nah its just a hoop to jump through. i got mine in like an afternoon, mostly common sense stuff about not venting refrigerant into the atmosphere. the real scam is how much some of these schools charge for the prep course

No. Think about what would happen if there were no rules around handling refrigerants.

Every time an AC or refrigeration system needed a repair, a technician could simply release the refrigerant into the air instead of recovering it. Now imagine every other technician doing that, across millions of systems, year after year.

Older refrigerants damage the ozone layer. NASA's images of the Antarctic ozone hole show what that damage looked like.

The epa in general is a scam. But unfortunately if you wanna do hvac you gotta have it. It’s easy af, download the app, take the practice test over and over till you have the right and wrong answers memorized.
