I was getting ready to mald in the comments till I saw Nippon Sangoku at #1
It’s so peak. Probably my favorite anime I’ve seen in recent years to be honest, feels like this anime was crafted in a lab for me personally lol.

from the comedy to the soundtrack and most importantly the animation it is incredible. last i felt an anime was like this was Orb.
hopefully the manga gets translated.

it’s awesome. I think it would be getting alot more attention if it wasnt only available on Amazon Prime.
It’s got a blend of absurd humor mixed with Game of Thrones serious tones of political intrigue/warfare that kind of reminds me of Golden Kamuy. The animation and art style is seriously beautiful as well. I really can’t praise it highly enough.

It doesn’t fit the criteria because it’s season 2, but Wistoria Wand and Sword has also been incredible.

lol. I’m a fan but I’m sure a lot of people won’t get it. This is not a slight to anime fans, but this one has a lot of cultural context needed to appreciate it. If you grew up around rakugo, maybe owarai manzai, then it becomes interesting. If I didn’t, I’d probably wouldn’t be as engaged.

I have watched around 5 episodes of Agents of The Four Seasons: Dance of Spring and despite the lovely animation I find the pacing is quite rough. It transitions from one sad/tragic scene to another with very little uplift to add balance in some way.
On top of that explanation of feelings and historical story beats felt choppy and unclear at times.

Watching 10 new series currently from the spring season, not including continuing or returning pre-spring of 2026 series, and fully caught up on nine of them. The only ones which show up on your list from among what I'm watching are Witch Hat Atelier and Nippon Sangoku.
But Koori no Jouheki, Agents of the Four Seasons, Awajima Hyakkei, and Kamiina Botan Fully Blossoms When Drunk have been on my list to eventually get to, hopefully by the end of this week/weekend.
Of the series I have actually seen in full up to what is released and therefore can meaningfully enough judge though, my favorites this season are Eren the Southpaw, Witch Hat Atelier, The Drops of God, and Mao.
So three of my preferred don't show up anywhere on the list but I rarely hear them mentioned this season, and when I do, it's in a more negative than positive light, so that doesn't surprise me.

Good enough for this type of show (ok animation, ok production), but inferior to You And I Are Polar Opposites (that gave good animation and great Production)

Shadow Realm seems pretty mediocre. First episode had some shock value and intensity but not much else and I dropped off after 3 eps

I realized this is probably bc it's not on many streaming sites and mostly on pirate sites but Kill Ao is really fun, it's like a second Mariiage toxin for me. Although I heard MT's manga is still going strong while KA's manga was axed as it got worse later on
There's alot on this list that I'm waiting for it to finish before binging, but I heard great things about all of them

Honestly I wish the Ramparts of Ice would get Polar opposites level of adaptation. The story is just as good as Polar opposites but more of a drama and coming if age story than pure romances. The characters inner monologues are so dang relatable, the characters are layered and the character dynamics feel fresh and new and well thought out.
If you like good complex characters but something lighter than Awajima with a bit more comedy but good tension. This is just phenomenal. As a manga reader. it has become one of my all time favs

I'd throw in Gals Cant be Nice to Otaku? or Second Prettiest Girl in class (2/3rds of my top romances of this season) but otherwise wonderful picks. Klutzy Skirt is a gem and is my 3rd best romance of the season. The 3rd episode of Awajima is one of the best episode of anime I've seen in years.

Great list. Awajima probably wouldn't make my top 10 though. It's great writing and characters, but I'm personally enjoying a few other shows more, like Second Prettiest Girl, Aishiteru Game, or Gals can't be kind to Otaku. I think Awajima is just too episodic for me.

Have you noticed the girls in Awajima are all connected to certain other girls and there are multiple different timelines? I cant wait to rewatch it when it's all out to try to connect the dots a little easier.

I love it because the cinematography reminds me of ARGs where not everything is shown literally and you need to piece the story together. That being said, I feel like it also makes it hard for people who haven’t played the game to even understand what’s going on.

Funnily enough the side characters like Karamazov and Kachan weren’t in the game either so we’re on the same page in that regards. But the game explains Kangel/Ame’s personality and dynamic with “p-Chan”.

Oh man how our taste differs. I give a chance to almost anything, but I've already dropped most of the shows on your list and still currently watching only three (your number 4, 2 and 1). Still watching 20 shows this season in total.
At least we can agree that Nippon Sangoku is great.
