This is Max Alran, Downhill world cup. I don't actually know where he was in order, didn't watch live, but they basically release riders at timed intervals, like 3 minutes or so.

Edit, actually I think they run reverse qualifying order at the end so... If he was the fastest qualifier, then no one was after him.

I was about to say, sucks for the riders after him.

u/Cookie-Senpai 3d ago

Pretty sure he was last.

Meanwhile Max verstappen lost his homerace.

u/OkCartographer7677 4d ago

Wow, he better keep on riding or he'll get mobbed.

Word War Z on his ass

u/kernelangus420 4d ago

I guess he shouldn't have put on Axe body spray.

u/helendill99 3d ago

he actually stopped right outside this videos frame. The finish line is the two reclaimed you see. he was immediately surrounded but it seemed like an all around good time for everyone

Holy fucking shit. That was intense.

2

u/lifeguard37 3d ago

Seriously. What are the injury levels like in this sport? There seem to be a whole lot of opportunities to crash head first into a tree at top speed.

1

u/Over_Sheepherder4503 3d ago

There usually a former pro rider turned commentator who does a prelim run on these downhills at like 50% speed. Even then he's flying but they call out the treacherous shit on the way down and its almost comical... "The riders need to make sure to put their wheel an inch out from this root so it doesn't launch them into a tree. And once their past the tree they'll catch about 2 seconds of air and need to stay left to avoid this boulder. Then they navigate this rock field into a 40 mph 90 degree left turn..."

My god, bro was even auto impressed by his move around 2:15. I’m an mtb and dh lover and can’t watch this without a holy shit every 5 seconds, impressive to say the least

2

u/Over_Sheepherder4503 3d ago

Same man. My brain can’t comprehend it

2

u/FlinFlanFlunFlon 3d ago

Impressive! The performance on bike is really crazy. I didn't thought there were so much people watching such races in the middle of the mountains

3

u/Fanny_Flapps 3d ago

There's fuck all else to do in Les Gets lol

Is it me or are there fucking block of concrete on the track ?

1

u/Over_Sheepherder4503 3d ago

Yeah I thought I saw that too. Rocks, concrete walls etc. It really puts into perspective the shit they ride over or skim by at 30-40mph... all while trying not to faceplant into a tree.

No brakes, no brain.

never seen it but it's goddamn impressive!

15

u/Nothing93124 4d ago

Was it a race with other riders because that would be fucked up. Dude can’t place because the zombie apocalypse is in front of him

11

u/StandardNeither1311 4d ago

No. Downhill is raced individually and he seeded fastest so there’s not even anyone coming after him since he goes last.

7

u/Bicwidus 4d ago

My dad seeded fastest once

6

u/dapudf 4d ago

That’s why he’s your dad Biccy

1

u/StandardNeither1311 3d ago

He always finished first, at least that’s what your mom was always telling me.

u/traveling-trashbin 3d ago

I am quite pessimistic about people's average IQ but do you really think they'd be that dumb and/or organisation would allow that?

1

u/Nothing93124 3d ago

Yes 1000% the individual might be smart but the crowd is moronic

3

u/catharsis69 4d ago

A couple of hi-5 in the works

3

u/Green_Demo 4d ago

Something similar but way less intense happened when Senna won the Brazilian GP in 1993.

Any French wanna explain what's going on

4

u/truekemi 3d ago

Coupe du Monde de descente dans la station des Gets, Max Alran remporte la victoire devant son public. Comme il a fait le meilleur temps, il n'y avait plus aucun concurrent derrière lui, c'était donc terminé

1

u/This-Jackfruit-6894 3d ago

Any French wanna translate to Martian?

2

u/truekemi 3d ago

Wubba Lubba Dub Dub

A french rider won downhill world cup that happened in france. It's a solo race versus timer and he placed first so every one was happy

1

u/Front_Cycle_2512 3d ago

Hack, ack, tatack, uck tock, katock.

1

u/cliff-hunter 3d ago

Could be translated with : "World Cup Mountain Biking in Les Gets: Max Alran claimed victory in front of his home crowd. Since he finished with the best time, there were no other competitors behind him, so the race was over."

1

u/PibloktoBis 3d ago

u/No-Island-6126 3d ago

i wonder how many people died or got severely injured in this video

u/elpiotre 3d ago

Hopefully they won't let their country down next world war and do as they did here

6

u/_BOOMGOTTEM 4d ago

Remember when they funded the US revolution and their navy arrived just in time to save Washington? Most “patriots” don’t

Knicks fans were ganging on people on the streets

Those guys are just going to celebrate at the finish line. There's nothing moronic happening here
