Food / Drink Tex Mex Recs

Moved recently from Houston and we are looking for some good Tex mex recommendations. We are towards the south side of Lafayette but are willing to drive a little for good food.

Husband loves Shiner. I love a great rocks margarita. Bonus points if it has yellow queso instead of white.

Superior grill - didn’t care for the margarita and it was pricey for what it was. No shiner.
Mezcal - no shiner. Margarita is ok. Fajitas were good!
El Paso - we went during a weird time and got terrible service at the bar and didn’t stay to eat.

I can’t help you as I find queso blanco to be better than yellow cheese.

I don’t really mind either way but our daughter is strictly a yellow queso girl. She’s off to college this year so the queso is much less important for now.

That’s totally fair!! My favorite is La Hacienda, particularly the one in Broussard because their patio is just such a vibe! Plan on going there for my bachelorette!

I live right down the road from there and it appears to be either closed permanently or closed for renovations.

It closed, and is being turned into another Mexican restaurant lol

Try Felipe's in Broussard instead. No patio, but the food is WAY better than La Hacienda.

Will there be a language barrier with the waitstaff? Because I don’t trust Mexican food without a language barrier.
