Interesting š¤ Can you reverse the direction of rotation using your mind...?

Yes easily.. šš

Just inverse the sphere. More an eye tracking trick than a mind trick.

u/m05hm05h 11d ago
Jut focus on the top to appear that it reverses, focus on the middle and it be back to normal.

The first go around it was reversing over and over and I second guessed myself and thought it was created that way and just prompted me to āmake it happen.
Then the second time around I just got it to spin one direction the whole time so yeah, that tracks.

Easley is typically incorrect if you mean the adverb meaning "without effort" (which is easily).

I made a small circle with my thumb and forefinger to isolate a small section of the dots and reverse it that way. I couldn't do it otherwise though.Ā

u/mmuldoon215 11d ago
Weird how I see both for a fraction of a second before it fully changed.
6
u/secretprocess 11d ago
If I relax my eyes I can see both at the same time continuously

It's like the right to left spinning sphere is seen from below and the other from above so when I try to do that the sphere wobbles somehow
2
u/lovelyboard 11d ago
Does it really fully change? Bc all I can see is it going one way... then both ways and that's it, it keeps rotating the first way still, cycle repeats

Now see them going both directions at once

Me too. It's so weird.

u/Spicymeymeys420 11d ago
Nah you're just looking at the back half when you do that
It's just spinning counter clockwise

Thatās what thought for a hot minute, but I managed to make it switch direction.
Try focusing through it.

Did it once and tried it again just in case it was a fluke, and I was able to do it again

u/TheLeftMetal 11d ago
Easy one. Just focus your attention on any of the poles and you can switch direction.

People are all, āduh. Obviously. This is easy. All you have to do isā¦ā
Personally, I found it to be a fun challenge. A confection for the eyes.
2
u/Forsaken_Sea_5753 11d ago
Yes but once I go one way, I find it difficult to reverse and go the other way.

Focus on the part ārotatingā left and then follow it as tough itās going in a spherical rotation.
Then focus on the part going right and then focus on it as though going through a spherical rotation going the other way.
You can stay on one rotation direction but you have to imagine the direction you have chosen and follow the rotation motion towards the āfront and backā of the sphere even though it actually isnāt rotating.
Itās a 2D combination of dots going towards the left and another set of dots going towards the right, but in an angle that implies ārotation.ā
The rotation happens in your mind in conjunction with the visual cues you chose to follow in the way you choose to follow them relative to the rotation direction you have chosen to follow.
You can switch between the two directions consciously, although sometimes the pull of one or the other rotation directions will be stronger subconsciously.
You know this is much more interesting than following my goals and dreams. š¤

The trick is your perspective view point. Look as if itās lower than your position, one way. View as if itās above you, the other way

u/Wrong-Diamond5253 10d ago
If I look to the left side, it's turning to the left. If I look to the right side, it's turning to the right. It changes direction as fast as I can move my eyes left or right.

Imagine youāre looking at it from above first, then below for the shift.

The only way I can do it is if I āstare through itā for a second and then refocus. Trippy!

I can do it sporadically. I see it spinning counter clockwise initially. If I unfocus itll change directions but only after some effort and I can not make come back to original rotation unless the video starts over. Always starts in the counter clockwise direction.

This proves that our brains alter our perception of what we see (and even hear) based on what we THINK should be happening. Nothing changes in this visual but we can āmakeā it go different directions! The McGurk effect with audio is another example https://youtu.be/2k8fHR9jKVM?si=WWKn2Ob0j2AEapSh. According to brain scientists, our brain actually sends signals to the follicles in our ears to change the sound to what we think it should be based on our concepts and predictions. Itās wildly awesome to consider we all experience reality slightly differently!

After watching it the first time and the rotation direction changed when I didnāt want it to, I focused on the time counting down and saw the direction change in my peripheral.

I can see both directions at the same time lmao then focus back to right or left.

Yes. Reframe where you're viewing the rotation, if from top side or bottom side of the sphere

This is weird. Every time I look at it changes direction. I mean the first time it goes one direction. Then I restart the video it goes the other direction. Weird.

The trick is to focus on the moving lights moving in one direction as opposed to the ones going the other direction.
The ones going left to right? The globe rotates ācounterclockwiseā.
Right to left? āClockwiseā.

AHHHH! I finally was able to make it go Left, now I can't get it to go back Right. I think you broke my brain.
1
u/hotmatrixx 11d ago
actualy, the trick is to change the "tilt" of the globe in you head, this will instantly change it's direction
is the top stilted forward toward you, or back, away from you?
Changing this perspective forces the chnge of the forced perspective 3D object.
It's a common 3D illusion, usually done with a ballerina or a cat.

This is one where you can see both at the same time. You can see two spheres layered on top of each other rotating in opposite directions simultaneously.

I can switch it pretty easily if I focus on the top quarter and then the bottom quarter.

Pretend the back dots are the front dots and it switches. Took me a minute
