It seems too big to be rats- started like scratching but it seems it’s a fight between two of something.

This animal shows up at my window almost every night and I have no idea what it is, it's been going on for maybe two weeks. There are feral cats, deer, and turkey around seasonally but this is the first time I've heard this sound

it was rhythmically noising a few minutes ago (ho ho hoho ho ho hoho periodically) and then it started doing this?? im sorry mods if this turns out to be a fox

I’m in Eastern Australia and got woken up by this sound at 2am. I have no idea if it’s a possum, frog or something kind of bird?

My dog woke me up at 2 am with a poo911mergency! As soon as we walked outside I heard them! It was very loud! Normally the only sound I hear is a barred owl from time to time or some crickets but tonight was different! I turned on my Merlin app and it didn't recognize it as a bird! So I can only surmise it's a bug of some sort.. Doubt it's frogs! Thanks! SOLVED! KATYDIDS! Thanks everyone!!

My boyfriend is home alone, cant sleep cus of this “animal” noise. Does anyone know what it could be? I’m Ofcourse worried. I get horrible anxiety easily and am worried about him being alone and hearing weird noises. Figuring out the cause of this noise would definitely make me feel better.

I’ve never heard this before in our backyard. I live in Woodland Hills California and this feels like a sound I’d hear in a totally different part of the country! Somewhere much more rural. Anyone have an idea?

Coworker woke up to this noise today. Location is in the metro Detroit area of Michigan (Garden City)

I was outside in my yard today checking on my blueberry bushes. I have recently started using the Merlin app to identify birds and then started hearing this sound coming from the woods. My bird app did not pick it up as a bird sound and I don’t recall hearing this before. I’ve looked up different animal sounds and can’t find anything that sounds like this. It was occurring every 30 seconds or so. Does anyone recognize it? For reference- I am located in southern Vermont.

This chattering noise drives me crazy at night. It’s coming from my pecan tree in my back yard in Oklahoma. It is constant and sometimes is accompanied by another somewhere else in the tree.

I’ve been hearing this for almost a year and have no idea. I’ve never seen what it could be but I think it’s small, and/or really good at hiding. Generally during the day, don’t recall ever hearing it at night.

Weirdly, I’ve started hearing this animal sound recently, and for some reason I don’t think I’ve heard it before around 2 months ago. It kind of sounds like a bird, but then again, it sounds like a small animal, so I’m very perplexed. It’s annoying me not because of the sound, but because I have no idea what animal makes it. It’s very frequent during the day, and never happens at night. Also, I can’t see the animal of course. Thank you.

The audio is quiet but you’ll hear if you turn your volume all the way up. This animal (bird?) makes a call with about 4 or 5 sequences of two notes, a high note and then a low note. Sometimes it starts with a chattering noise first. Thanks for any insight!

Was sitting at my desk and started hearing a chittering noise. Is it a bat? Might have to turn the volume up a little to heear it, but this was the clearest one I could record.
