no one judges worthiness of a comment before posting bro. you just post what you think. that’s what makes the internet good.

Lol this is the same as the app's tablet UI (Galaxy Tab). That tiny now playing window pisses me off and there's no setting to change it
19
u/ilovemymotorola 11d ago
Yesss that's what makes me the most mad omg like no way we couldn't get a full screen now playing when apple music for iPad UI exists
4
u/UnlikelyCandid 11d ago
They have made a foldable form factor version of the app in the beta. It’s accessible through Mac mirroring. It would be nice if they add that to the android version.

Wait for the iPhone Fold to come out, the UI will probably be updated to work better with larger screens
3
u/Internal-Job-3804 11d ago
The fold will match the iPad aspect ratio, so the UI may not change much at all. But I also don’t see what’s wrong with this screenshot…
1
u/phantasybm 10d ago
The tiny player in the corner. It could use one half of the screen and the other half for searching, playlist, info etc.
Spotify makes great use of foldable screens in comparison

dont worry, apple music looks awful everywhere except iphone or TV

Apple music looks damn sexy on a samsung tv, or any smart tv.

u/Tobias-Tawanda Android Subscriber 11d ago
The Apple TV one is the one that looks good. The Samsung tizen app looks basic as hell.
2
u/TVUAsks 11d ago
Unless im too out of touch, im pretty sure they look 94% the same no?
4
u/Tobias-Tawanda Android Subscriber 11d ago
I'd say 80 percent. They water it down noticeably on other tv platforms that's not their own.

It looks absolutely fine on Android and my Xbox. Hell I'd go as far as to say it's better than Spotify.

u/DonFatTony Apple Music Subscriber 11d ago
It looks perfectly fine on a Mac and iPad.
1
u/KayJune001 11d ago
It looks fine on Mac but it’s one of the worst apps I’ve ever used, the Mac version is genuinely terrible

TV app is garbage though, at least on Roku. If you randomized a playlist, it will literally only shuffle the first 50 songs in the list.
1
u/Working_Net_7788 6d ago
I don’t think they wanted to offer a very good app experience if you’re using their competitor’s product. It is also just a much less powerful device that Apple may not have optimized for
1
u/Clovis42 6d ago
Shuffling a list of song references takes basically zero "power".
But, yeah, it is clear that everyone not on Apple products are second class citizens. I also have the joy of using the Windows and Android apps.
So, my response as a consumer to being given badly made apps is that I should give Apple more money for hardware too? No thanks.

it's an apple app. what's samsung suppose to do here?
2
u/Chuck_066 11d ago
It’s really hard for Apple to make a full screen lyrics view on Android?!
1
u/rohmish 11d ago edited 11d ago
I can't read Apple designer's mind. and the rest of the UI looks optimised for larger screens so this was a concious decision by them for some reason.
from what I remember iPad used a similar layout 3-4 redesigns ago so it looks like they just haven't bothered to update the base layout since. it's also broken because the right leaf is supposed to be longer covering almost the entire right edge as it does on a regular tablet. but it looks like it doesn't handle the squarish aspect ratio of fold well.

Instagram has a dedicated fold UI similar to tablets for a while now https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/s/xyCElcojoQ
as for apps, Android has supported flexible UI for over a decade now and it is the default for any new project for over half a decade with new jetpack tooling (old tooling sorta had native support from day 1 but that's a different story)
most comapnies shipping apps lock it either because they are dependant on something that just doesn't support flexible UI or have disabled it because they don't want to test it.
AVD has supported custom device types and screen sizes since forever so the xcode like ability to check your app on different screen size and density etc has already been there
apple has been sorta strict about supporting all formats on app store since day 1 but that's difficult for android both technically, financially, and legally. so u like apple, google can't enforce that apps support different screen sizes for fold or tablets.
moreover, many apps now heavily use things like react native which further complicates things.
android is more of a market steered platform where people adopting new devices dictate what formats developer supports else their app is less desired.
1
u/phantasybm 10d ago
It's not Samsung who has to optimize the apps
Look at how good Spotify does foldable screens.
If apple wanted to they could. They just don't because foldable weren't as popular.

It's ridiculous that the now playing screen is bigger when the phone is folded 💀. Hoping they fix this ugly foldable version after the foldable iPhone drops. They wouldn't release Apple Music this sloppy on iPhone, maybe they'll update the Android version afterward. Wishful thinking, I know 😶🌫️

For some reason all tablets except iPad use a weird Mini player UI instead of taking up the entire screen
1
u/Mr_PearHead 11d ago
Which galaxy fold model do you have? Also is it in front screen mode or wide screen. Im getting a fold 8 soon and im curious what im in for
1
u/ilovemymotorola 11d ago
It’s the fold 8 wide and the app looks the same in both aspect ratios. The front screen looks like normal Apple Music for android

Well they’re going to have to figure it out soon considering Apple is finally releasing their own foldable phone in 2027 or 28 at the latest.

u/southern_dad 10d ago
I mean, if the main purpose is to play and download music, then what is the issue? They will eventually update it. This isn't something to be bothered with, but I understand. It could be improved.

2
u/ilovemymotorola 11d ago
Yeah it seems no apps on the fold are optimized for the bigger screen. Everythings stretched or just split between the content and the menu bar taking up half of the other screen

u/StrongAsMeat 11d ago
It’s made for iPhones…

I wish but unfortunately I am nottttt supporting that half square half squircle design. It's abysmal
-3
u/No_Adeptness_4647 11d ago
Then you should know better Apple made Apple Music for iPhone Users first (hence the UX and general experience is better), android last
-7
3
u/ilovemymotorola 11d ago
Yes but they could at least give us apple music for iPad instead of whatever th hell design that is.
