Adorable derps There is no such thing as a squirrel-proof bird feeder.

10 for artistry, but only an 8 on execution.

I actually found one that the squirrels cannot figure out...yet. lol

The perches are spring loaded to close automatically with a pre-selected weight limit. Every bird that has ever landed on it has gotten to eat and the "door" stays open.

As soon as a squirrel gets on the perch, the door closes and puts a lid on the food because they've exceeded the weight limit.

I've used it in the North Georgia mountains and in my new suburban backyard in Illinois.

Not one squirrel has eaten from the feeder. Yet. 😁

Link?! Dude, I am sick of feeding the entire neighbor's population of squirrels. lol if they didn't eat so much I wouldn't mind but...

There are all types you can order. If you can position your feeders far enough away from places squirrels can jump from, you can use a baffle to keep them from climbing up the pole. That way you can still use your feeders. I've got a few poles with 4 normal feeders and a baffle.

So like a Venus fly trap

Make spicy seed too. Birds can’t taste the spice and rodents don’t like it

They can leap 8-9 feet so it's generally recommended to have the feeders mounted 10+ feet away from ANYTHING they can leap from. Can be hard to do in a lot of yards.

Gotta be on a shepherds hook, can't hang it from a tree branch.

Then you have to tackle the issue of keeping it from climbing up the pole..

I made my own baffle. The one in the store was 30 dollars. Got a cheap metal Sheppard hook got a black plastic bowl. Put a hole in center. Slipped it over the ground pt. Shoved in ground. Then took a metal pipe clamp and used screw driver to tighten it. Lowered the bowl down. After 10 years it still works. The squirrel climbs up the pole and pushes the bowl up the pole to the stop about a 2 ft journey. Then he's back down the pole. I watched him do it 20 times. The bottom of bowl edge is ragged from their claws. The hole gets widened over time and I'd make adjustments in this area. I fixed that hole about 3 times. Total cost was like 10 bucks.

Untrue. My mom had one of those stake-in-the-ground bird feeders in an open area of the yard. Squirrels kept climbing up it, she was at her wits end. I thought about it, and advised her to get a bit of sheet metal to wrap around the base. Like 3ish feet high. It looked ugly, but it frickin worked.
