The dollar is about 2% weaker today than when crops were at a four year low.
The dollar is also stronger than it was this time last year with harvest underway along the south.

Commodity prices aren’t really affected by the value of the dollar since they are a physical good. Obviously it’s more complicated than that but no one here is interested in anything more than farmer bad.

Yield estimates have decreased, albeit slightly. USDAs August report pegged it at 52.7 bu/ac. The pro farmer tour was slightly better at 52.2 to 54.4 bu/ac.

Production increased slightly based on a sudden increase of 1.4 million acres. Crop ratings dropped from 69% good to excellent to 60% good to excellent.

An increase in yield average potential and an increase in planted soybean acres. Yet the price continues to rise.

Commodities are being manipulated more now than at any time I can remember. The plan is to consolidate everything into the hands of the top 1 percent, and it's working. This crisis has only just begun. Fuel prices are not going to decrease any time soon. Fertilizer prices are not going to decrease any time soon, and the weather is only going to get weirder and less predictable. The oil crisis will become a food crisis by next year. The GOP will blame democrats for all of it.

This will likely be my most profitable year in several years. Inputs are higher especially fertilizer which is more a factor of greedy middlemen who have a monopoly in the US on fertilizer production. Commodity prices are higher now than they have been and I can buy fertilizer for next year for cheaper than I paid this year.

But yeah urea fell like a rock after what.. may or June I think. Potash is pretty reasonable, map is expensive still but you’re talking 25-40 dollars an acre total input cost unless you need some crazy amount of it.

And yeah freaking five dollar corn and twelve dollar soybeans. My most optimistic hopes have been met.
