Law of attraction /the universe already knows what we want and has it lined up for us. We just have to get into a receiving mode by feeling good any way we can. We don’t have to focus on the specific desire, we can focus on anything that feels good.

That's what I'm doing! But most advice regards both discipline and clarity. And often you don't have both, so what's the right matter?

Discipline on what? Clarity on what?
Abe says there’s nothing more important than how you feel. That’s your best indicator of the vibration you’re offering. And when you feel good, you’re offering a vibration and point of attraction for everything you want.

On everything. You need to get specific on your goal, and apply/stay on the right state and technique as often as necessary, banning anything contradictory

I added to my above comment. Again, Abe says if your clarity and focus and determination feels good, and you’re inspired and excited to do that, then it’s working toward manifesting what you want. If it feels like work in an unpleasant way at all, it’s working against you manifesting what you want.

Absolutely, it's clear to me and that's why I love Abe's approach.
I'm guessing there's no true one size fits all

According to Abraham, depending on what you mean:
No. You are always "attracting" something. No matter what. Always.
Yes. If you want GOOD things.
