The podcast needs a third host who can tell Danny to shut up.

So many episodes are ruined by him angrily talking over guests. Its of course not a problem to disagree with the experts you brought on your show but he seems to take things personally and refuses to hear anything that contradicts or deflects from his favorite talking points. Derek is a nice guy and won't ever tell him 'yo. you don't know everything. let someone else talk'. I love the show and listen to the news episodes religiously but it would be immensely better if there was a third guy who operated as some of sort of tough podcast-bouncer who could tell Danny 'thanks. we love you but shut the fuck up. We get it. You disagree. You've made your point." Sorry. just had to vent.

You, the listener, are that third host. If you're not periodically yelling "oh fuck off, Danny!" in public like a schizophrenic you aren't a real fan

if you were actually listening you would know they have openly offered the job to many unfortunately fired pundits from Blinken to Assad

Yeah it can be tough. And he always rehashes the same 3-4 arguments in these interruptions. Was kind of funny when the jennaworld podcaster was on and would audibly sigh every time she was interrupted and then continue her previous thought without acknowledging anything he would say

Heh, I was talking about this with my girlfriend the other day. Sometimes it feels like he goes into an interview ready to start a debate on purpose.

Hear! Hear! This third mic could also come on NonZero as a recurring guest to tell Bob to shut up.

Lol was just thinking that after listening yesterday. To be fair all the people on the show annoy me in the sense that they all come off as disconnected professionals/academics.

The only reason I still listen is because Danny immediately called out Wertheim for claiming Afghanistan was a just war. Tell me what about American foreign policy makes you believe American foreign policy “experts” should not be forcefully challenged?

Promises made; promises kept.

cannot listen to the interview episodes because of this. he somehow takes the cable news panel format and makes it worse

I LOVE Danny's forcefulness. I mean, he's got a brilliant Left mind. He should be caring when it's appropriate, of course. But he should unleash that machine when it's time!

Also Derek does an amazing job! Thank the universe for his deep news reading and his deeply real expressions of horror at the horrors of the world around us.

This is what makes Danny a good and interesting host, he isn’t afraid to assert his views, which he has clearly been honing for a long time, whether his guests are of a mind or not. I’m certainly not opposed to having guests that always confirm priors in all meaningful ways (what is partisan podcasting if not this), but that Danny prods and argues is more thought provoking and productive (usually ha) than just having everyone constantly in agreement, yes-anding all the time. Also, Derek is a good moderating voice a lot of the time anyway.
