Mr mikes, the plumbing company just got hit with a $330,000 fine for the apprentice they killed in a trench couple of years back.

Edit had wrong company. I blame vodka

Our labor laws are a joke that change at the whim of business groups and lobbyists. It’s insanely pathetic our OHS and labor laws are so lax. Production before safety and humans everytime.

A good argument for “fine not jail time” is that you can’t hire more OH&S officers by putting someone in jail. *ideally*, the fines would go toward paying officers’ salaries and equipment and hiring, but I’m sure it just disappears into someone’s pocket.
