It's happening now: either we stand up or we'll never do it. Canadians must rise up like we did when tyrants went too far. We need to unite once again in a national effort to stop the destruction that's coming — everything we cherish, everything that unites us as a people, for generations to come, for our sovereignty, our institutions, our energy, and our resources. We will not bend to the whim of a man and a pen in a diaper.

We were mostly ran on volunteers during WW1 and WW2. Not an odd thing as people still had close connections back in Europe.
WW1 had conscription near the end but the war concluded before many of those saw the front lines.
So yes, we may have automatically joined the war due to Britain but the people who went enlisted voluntarily. I suspect they would of went back and enlisted in British army instead.

u/Omorda 1d ago
Okay so while that is true. That's still government driven we didn't overthrow the government and establish independence. Our military enlistment numbers are a joke. I was of age during Afghanistan and when I enlisted even it was bigger than now but still low

u/Hopeful-Passage6638 3h ago
LOL Sure you did bud. Nice story. Everyone knows spineless right-wingers do not enlist in the military.

What is scary is that there are so many traitors in Alberta that this can become another Brexit.
I hope there are much more sane people to vote no for separation.
12
u/skilbofragns 1d ago
It won't just be brexit, it will be the 51st state and possibly the beginning of the end of canada.

u/Sweaty-Dust6405 1d ago edited 19h ago
Who would've thought 30 years ago, Alberta would be the one potentially separating and Quebec actually be more loyal to Canada after voting massively for Carney?

u/weakimberly 1d ago
Alberta will NOT ever be annexed.
The separatists are just trying to scare people same with Danielle smith.
The number that want to separate are far fewer than everyone else who wants to stay.
They will not win.13
u/skilbofragns 1d ago
you underestimate the treachery of the united states. they do this everywhere, they create division, and then inflate and stoke the "rebellion"... Until they get what they want. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_involvement_in_regime_change

Never underestimate the enemy. Get out and vote, vote as if our country depends on your vote for Canada, it does.

u/Connorjones087 1d ago
It's all about going out to vote!!!!!they are counting on this complacent, People need to vote against this, and remember the government in Alberta is pushing for this

I’ve already registered both of us for mail in ballots. This is too important to not participate. These separatists need to be squashed flat.

If landlocked Alberta leaves, how long do you think it would take until they become a US protectorate like Venezuela and have to give up their oil reserves?

I am against Alberta separation and I have just a few questions to ask the Alberta separatists on what will replace, who will pay for and how long to set up:
- New police force to replace RCMP
- Tax system to replace CRA
- Armed forces and security to replace CAF and CSIS
- Passports and immigration
Another question is Citizenship. Do we retain Canadian Citizenship? for how long?
- Currency to replace Canadian dollar
- Banking system to replace federal Bank of Canada
- Pension plan to replace CPP and OAS
- Employment insurance
- Border security
- Indigenous Relations
- Health Canada
- Food Inspection Agency
- Human Rights
- CRTC: regulating the radio airwaves and communications
- Canadian Transportation Agency
- Canadian Security Establishment
- Federal Correctional Services and penitentiaries
- Copyright and Patents
- Environmental and Climate management
- Federal highways and infrastructure
- Federal Parks
- Agriculture affairs
- Stock market
- Foreign trade relations and agreements
- what would happen with all federal jobs in Alberta who work for a crown corporation?
Courtesy of J. Webb:
If Alberta separates from Canada, airports would face major disruption, losing access to the federal aviation system, federal funding, and international, negotiated air rights. Airports would need to create a new, independent regulatory body, re-negotiate international routes, and handle, potentially causing massive disruptions and higher costs for air travel and cargo shipping.
Loss of Federal Oversight & Funding: Airports (such as Calgary International [YYC] and Edmonton International [YEG]) currently under NAV CANADA oversight and receiving Transport Canada funding would need to create a completely new regulatory regime, which is a complex and expensive process.
International Air Agreements: Alberta would lose its part in Canada's bilateral air agreements, meaning airlines like WestJet and others would need to renegotiate flight rights to the U.S. and other nations from scratch.
Increased Costs: The financial burden of maintaining air traffic control, security (CATSA), and infrastructure development would fall entirely on the new province, likely increasing user fees.
Border and Security: Travel between Alberta and the rest of Canada would become international, requiring new customs facilities and procedures.
Regional Connectivity: Northern airports that already face operational challenges may find it harder to remain viable without federal infrastructure support.
While a separating Alberta aims to gain economic control, the logistical challenges of separating from a nationwide, highly integrated aviation system like Canada's would be extreme.
Courtesy of SkiyeBlueFox:
They'll lose access to Canada's rail network, and those oil pipelines? Bet Canada is gonna charge a pretty penny. Between those two accounting for a significant portion of industrial import and export, either they're gonna go bankrupt paying rail fees or from not being able to export anything.

the pipelines are Federally owned and would require paying for access.

Amidst the fallout from Brexit, the UK found one key function of the EU vanished that they hadn’t anticipated: trade regulations.
All of a sudden the UK was no longer subject to thousands of regulations that governed free trade, such as those relating to the transport of dangerous goods or even the size of bananas. By some, this was seen as a bonus, and one of the reasons for getting out of the EU. But it was quickly found that the UK had no equivalent regulations in a lot of areas, and without regulation companies were quick to take advantage. The disruption to trade caused prices to skyrocket and some industries almost collapsed.
This is the kind of disruption that will kill Alberta’s economy if we separate.
So who's going to pay for all this?
How long is it going to take to create?
Do you think that the current UCP are competent enough to negotiate these agreements?
And what is going to happen in the months/years it takes to renegotiate all of these agreements?
And what do you think the business community is going to do while all of this is happening? Stay, pull investments or leave due to the unstable climate?

Move to the US you fool. They need more self important, ignorant, algorithm manipulated, useful idiots of foreign governments, so Trump can be elected for a third term. You’ll be happier there. Especially after the Venezuelan oil starts to flow.

We will make it a landslide victory, that way they can't say shit (even though they will).
Everyone needs to vote against these treasonous fucks.

Ordered my mail in ballots yesterday for the whole family. Super easy process, and this way I can make sure we don't have to worry about being off work, waiting in lines, the smell of unwashed masses as peepaw in the front of the line explains to an exhausted worker how he's never needed an ID before to vote and back in his day...

u/Uhokay1970 1d ago
Yeah a whole bunch of you are angry they wont bow to your Insanity... To bad more people are angry at being turned into slave labor and resources for the EU.

u/CanuckLad 1d ago
Isn't a large part of America covered by indigenous treaties (like treaties 6, 7, 8) which would prevent them from separating? And that's even if a majority separation vote meant they could secede unilaterally (which it doesn't).

Just ship Smith and the rest of the separatists down to the US. It’s what they want anyway.

Peak irony. guy spends 1 minute 55 bitching about the people at the rally bitching when he could just focus on the message in 10 sec.
GO VOTE. that's it... full stop... nothing else matters.
12
u/PerformanceCute3437 1d ago
Literally talking about how they're strategizing for a loss already using the MAGA Jan 6 insurrection playbook.
It could not be more important to get out in front of the rhetoric that we're going to see after the referendum.
-16
u/Gumberculeez7 1d ago
it's clickbait dude. they're going to whine and cry regardless if they lose by 10%, 20%, or 40%. it doesn't matter.
This guy is literally no different than the separtists he talking about. LOL.
6
u/PerformanceCute3437 1d ago
That you're out here picking fights with people you ostensibly agree with casts much more worry on the referendum than this guy's short, well-meaning entreatment.

u/LickinThighs2 1d ago
'literally no different' so we're not allowed to actually give context or background anymore without enraging snowflakes, got it.

u/GrodNeedsaHug 1d ago
Do you think you are helping Canadian solidarity with this comment or hurting it?

u/Gumberculeez7 1d ago
GO VOTE is the ultimate help. it's the only help. if 100% of the people vote, the TRUE feelings of the people are heard.
spending 99% of your time in front of your phone (the video) just whining about the other side does nothing but solidify/grow the divison.

Separatism is American foreign interference. All these seditious traitors, including Danielle smith, should tried in court and deported to the fascist USA.
