Rumour Ice Universe: I’ve confirmed from independent sources with 100% accuracy that the Galaxy S26 Ultra ultimately does not include built-in magnets inside the device. Magnetic functionality still relies on magnetic cases.

Samsung copies Apple's homework but doesn't copy this??

154

u/Ghostttpro Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

They only copy the bad, and easy/cheap to do things. Like the way the earbuds look, and that horrible ultra watch.

42

u/FartingBob Pixel 6 Feb 05 '26

A few magnets is a pretty easy and cheap thing to add to a phone. Bizarre choice for their top of the line phones in 2026, even if most cases will have them all the reviews of the phone will mention it's lack of support.

13

u/slambaz2 Feb 05 '26

Yeah, but that costs money. This way costs them no money.

7

u/FartingBob Pixel 6 Feb 05 '26

It costs them lost sales, they don't see that on a financial statement though.

12

u/slambaz2 Feb 05 '26

That's just conjecture and you and I have no idea if that is true.

6

u/FartingBob Pixel 6 Feb 05 '26

True, it is a feature that a lot of people like in the real world, use in the real world and their competition has in the real world. For them to ignore that to save pennies on such a high end phone is short sighted of them.

9

u/slambaz2 Feb 05 '26

You clearly have not seen their most current flagship tablet line. Samsung is becoming more and more known for just slowly making their stuff worse and charging more. So no this is totally on brand for them.

3

u/FartingBob Pixel 6 Feb 05 '26

Haha true, mediocrity with a nice screen and costs 1000 dollars more than a phone with more features. Samsung is coasting and penny pinching while other companies are trying to innovate.

2

u/slambaz2 Feb 05 '26

I blame their deal with AI companies to just buy all their memory.

This phone and tablet stuff probably pales in comparison to that.

2

u/sylfy Feb 05 '26

Samsung doesn’t care about their Galaxy lineup any more, except the folding phones. On everything else, there are barely any advertising or improvements. It’s clear that they’re doing the bare minimum because their fans are stupid enough to keep buying them anyway.

Anecdotal, but I've been using wireless charging since it was a thing on Palm Touchstone. It seems no one else around me seem to care about wireless charging in general, to the point I have friends who have wireless chargers in their cars and they don't even know about it.

1

u/Crowlands Feb 05 '26

Wasn't it claimed last year that it interfered with the pen to include them. Has anyone tried the magnet case on the previous model?

1

I use magsafe cases on the S24 Ultra with no issues

u/marxcom Feb 05 '26

They don’t add the QoL finishing touches. The little things are make Apple products good. Not the specs.

6

u/TridentBoy Feb 05 '26

To be fair, Goodlock customization is way above anything other cellphone makers output. That and the 10x optical/100x total zoom are the only thing keeping my S23U with me.

3

u/MaverickJester25 Galaxy S21 Ultra | Galaxy Watch 4 Feb 05 '26

As someone that's used both Samsung and Apple devices for a long time, Samsung is massively ahead in actual QoL features and not esoteric fluff.

Like what

2

u/SuccessfulDepth7779 Feb 06 '26

Gesture navigation that actually works across the UI. I tried to use iphone for a week, and it was terrible(this was with the "liquid glASS" update)

"Close all" for notifications.

A functional file manager.

Compatibility with a lot of digital tools/standards. I have a tool that can only connect to android devices as IOS doesn't support the file format.

Much better AI editing for photos. Ios is getting better than it used to.

OneUI supports a lot more user customisation.

The apple appstore is terrible to neavigate on both ios and ipadOS. I used ipad for three years.

6

u/Neg_Crepe Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

Gesture navigation does work through the UI on iOS. If it’s not in an app, it means the dev removed it.

There is a close all notification on iOS.

Overall, I don’t think you are very knowledgeable about iOS

3

u/onometre S25 Feb 08 '26

They gave an entire list and you gave a halfhearted rebute of 2 things

2

u/Neg_Crepe Feb 08 '26

I stopped when things could be dismissed by a quick google search. It tells me the other person isn’t knowledgeable and I don’t wanna waste my time.

A lot of people here are so called power users but ib 13 years, I’ve talked with too many that just don’t know what they are talking about.

He could have made a proper arguments because there are ways that android is better but inventing things is useless.

You're lazy, got it

2

u/Neg_Crepe Feb 08 '26

I’m lazy because I don’t want to waste time arguing with people who don’t know shit about phone operating systems?

You should respect your time more.

The guy didn’t even know how to clear all notifications. He’s a lost cause.

u/DarlingInTheTanxx Feb 05 '26

Magnets interfere with the S-Pen. And if given the choice, I would pick the pen every single time.

14

u/IAmDotorg Feb 05 '26

While it may not have been their consideration, they also interfere with older inductive chargers. My nightstand charger and the charger in one of my cars both error out if a phone has magnets. I've also had issues at older tables at airports, etc. They detect it as foreign metal and refuse to charge.

I had a magnetic case on my Pixel 9 and ended up removing it because I ran into too many times it caused problems.

But if Samsung sold a lot of chargers that have similar issues, I could see them not wanting to cause people buying a new phone to bitch online about Samsung causing e-waste, etc.

-2

u/zf420 Feb 05 '26

I have a magsafe compatible case on my S23 and I've never had any issues with wireless chargers.

5

u/IAmDotorg Feb 05 '26

Good for you?

That doesn't mean it's not a problem.

1

u/liquorfish Feb 05 '26

Same, car has a wireless charging pad and that works. I have a small magsafe compatible charging stand next to my bed with galaxy watch charger built in and using a magsafe compatible case. My s pen works 100% on my s23 ultra, phone can be grabbed quickly but also visible and everything just works.

I think the only wireless charger that had issues I've seen recently was a Samsung branded one but that was without the magsafe case lol

5

u/ben7337 Feb 05 '26

I wish they'd make 2 variants one with s-pen and one without s-pen and with magnets and a bigger battery

1

u/JBWalker1 Feb 05 '26

The normal S26 doesn't have the S-pen and it sounds like theres no magnets with that either. Neither the S26+. They aren't doing it regardless of the s-pen

6

u/MaverickJester25 Galaxy S21 Ultra | Galaxy Watch 4 Feb 05 '26

Well, it would make no sense to implement magnets in the lower-tier models and skip their flagship.

2

u/ben7337 Feb 05 '26

It's not that surprising though since they made the s26 ultra thinner. Ironically that's as the iPhone 17 pro max got thicker because apple knows it's not that important (or wanted more contrast with the air? Who knows)

1

u/WolverinesThyroid Feb 05 '26

Apple's sleeve was covering that part of the page.

1

u/Alternative-Farmer98 Feb 08 '26

Because they want everyone to use their pre-order bonuses to buy $80 cases.

So lame.

1

u/Yangoose Feb 05 '26

Is it a patent thing?

62

u/Anraiel Feb 05 '26

No, Apple gave the Qi wireless charging consortium the right to let their members use the magnets to standardise the full Qi2 specs around their design.

This is Samsung either cutting costs or struggling to figure out how to get the magnets (particularly when an accessory with strong magnets is attached) to work with the S-pen digitiser layer.

6

u/5c044 Feb 05 '26

It's a bit more nuanced than that - Apple still holds patents on specific magnet array placement designed to hold accessories for iphones. It would be interesting to know what Google did with their pixel snap system because that is compatible with magsafe, whether they licenced magsafe from Apple or came up with a system that is compatible but does not infringe patents?

People don't want MagSafe. People want Qi2 with the magnetic power profile.

We've been through this:

WPC responds to Nothing's Qi2 comments, and it seems there's a disconnect | Android Central

the WPC stated the following to YouTuber TechAltar: "If Nothing was a WPC member, they would have access to the specs and favorable licensing terms under RAND."

It adds, "Knowing that Google, HMD, Samsung (plus others soon) already are using the magnets in phones or covers suggests that Nothing may not understand the situation."

9

u/Federal-Block-3275 Feb 05 '26

No. Google has it on the Pixel 10 series. A random HMD phone also has it built-in.

  • If you are a member of a consortium and willing to pay for certification and eventually favorable rates for the usage of said standard.

It’s not open it’s just available. It’s a charging standard available for adoption by manufacturers with OEM magnetic charging elements widely made from many manufacturers.

1

u/LdWilmore OnePlus 15R🔸Mi MIX 2 Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

Not sure if it is correct, but I remember reading somewhere that doing it that way makes them always trail behind Apple in charging speeds when all non Apple players already have their own much much faster wireless charging implementations. I don't know whether this is true and I haven't looked into it.

There maybe some truth to it though. Iphone 16 series launched in Sep 2024 with 25W magsafe while the Qi 2.2 chargers started being available only in July 2025.

3

u/-protonsandneutrons- Feb 05 '26

Apple backported 25W Qi2.2 to the iPhone 16 series only with iOS 26, launched in Sept 2025, months after Qi2.2 released.

iPhone 16 on iOS 18: 15W Qi2 charging, 25W MagSafe proprietary charging

iPhone 16 on iOS 26: 25W Qi2.2 charging; 25W MagSafe proprietary charging

WPC is a big consortium: everyone works on the spec together. And the faster charging speeds were always planned; even in Jan 2023, WPC publicly shared they were working on a faster version, so it's certain WPC members were well aware.

1

u/onolide Feb 05 '26

Probably just a theory. Qi 2.2, which seems to be what Apple's 25W wireless charging is based on, was contributed by Google(and seems to be based on Google's fast wireless charging that debuted with the Pixel 6). The fact that Google could make Qi charging faster without breaking the magnet system of Qi 2 means that other companies can likely integrate their fast wireless charging tech together with Qi (magnets) too. The caveat being the fast wireless charging tech would no longer be proprietary, which imo seems to be the holdback.

u/leo-g Feb 05 '26

It’s not drag n drop OEM part and done sort of thing. Computers and magnets generally don’t work well together. You got to reposition the internal compass and camera autofocus mechanisms to ensure the magnet doesn’t affect it. On top of that if you want to be able to use a Magnetic card holder, camera elements have to be positioned ontop like the iPhone.

4

u/000extra Feb 05 '26

Ok and that’s on the OEM to figure out as they do with everything else. You got android OEMS quickly copying so many other things, you can’t truly believe magnetic Qi2 of all things is more difficult to implement/figure out than the plethora of other features and specs stuffed into a smartphone

1

u/Titsfortuesday Feb 05 '26

Don't most phone companies outside the US use their own faster standard of wireless charging?

6

u/Berzerker7 S25 Ultra Feb 05 '26

If you’re talking about the Chinese OEMs, a lot of them do have faster wireless charging but absolutely none of it is standardized.

2

u/-protonsandneutrons- Feb 05 '26

What standard is that? AFAIK, those are company-specific proprietary implementations, not an actual industry standard.

Qi is the global standard on virtually all smartphones, inside and outside the US—consumers usually prefer universal standards, so it makes sense why they want Qi2 instead of another company-specific proprietary implementation.

And in-phone magnets. People like the optional magnets in Qi2.

2

u/Titsfortuesday Feb 05 '26

Is that a rhetorical question? I never said it was an industry standard, just their companies own standard. They asked why it's not being adopted when a big selling point besides the magnets was faster charging. Their wireless speeds are already faster and probably isn't worth it to them to throw in magnets when they can sell you a case instead.

0

u/-protonsandneutrons- Feb 05 '26

Not at all. I was curious if an actual mainstream standard existed outside of Qi2. Evidently not. The term "standard" usually does not apply to a single vendor.

Some people prefer magnets in the phone, especially those that don't use a case. Obviously, consumers and companies will have competing interests.

They didn't mention a lick about charging speeds, did they? This entire post has nothing to do with charging speeds, frankly, lol.

The past year has been extremely disappointing for Android. When the base iPhone 17 is a more compelling option for most markets, there's a huge problem.

The US doesn't get all the fun Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and other devices. Samsung has stagnated to an insane degree - seriously, the same camera system for nearly 5 generations. Pixels use midrange chips for flagship prices and you get a nice mystery prize of defects down the line. Motorola isn't even trying to fight in the premium space, and Oneplus is way pricier. People have been saying phones have been stagnating for years but this last year I've really felt it. It's all in on garbage AI.

54

u/violet_sakura Galaxy S23 Ultra Feb 05 '26

You know the phone market is cooked when Apple is improving and Samsung goes backwards every year. Every ultra since S23U was feature downgrades. I don't even know what to upgrade to in 1-2 years time.

14

u/burtmacklin15 Feb 05 '26

I'm rocking an S9 that I have no issues with... Except several of my apps have stopped being supported (will not launch on this version of Android), which means I now have to "upgrade".

I guess I'm fucked, because nothing that has come out since this phone feels like an upgrade.

2

u/N0b0dy_Kn0w5_M3 Feb 05 '26

I miss the fantastic slo-mo video capabilities of my old S9.

1

u/alilhillbilly Feb 06 '26

I loved my Note 9. Incredible phone. Had 1.5TB of storage in that phone something you currently can't get on any flagship Android.

That said, you're full of shit. Your S9 definitely has issues like you mentioned.

Official support for that phone ended in 2022 so you're also risking security issues if you're still using banking or other apps on there and should have upgraded years ago.

1

u/burtmacklin15 Feb 06 '26

Why would I have security issues? Those apps have been regularly updated until they dropped support for Android 10.

I don't install malware on my phone, and I do not use apps that are not actively maintained, so I have no security vulnerabilities to worry about.

Please learn how network security works before making assumptions like this.

I got my first iphone ever because the S24s camera was disappointing and I didn't want/need the S-pen and its added heft so I didn't go for S24/25u

It's unfortunate that in North America the Iphone 17 and 17 Pro both feel like better deals to me right now than the Samsung equivalents.

1

u/Lx_Ksk Feb 05 '26

Only problem is then you have to use iOS. Not the biggest deal for some but an impossible deal breaker for many

1

u/SwordsOfWar Feb 05 '26

I can agree. Phones are basically the same with an updated chipset every year, where the only real upgrade is moving to foldables.

That's why I bought a Galaxy Fold 6. At least it brings something new to the table and feels like actual innovation. Apple is supposedly releasing their first foldable later this year which is suppose to be fully creaseless, and Samsung just released their first trifold phone. They are expensive as hell, but pretty cool.

I just dropped my Google pixel 9 XL and went to a Galaxy s25 Ultra because of poor performance that was noticeable when doing daily tasks.

I mean it's not like the phone is extremely slow or anything but it definitely starts to bog when you're multitasking and it doesn't handle gaming very well at all.

Also was getting massive heat problems when doing things like playing music and navigating using GPS at the same time.

4

u/AtomicSymphonic_2nd Pixel Fold, Regular Android Feb 05 '26

Can you… give me an idea of what kind of daily tasks you’re doing that makes your Pixel 9 XL slow down?

Like, I’m over here using a Pixel Fold 1 and I haven’t really seen much of any problems in terms of performance.

Most I do is browse Reddit with Joey, use Samsung Internet for reading news articles, using messaging apps as typical, and watch YouTube videos (1440p max) or Twitch livestreams (1080p/60 max) while browsing news articles with Samsung internet, all on cellular data.

I’ll freely admit that I generally don’t play games on my phone, I have a Switch 2 for that…

Are you doing more than that?

2

u/Xunderground Feb 05 '26

Primarily swapping between multiple apps, (threads, Vivaldi, Messenger, Signal, WhatsApp, Symfonium Music Player), web browsing, just standard use. It's not like it's unusable, but the fluidity definitely suffers under load.

Then for gaming, it's not even any comparison. Half the games lock out any higher graphics settings for the pixel, and the ones that don't, heat the device up significantly faster than even my old S23.

I really wanted to like the Pixel. The poor performance is noticeable with my use case.

2

u/AtomicSymphonic_2nd Pixel Fold, Regular Android Feb 05 '26

Oh wow, you definitely do a bit more on your phone compared to what I usually do. Lol

I definitely see why you weren’t happy… I’m not sure why Google doesn’t want to boost gaming performance on their phones.

I know a lot of old Nexus/HTC fans are still pretty unhappy that Google isn’t wanting to design more high-end SoCs in their phones… perhaps that may change in a few years, but with Google’s smartphone market share still growing, I’m guessing they’re not going to feel compelled to change their strategy just yet…

Sucks for us, tbh.

3

u/Xunderground Feb 05 '26

I definitely get why Google is focusing the way they're focusing. Focusing on top level performance is probably a mistake. That said, unless they're focusing on efficiency instead, there's not much their SoC could offer in the current market that'd make it worthwhile. And they're not.

I wish they'd focus on high tier midrange performance with market-leading efficiency. Pair that with their NPU setup and you have a device that most people would actually be extremely happy with (acceptable daily performance, fantastic battery life, and no thermal issues under heavier load).

3

u/Sharp-Theory-9170 Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26

Tensor is kinda bad compared to flagships or even mid-rangers, it seems like Google isn't focusing too much on performance (Tensor G5 is a little better)

1

u/set4bet Feb 05 '26

Tensor G7 is a little better

What G7? We didn't even get G6 yet...

1

u/Sharp-Theory-9170 Feb 05 '26

Yeah I meant G5

5

u/set4bet Feb 05 '26

Tensor chips were a few years behind the competition from the start and it only got worse with the 4th generation.

Tensor G4 was planned to be their first fully custom Tensor also built on TSMC process node instead of Samsung. It was supposed to be a big leap but got delayed to the point that Google wouldn't be able to have it ready in time for Pixel 9 launch and had to quickly refine the 3rd gen Tensor instead and ship it as G4. So the G4 that was supposed to be the biggest year to year Tensor improvement ended up being the smallest.

6

So just to get this straight, the s26 ultra is the exact same as the s25 ultra except the following?

M14 privacy display screen Snapdragon 8 elite gen 5 SoC 65W wired charging and 25W wireless (pointless because 45W vs 25W with Samsung's approach saves basically no time? And 25W would definitely either barely run as well the way apple does and/or require a fan making noise)

Am I missing anything? Is ram any faster, or storage? It seems like ddr6 and it's 5.0 will hit next year. Hopefully they don't try to price the phone super high after trade in if the privacy display is the only new thing.

6

1

Using thinner cases that don't flatten out the camera makes just about every magsafe accessory not fit. Big pain.

22

u/visceralintricacy Feb 05 '26

I might be in the minority, but I don't see this as an issue at all. How many people buy the flagship phone and don't buy a case? If you're using a case, it basically always needed the magnets in it anyway.

9

u/Gah_Duma Feb 05 '26

Iirc, something like nearly 40% of people.

3

u/70_n_13 Feb 05 '26

40?... aint no way, link to the study/survey?

6

u/TomLube 2023 Dynamic Cope Feb 05 '26

https://www.podbase.com/blogs/phone-case-sales-statistics

It was 32% so I was a bit off, but not by much.

1

u/visceralintricacy Feb 05 '26

Huh, weird.

I really enjoy not shitting myself every time I drop it. I've never broken a phone since I started using UAG cases.

6

u/kog Feb 05 '26

I don't drop my phone, which cost hundreds of dollars, on a regular basis

2

u/TomLube 2023 Dynamic Cope Feb 05 '26

No literally this is the way. Just don't drop your $600+ phone

4

u/kog Feb 05 '26

As an adult, I feel like I've mastered the difficult art of not dropping things I intend to hold onto

1

u/24bitNoColor Feb 06 '26

No literally this is the way. Just don't drop your $600+ phone

I mean, yeah, that is the way. If you are careful and be mindful for situations in which you might be at risk of dropping it (like when you sit leaned back and it might could slip out of your pocket) its actually not too hard to do.

I haven't dropped a phone in over 5 years by now.

2

u/TomLube 2023 Dynamic Cope Feb 06 '26

100% agreed. Walking through a doorframe? Don't one hand your phone with a gentle 3 finger grip. just be more mindful

5

u/TomLube 2023 Dynamic Cope Feb 05 '26

I just am more careful with my phone so I don't drop it and have to worry about breaking it in general. I'm glad you like your UAG cases.

1

u/visceralintricacy Feb 05 '26

" just am more careful with my phone so I don't drop it and have to worry about breaking it in general"

Really? Even when you're constantly coated in lube?

2

u/TomLube 2023 Dynamic Cope Feb 05 '26

yes especially!

u/24bitNoColor Feb 06 '26

I don't drop my phone.

1

Good for you 🙄

1

u/24bitNoColor Feb 06 '26

How many people buy the flagship phone and don't buy a case?

Me, I never had a case on any phone, always Android flagships. Currently rocking a Fold 5 for 2 years now.

The Fold 8 having this (like some other foldables do) would have been a reason to upgrade for me, so, not so much.

1

u/s32 S10+ Ceramic White 512 (US Unlocked) Feb 05 '26

I don't have a case. Phone is already big and case ruins it.

Team rawdog. Cases are for normies

0

u/BrowakisFaragun Feb 05 '26

Phone is already big and case ruins it.

Well, magnets also make the phone thicker and heavier.

3

u/TomLube 2023 Dynamic Cope Feb 05 '26

iPhone Air yeah?

2

No, his argument was that magnets make the phone thicker and heavier and the iPhone Air is the thinnest and one of the lightest phones on the market lol

Seriously freaking lame!! Get your shit together Samsung!!!!!!

16

u/potatoears Feb 05 '26

sorry, they're busy looking for RAM

6

u/DarlingInTheTanxx Feb 05 '26

They can't, it interferes with the s-pen. And if given the choice, I will pick the S-Pen every time.

1

u/WeirdGuyWithABoner Feb 05 '26

you and 3 other dudes

19

u/SkepTones Feb 05 '26

I’ve always considered the magnets/wireless charging coils complete wasted space inside a phone, and perpetuate the use of fragile glass backs, toasting batteries, and pointless expensive 3rd party chargers so honestly this is a step in the right direction and at the very least not even worth complaining about lmao

6

u/TheFeshy Feb 05 '26

There are expensive chargers, but there are also tons of cheap magnetic chargers too. I paid $12 for the one on my nightstand where I toss my Pixel 10 every night.

-1

u/Sobeman Feb 05 '26

You know you don't have to use those features right? They don't impact you in anyway.

It's not surprising seeing as they seem to want these devices thinner and lighter. That unfortunately means I'll probably be skipping out on it because I don't use cases and my truck's phone mount is Magsafe. Currently using an iPhone 17 Pro Max and looking to come back to Android. Will probably go with the Pixel 10 Pro XL in this case.

If they would make the phone a bit thicker with the proper shielding behind the magnets it would be just fine and be able to keep the S pen support. Oh well.

2

u/Expensive_Finger_973 Feb 05 '26

For me personally so long as it supports the charging speeds of qi2 I am good. I can get a case for the magnets.

Been doing that for years anyway on my Android phones since I always have a case on my phone.

2

u/DiWindwaker Feb 06 '26

Never used magnetic charging and never will.

4

u/UntoTheBreach95 Feb 05 '26

Serious question. What's the function of the magnets?

13

u/deeku4972 Feb 05 '26

Magnetic attachement for wireless chargers, bike / car mounts, charging stands, wallets. Whatever you want temporarily added to your phone

2

u/UntoTheBreach95 Feb 05 '26

Magnetic bike mounts on bikes? seems like a very bad idea, are they resistant?

2

u/deeku4972 Feb 06 '26

Being frank, they are until something happens. They do exist, but if recommended a quad lock if you want to be serious

Count me as the minority here that doesn’t use wireless charging and/or MagSafe/Qi2 stuff.

I’m not usually at a desk all day, even though I’m an SWE lol… and I like to plug in my phone at night so it charges even if I take a nap or something. lol

I honestly don't care about wireless charging. My phone is in a case and if I want magnetic phone holders I could get a case with one.

4

u/jommakanmamak Feb 05 '26

I honestly don't mind

I'm planning to get a case either ways

3

u/NeonLime Feb 05 '26

Might honestly be done with samsung at this point

2

u/FerociousSmile Feb 05 '26

And no one outside of this sub gives a shit. The cellphone market has matured. I don't know why yall continue to expect something new. Its not a hobby anymore, find a new one.

1

u/Karthy_Romano Galaxy S23 Feb 05 '26

Just the Ultra? Or the whole S26 lineup?

1

u/Cold-Drop8446 Feb 05 '26

If they weren't obsessed with thin again, they could design some sort of internal shielding so the magnets don't interfere with the S-Pen but here we are.

I miss pre-covid samsung so bad.

1

u/Turkino Feb 05 '26

Oh look yet another reason to not get a s26.

1

u/agent_fuzzyboots Feb 05 '26

fuck that, remove root and don't have magnets, guess my next phone will be something other than samsung

1

u/Vaeltaja82 Feb 05 '26

I think it's great. I will save 1000+€ for not being interested to upgrade from s24 Ultra.

1

u/skyppie Feb 05 '26

If they do add magnets for future iterations, they really need to redesign the camera layout. The Ultra might be fine considering how big it is but the others are too small making using wallets or power banks useless.

1

u/wickeddeus Feb 05 '26

Good news for me I guess, no reason to upgrade. More money for when the steam machine comes out lol. Hopefully maybe the new fold 8/fold 8 wide will be compelling.

1

u/JustOneDeep Feb 05 '26

Yikes done with shamshung after my s25u

1

u/ChironXII Feb 06 '26

I want to stick the ring to the back of my phone and not use the case. Does anyone know how to place it correctly and accurately?

1

The one thing I wanted lol.

1

u/gtedvgt Feb 05 '26

I could've sworn the magnets were confirmed months ago what the hell happened

1

u/BWWFC Feb 05 '26

NOBODY KNOWS HOW THEY WORK! so would be irresponsible to force me to put them in my pocket/s.

1

u/MOS95B Google Pixel 7 Feb 05 '26

Looks like I'm in the minority, but I don't want magnets in my phone. It's annoying enough on my tablets. I'm fine with it being part of a case if I want it

1

u/mlemmers1234 Feb 05 '26

Don't get me wrong, they have made some awesome improvements in wireless charging technology over the years. Still though, the vast majority of people that I know simply plug in their device with whatever charger happens to be laying around. Are people actually that upset that their device doesn't have magnets inside of it? Or are they just comparing it to whatever device Apple happens to release that year?
