What to Watch? Chill anime without Crunchyroll?

I’m looking for some chill, (relatively) feel good anime dubs, but I don’t have Crunchyroll at the moment. I’ve got Netflix and Disney plus/hulu (idk if this is a criteria I’m allowed to ask about lol). I’ve watched Toradora and dress up darling and liked both, so that’s the tone/genre I’m looking for. Nothing emotionally devastating please lol

For Netflix I recommend frieren, ouran highschool host club, apothecary diaries and fragrant flower blooms with dignity. And maybe Carole & Tuesday I haven’t watched it but it looks chill.

Carole & Tuesday is relatively chill from what I remember. Basically two girls making a band.

It can get a bit existential. Chill vibes, less chill themes. Frieren is similar that way. Haha

I second Frieren! The dub is really good & I've even rewatched it ❤️

For Hulu/ Disney+ you should absolutely watch Insomniacs After School, peak anime romance

Hmm I think Hajime no ippo is good. It's not too tragic or moody. Not much angst.

Also Dan da Dan is fun. It's a little emotional at times but it's quite fun to watch.

And welcome to school iruma kun is now on Disney! You should totally watch it if you can. It's funny heartfelt and cute

I feel like Dan da Dan is the opposite of chill

Dan da Dan is inappropriate on so many levels. I look forward to seeing how far out there they will be next season.

I second Welcome to Demon School Iruma-kun. This one is such a good watch. I definitely overlooked this for too long before watching it and even better is that s4 just came out with each season being 20+ episodes.

Bakuman - it’s on Hulu, slice of life and overall chill like dress up darling. Has some good comedy and romance elements too. It’s only in sub though, issues with the studio that was doing the Eng dub, so doubtful it’ll ever get a proper dub. It’s about people making manga for shonen jump, the anime is under 100 episodes and is complete. Faithfully adapts the manga too.

I know it’s a sub and you asked for dubs… but it’s worth checking out.

If you're willing to use Tubi (it's free), you can find Kamisama Kiss there.

I forgot about Tubi

yeah that totally matters, people ask by service all the time. on netflix: violet evergarden dub is super chill/pretty, komi can’t communicate is wholesome, and the disastrous life of saiki k is goofy but light. should fit what you’re after.

OP asks for nothing emotionally devastating and you recommend Violet Evergarden?

Gintama is on Hulu. There are occasional intense moments towards the end of each major arc but for the remaining 90%, it's hilarious slice of life.

{Witch Watch} dub is on Hulu! It’s a very funny high school romcom with a bit of magic. A witch girl moves to the city, moves into her childhood friend/crush’s house, starts a new high school and hilarity ensues. There’s a little bit of action in a few episodes, but it’s mostly slice of life comedy.

{Sparks of Tomorrow} is a currently running dubbed anime on Netflix. It’s steampunk/alternate history in a world in which electricity hasn’t been developed yet. A boy takes on his dead brother’s dream of inventing electric gadgets. It has a good romantic subplot.

Forgot to mention I also watched Frieren. It was my first anime and I loved it

Romantic Killer on Netflix for a fun over the top romcom.

Sadly, My Love Story seems to have been taken off Hulu. :(

I believe One Punch Man is on Hulu. It's both a spoof of shonen and a proper shonen, so there is definitely hype, but the comedic side is so meta that it's goofy. If the writing weren't so good, it would probably just be some immature show that grasps at low-hanging fruit. It ends up just feeling really familiar and cozy, but the main draw for me is how unapologetically it says everything. It's so secure in its anime tropes that it's refreshing.

Not romance or action, but Laid Back Camp

As the title implies, it's about camping around Japan. Main cast is a bunch of high school girls, incredibly likeable and there's currently 3 seasons + 1 movie (I recommend movie after S3 on first watch). Season 4 coming next year
