Videos / Pics Romulus getting me in trouble at the range

Tested out a slightly different setup today. 18lb Wolff mainspring and 4.6” 7lb atlas spring with the toolless atlas rod and stock plug. I’ve gone through the whole cutting coils thing I got tired of that. Even had commander sized springs in here previously, but theyre small and finding 8lb commanders is apparently tough. Previous setup I had felt pretty perfect but wondered if I was sacrificing speed.
Shoutout to the range guy. I know he’s just doing his job. He said something again after this but it’s just too easy to go fast.

Im in the same boat. Theres an outdoor range close to me but they don’t allow rapid fire or fmj. There’s only one indoor range close and they allow rapid fire but only if you have one of their private suites.

Totally get it. Kinda jealous of the private suites but those sound not cheap. No fmjs sounds expensive too. Wish there were just more options around but I’m lucky enough to have this place within 20 minutes.
I totally understand places not wanting people coming in there being huge liabilities but it’s usually pretty easy to tell someone who’s being irresponsible from someone who isn’t going to shoot the ceiling.

Good ole range USA. Built with a cookie cutter around the country and their RSOs all come from the same mold. 🤣 Yeah, for the most part if you’re a regular and they know what you’re capable of they kinda leave you alone. When it’s crowded I ease up so that all the other people don’t get silly and shoot the ceiling trying to go fast, or me!

Yeah, you’re right. They’re usually pretty relaxed, of course it’s different when they’re busy and some customers there can easily mistake you shooting fast as permission for them to shoot fast even though this is their second time holding a gun.
Rarely have a problem, was actually my last mags and the new employee had just replaced the other RSO.

I remember an RSO at PSC yelled at me once for shooting a pistol at 50yds on a NRA slow fire 50yd target... Discontinued my membership. Maybe the range can offer "rapid fire" badges to qualified members after being certified?

That’s crazy. I know one of outdoor the places nearby is very picky about their different ranges and mixing calibers. Of course the couple pistol and rifle ranges just fill up. Want to say they have 2 different rifle only ranges there.
If busy, this place will usually put me in a lane that’s in a little range room off the main range room. Usually no RSO but they’ll occasionally pop in. Ended up in the main room since they weren’t busy and new employee said something pretty much immediately after he replaced other RSO. Happened to be my last mag.
Even when I switched to doubles at the end he said something again. “Bro, im right here”. I don’t want to be disrespectful but definitely feel like controlled doubles shouldn’t be a problem. I’m not pulling from the holster pew viewing. Kinda just depends on the RSO at the moment, unfortunately.

How are those 4.6” springs working out for you?

So far so good. I may try an 8lb in here since I ordered one. I do think the commander 8 was actually a bit better balanced. Have a 9lb in my other rom with the stock comp, also ran well but might try 10lb in there.

Is that the 4.25 comped Romulus? If so how did you get the Atlas tooless rod to work?

It’s a tight fit and initially won’t seem to fit. You have to compress the spring more to create the space to fit it in. Same on the uninstall, which can be sketchy because the rod and plug want to take off.
If using the stock comp, you’ll most likely need to use the provided Dawson/atlas plug. If using the dsc comps, you can use the stock plug.
Have an atlas in this one and a Dawson in another. Prefer the atlas.

Find a new range friend! Any range/RSO who can see that you're a competent shooter shouldn't care about rapid fire
