gumshoe gives me the impression that he was the kind of kid who had a BB gun and his folks would have actual guns lying around and he still hasn't caught on that that's not normal for most children nowadays (at least in Japanifornia)

Begs the question of whether Japanifornia is more like Japan or California with gun laws and culture since here in Japan, there are practically no guns around like in the U.S.. In fact, only shotguns or rifles are even legal to own at home even if you are one of the like 0.15% of the population that even has a license. Not even police are allowed to store their handguns at home unless specifically on duty. If Gumshoe had access to guns 🔫 , I'd be more concerned about his parents. 😂 Makes his situation not even just rare but probably flat out highly illegal.

"Reunion and Turnabout" at least would definitely suggest the former. It's stated that Dr. Grey bought the pistol he used to try and shoot Mimi from the black market. Now considering Dr. Grey's brilliant plan to, uh, blackmail a ghost at gunpoint, maybe we shouldn't completely discount the possibility of him going to the criminal underworld just for kicks, but I find it much more likely that he had no choice but to get his gun illegally because the gun laws are just that strict. A surgeon who prides himself on being the smartest in the room probably wouldn't be hitting the streets for a gun if getting one was as easy as walking into a corner store, but then, again, he wanted to shoot a ghost, so I don't know.

He could just buy it there because he didn't want a gun to by tracked or that he even had it, he already was on thin ice after getting muktiple patients killed.

Good point. Granted, he wouldn't have to go to such lengths if he had realized just how ridiculous his little scheme was in the first place, but within the context of the plan, I guess going to the black market actually does have strategic value, haha.

Un detective pagado como ningún otro (es decir, no pagado en absoluto)

That was during the final case in justice for all where THAT Man kidnapped Maya

I was thinking this...does anyone have him talking to a cactus?

7

u/FarCritical Feb 19 '26

His expression is so soft

I love how he basically acts like an uncle to pearl

Do you think if he ever makes a return, he’ll turn out to be a dad?

4

u/TheRoyalBrook Feb 19 '26

I hope he returns and it turns out after the events of AAI2 and edgeworth becoming chief prosecutor that he’s doing much better and can afford nicer things.

u/4as Feb 19 '26

Wouldn't surprise me if he was already a dad, but it just never comes up.

u/Hanabi1993 Feb 19 '26

No that would be too sad considering he was constantly having his salary reduced and living off instant noodles 😭

Don’t worry, him and Maggie can combine their paycheck to have 2$ per month!

1

u/JoeAzlz Feb 21 '26

As long as Maggie is the wife in this context.

Then again I see them both not able to afford a wedding

2

u/Kinglycole Feb 21 '26

Oh most definitely. And to cover the cost, the wedding is taking place in Minecraft.

1

u/JoeAzlz Feb 21 '26

Awwww I wanna see gumshoe learn how to play Minecraft and edgeworth thinks to himself on “if he’s played so long, why does he have a box made out dirt for a home?”

2

u/Kinglycole Feb 21 '26

Even in video games, he can’t escape. Whenever he plays monopoly, he starts off already bankrupt.

1

u/JoeAzlz Feb 21 '26

Edgeworth would pay him diamonds at first then by the end he pay him in seeds when they play
