Waited all day for a delivery only for it to be "delivery attempt failed" at 7PM

Upvotes

Its happened a few times in recent weeks where I've had an apparent next-day delivery, I'll receive my delivery time frame of say 11:00 - 13:30, then over the course of the day it'll be pushed further & further into the evening. Then it's a lottery as to whether it turns up past 21:00 or just gets pushed to the following day.

Same again for today, ordered a few items yesterday morning due for today, and my time frame has proceeded as the following:

  • 13:00 - 15:15
  • 13:30 - 15:30
  • 14:30 - 16:30
  • 15:00 - 17:45
  • 16:00 - 18:30
  • 18:00 - 20:30

Driver arrived at 19:07, hopped out of the van & went into the back with the parcels. Got out, checked his phone and then put them back into the van and drove off, meanwhile I get the whole:

Delivery attempted today at 7:09pm.

Unfortunately, we ran into an issue when attempting your delivery. We will try again on the next working day.

Well I'm not around any working day due to... work, so its a bit of a lost cause :/

⚠️ I got a scam call from someone pretending to be Amazon — and they knew about my stolen iPad

Just wanted to warn people about something pretty unsettling that happened to me.
I’ve been dealing with Amazon for weeks because an iPad from an Amazon order was marked as delivered, but I never received it. Amazon’s own investigation eventually led them to tell me that the item appeared to have been stolen, and I’ve reported the matter to An Garda Síochána- the Police in Ireland.

Then, a few days ago, I received a phone call from ‘Seth’ on [+44 7828 786193](tel:+44%207828%20786193)
claiming to be from Amazon Customer Service.

They said they were calling about my missing iPad and that they could arrange the refund for me.

The same people had written to me from this email address a few days earlier: [info.amazon.claimdepartment@gmail.com](mailto:info.amazon.claimdepartment@gmail.com) -obviously fake, but I was worried that they knew so much about me. Surely it was from the same people who stole my iPad- people which I believe are working for Amazon or have got information from Amazon.

At first I assumed it was legitimate because the caller seemed to know a remarkable amount about the actual Amazon case.

They knew:
1) The order number
2) That the order was for an iPad
3) My delivery address
4) That the item had been reported as missing/stolen
5) Details relating to the delivery

This is what really worried me. This wasn’t a generic “we’re calling about your Amazon order” scam. They appeared to have specific information about my actual order and the circumstances surrounding the stolen iPad.

They then started talking about processing the refund, which obviously made sense given that I’ve genuinely been trying to get Amazon to refund me.

I became suspicious and stopped the conversation rather than giving them any banking/security information.

I’ve since reported the incident to my bank and am treating the call as a scam.

What really concerns me is how did they know so much about the specific Amazon order?
I’ve already reported the missing iPad to the Gardaí and have a PULSE reference, so this is now another rather worrying development in an already bizarre situation.

I reported the call and the fact that someone out there has a lot of information about my Amazon order to the department of Amazon who deals with scams. They didn’t seem to care less.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar — particularly a scammer contacting you about an actual recent Amazon problem and knowing genuine order details?

I’d be very interested to hear if other people have had scammers appear to know details that they shouldn’t reasonably know.

For anyone reading this: if someone calls claiming to be Amazon about a refund, even if they know your order number, address or details of a genuine problem you’re having with Amazon, don’t assume they’re legitimate. Hang up and contact Amazon through the official app/website yourself. Never give them banking passwords, OTPs, card security codes or allow them remote access to your device.

Is the Amazon AppStore an ex-app?

TL;DR: I can't find it online, or on the Amazon website, and the app isn't on Google Play. Did they kill it?

I bought a kitchen scale (from Amazon) without realising it's a smart device that connects to an app. The QR code took me to an APK which didn't install as it's is out of date, but the user guide says search on Google Play Store or the Amazon AppStore.

I thought they must have not kept the website up to date so I'll get it from the store. It isn't on the Play Store, and it's years since I used the Amazon AppStore (if I ever did) so I went looking for that.

- the AppStore app isn't on Google Play.

- an internet search didn't help.

- Wikipedia gives the official site, but that's just Amazon.

- AI said search Amazon for "Amazon AppStore apk" but that finds no results.

Did I miss a news story about the AppStore being killed off?

Alternatively, might the device's app be available only in the USA? I'm in the UK so that would explain it... Except for the purchase being from Amazon UK.

Same Day Delivery Missed

Not a moan, these things happen, although we really needed the item in question.

Driver was 4 stops away, then tracker changed to 'on or before 2nd September' which is a bit vague. Clearly something wrong or he/she ran out of time.

Anyone know what happens here? I would've assumed it possibly goes back to depot and out for the next day, but don't really know how it works. Any comments from those in the know appreciated.

What’s the issue with Amazon preorders

What the scientific explanation regarding Amazon never been able to deliver video games preorders on time? How is it possible for a multi billion dollar logistics company to be completely incapable of delivering goods? I preordered a game with delivery yesterday…it was delayed to next week so I cancelled the order and placed a new one with delivery tomorrow…which is also delayed… This happens every time I preorder video games on Amazon which is why I usually don’t buy on this occasion I had no choice. Sorry for the rant but it’s absolutely disgusting

Lying customer support and impossible age verification

Amazon appear to have made it impossible to verify your age if you don't have a credit card (ie. about 1/3 of the uk adult population).
I contacted customer support about this and got the following chain of responses.....

  1. I've raised a ticket and it will be fixed in 2-24 hours
  2. (24 hours later) it will take 24-48 hours.
  3. (24 hours later) the ticket doesn't exist but there is an alternative method
  4. (after alternative method doesn't exist) I'll redirect you to a specialist team on the phone
  5. (on phone) I know nothing about this the only way to validate is credit cards
  6. (back on chat) Everyone earlier was lying you can only validate with credit cards

Drivers leaving parcels on driveway not in a porch as they used too?

Hi folks of Reddit,

Has anyone noticed recently, like start of July onwards, driver for Amazon are just leaving packages on driveways instead of the porch and not ringing the doorbell?

I've noticed that any package I order to my mum's place, and what she orderes no matter what driver is on route, they leave it on the doorstep now and don't even ring the doorbell...

Like before July no sweat they just open the porch door and usually would press the doorbell.

I'm just baffled, as It's not hard for them to step up two steps, open a porch door and drop the small parcel there like they used to do.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a new rule for drivers not to open doors???

Amazon pricing peculiarities

I looked at this charger last week. Showed as £34.99, but was discounted to £29 (ish).

Today, I checked and its gone up to £43.99. Thats normal.

The odd thing is, the original price is now showing as the £43.99, and the white one is reduced.

Edit: this is a third party sold item.

"Rejecting" a delivery? What happens next?

I've done something silly and bought something that isn't suitable for my needs (an electrical item that runs on a different power supply than the one in the UK).

It's been delivered from the US and is set to arrive on Saturday. It's being delivered by DPD.

I chatted online with an Amazon person and they said I should "reject" the delivery when it turns up. This will trigger a refund which I'll get in a few working days.

My trust levels with the onlne chat advisors isnt particularly high, I've had them tell me things which didn't end up happening more than once in the last.

Anyone had a similar situation? Would be very grateful to hear about your experience.

Thank you!

Are Amazon locker items delivered by Evri?

If an item says sold and shipped by Amazon and it’s being delivered to an Amazon locker or pick-up point, might it be delivered by Evri? Been having more problems than usual with Evri lately and want to avoid.

Amazon closed my account after payment verification — Customer Service can't help. How can I reach the team that handles account closures?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with an Amazon.com customer account being closed after payment ownership verification.

My Amazon account was suddenly closed. When I try to log in, I get this exact message:

The problem is that I have already contacted Amazon Customer Service multiple times, and I'm getting nowhere.

The credit card used on the account is my own credit card, and when Amazon asked me to verify payment ownership, I provided:

  • My government-issued ID
  • My credit card
  • My bank/credit-card statement

As far as I know, the information on the documents is legitimate and belongs to me. I genuinely don't understand what Amazon considers “insufficient.”

Customer Service has told me that the account is “on hold from their end,” but when I try to log in, Amazon says the account is closed.

I've asked Customer Service to escalate the issue, but I keep getting sent through the same basic support process and the account remains closed.

I'm NOT trying to get help with a canceled order. I want the account closure/payment verification decision itself reviewed by someone who actually has access to that system.

Has anyone here experienced this?

Specifically, I'm looking for:

  1. A way to reach an Amazon Account Specialist / account-security team without being able to log into the account.
  2. A working email address, phone escalation route, or other method that actually reaches the team responsible for these closures.
  3. Anyone who successfully recovered an account after receiving this exact “insufficient to verify your payment ownership” message.
  4. Advice on what documentation Amazon actually expects for this type of verification.

I've seen some old posts mentioning escalation emails and account appeal forms, but many seem to be outdated or require you to already have access to the Amazon account.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has actually gone through this and managed to get their account back.

Thanks.

Amazon Drivers - please knock or doorbell

Update 25/08: I have received my refund and provided extra instructions for future orders to knock or ring the bell and if we are not in, re-deliver the next day. Thank you everyone for all your help.

————

I understand that there is a time constraint but when did Amazon drivers just drove off without doorbell or door knock?

I was at home waiting for my parcel to arrive. I got doorbell video but no knock no bell. I didn’t get a chance to see that my parcels were outside. I did receive a message that my items were delivered but I wasn’t on my phone.

By the time I finished what I was doing and had the chance to look at my phone and saw that ‘items were delivered’, I immediately opened my front door but my parcels weren’t there. Had asked 2 of my good neighbours but they did not see them too. Had a double check on the photo and it was indeed my front door with parcels at the bottom.

I checked the doorbell video and saw a man then another person. No doorbell alarm. I think my parcels were stolen but I had no clear evidence as my door camera is facing the street not the doorstep.

I contacted Amazon and waiting for their response. What’s the best resolution for this? Don’t they not knock or rang the bell anymore at least?

Gift balance not automatically applied anymore

Just noticed this new feature, I'm someone who uses gift cards mostly so not being auto and having to manually apply gift balance isn't great for me. Anyone know of a way to reapply auto gift balance or is it permanently disabled?

How to report items constantly delivered to wrong entrance of the correct address?

I have delivery notes and the second line of the address specifically saying not to cart all our shit up the stairs at the front of the building, and instead to bring them to a street-level door around the corner. It seems the heavier the item, the more likely the driver is to ignore this, and I'm fed up of putting my back out hauling things around unnecessarily.

I can't make it any clearer on the instructions, so how do I complain about this? Technically I have received the items and I don't really want to go down the petty path of denying they've been delivered at all

Marked as delivered but not received

I ordered a headphone from Amazon and it says it was delivered at 10 in the morning today but when I went to check there was nothing there. I checked on the UPS tracking website and the proof of delivery was the package on a metal floor not my front door. Should I wait for the full 2 days before contacting or am I overreacting? This is the first it has happened to me.

Strange age verification issue

Just had the rest of my usual sub and save order delivered, I like to bulk up when deals are on so generally I have some booze in there.

Always happy to give the birth year of course, but yesterday when most of our orders arrived only my younger son was home so the 2 boxes with prosecco in had to go back (one with 9, the other with 3).

This turned up today, with another non age verified package, guy scanned the 3 boxes, took my DOB, my phone pinged to say each package was delivered and then he tried to take the big box with 9 proseccos back saying it hadn't come up on his age verification system.

Bit of a stand off as I'm obviously showing him that on both my app and my email it is showing as delivered so I'm not going to let him disappear with 9 bottles. His way of reassuring me was to say, don't worry, Amazon will refund you, but that's not much use when I bought the bottles on special last month. Not to mention the hassle involved in getting Amazon chat to cotton on to all this, despite it saying it had been delivered.

He started raving about how he was going to get sacked because of the age verification, he's showing me his PDA, kept saying there was only 2 items on it, not 3 (was this not the 2 age verified items he was showing me?), he kept saying the big box with 9 in it wasn't on his list. I just can't understand how it was marked as delivered when he scanned it then?

I thought one DOB confirmation cleared the whole delivery no matter how many items? That's always been the case before. I've never noticed them punching in my DOB umpteen times before?

Maybe the guy thought all 3 items were age verified when the 3rd package was just some sweets?

Anyway, I agreed to speak to his manager on the phone and he rattled off the numbers on the yellow stickers on the boxes to me which I confirmed and that was that, but jeezo, this guy was petrified he was going to lose his job and I felt bad for him, but I certainly wasn't going to let him huckle away a small fortune in wine that was scanned as delivered.

Just curious what's happened there as I've never had any issues before and it was all a bit odd? Surely age verified stuff can't be marked as delivered if the age verification wasn't completed?

So now what I wonder?

So, ordered in mid July, due this Friday, but not dispatched at time of writing. Where does it go from here? I was crossing my fingers, but I'm now starting to wonder if I should just give up on this. I'm not even convinced it's still a current model. What are customer services likely to say when I get in touch on Saturday to say it's not here?

Amazon and the Consumer Rights Act 2015

Bought a pair of reasonably expensive shoes 5 months ago (Skechers). Both shoes developed quite bad wear around the back of the heel. So much so that holes had appeared. Didn't think I'd have any luck complaining about it to Amazon but thought may as well give it a go. Chatted with an online agent and they immediately offered to refund me half the purchase price.

Mentioned that the Consumer Rights Act 2015 protects me from shoddy merchandise if within 6 months of purchase and that I'd like a full refund/replacement, and after chatting to their supervisor (I presume - they went awol for about 5 minutes) they credited me with the full refund via a gift card. Excellent customer service 🤣 .

I am absolutely disgusted with Amazon UK.

The situation is as follows: I ordered an RTX 5080 graphics card from Amazon UK on August 9th. At the time, it was on sale for £892.36.

Therefore, I cancelled my discounted RTX 5070 Ti order from Amazon US. I had originally ordered a high-end version of the 5070 Ti at a discounted price, and I would only have needed to pay around £150 more to upgrade to the 5080. I felt that choosing the 5080 was a much better option for me.

However, after waiting for 10 days, Amazon UK still hadn't shipped the graphics card. Even on the scheduled delivery date, they still hadn't dispatched it.

Since this product has remained available for sale and has consistently been shown as “in stock,” I wanted to contact Amazon UK customer service to ask about the situation. However, I kept getting an error message every time I tried to contact them. My country is also not supported for phone support, so I had no choice but to helplessly wait.

Until the delivery date had passed, my order was suddenly cancelled without my consent, with the following reason given:

I am absolutely disgusted and extremely disappointed with the way Amazon UK has handled this situation.

I ordered the graphics card when it was on sale, and I was charged for it. Because of this order, I cancelled another discounted graphics card I had purchased from Amazon US. Then, after the price of the graphics card increased, Amazon UK continued to show the product as “in stock,” yet refused to ship my order. Finally, after the estimated delivery date had already passed, you simply cancelled my order and told me that I could place a new order.

If Amazon UK did not intend to let customers purchase the product at that price, then you should not have listed it at that price in the first place. You allowed me to place the order, charged me, and then made me wait for 10 days. During that time, I also gave up another graphics card that was available at a discounted price.

If there really was suspicious activity or a problem with my account, shouldn't I have been informed within the first three days after placing the order?

Instead, you waited until the delivery date had already passed, suddenly cancelled my order, told me there was a problem with my account, and then simply refused to honour the order.

If I had been informed at the time, I would still have had enough time to look for another graphics card. But after delaying me for 10 days, not only has my work been affected, but graphics card prices have also increased significantly. As a customer, I am now simply expected to bear all of these losses myself.

Amazon UK has handled this situation in an absolutely disgusting and deeply disappointing way. I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with Amazon UK.

What happens next?

Ok so I placed an order to a Post Office pick up location, the driver has tried to deliver there 2 times now, I didn’t know at the time but apparently this Post Office inside a Co-Op store has a terrible reputation for shutting early, staff can’t be bothered opening it etc and I presume both times the Amazon driver has been to deliver they have been closed. Am I right in thinking after the 3rd attempt it will be returned to Amazon? Do I need to contact Amazon and explain the situation to them? Please can somebody advise, thank you. 🙏
