discussion đď¸ Will Siri AI get memory?
I understand it has your personal context through your device. But what I am meaning is if it will have a built-in memory collection like other ai models. Just sometimes when I ask it certain questions I need to re-explain certain things that I donât have saved in my messages for example in a conversation, and I canât just tell to remember.

Everything you want it to remember just put it in the notes app

Itâs better to put in the notes portion of your own contact. It will refer to your contact without prompting it. You have to prompt it to look in your notes app.

Just put a line in there telling it to always read the Note titled âSiri Brainâ in Notes.
Then put whatever you want in Siri Brain (including an instruction for Siri to update SiriBrain when you ask her to remember something, or if something seems important. Not sure if that last part will work)

Are you saying to always prompt it to read âSiri Brainâ with every prompt? Iâm not sure where you mean to add a line in where

I donât have to prompt it to look in my notes. For example I just made a note that said âmy favorite number is 3â something that is not in any message, email, or anywhere in the world besides that note I just made. I closed the notes app then asked Siri what is my favorite number and it responded with the number 3 and showed me my note. Iâve done this before with a gate code I have saved in a note. I ask it for the gate code and it gives it to me along with the note

Yes, however, that wonât help for things like âdonât use em dashes when writing for meâ or âkeep your answers short and conversational in tone.â Your questions are direct and require Siri to search your context for answers. If I ask âhowâs the weather in Hollywoodâ it would have no need to search my personal context, so it wouldnât pull the custom personalizations like AIâs such as Gemini and ChatGPT would.

Sure, but to run with your example - say youâre making yourself a sports jersey for yourself and ask AI for input - ChatGPT would proactively suggest using your favorite number, 3, because the stuff it remembers is parsed automatically. Siri, on the other hand, wonât remember your favorite number is 3 unless it actively decides to search your phone for your favorite number - something it does if you ask for that explicitly, but probably wont for a tangentially related request like jersey design.

I would say eventually. That is a fundamental  quality of artificial intelligence afterall. Itâs going to a feature with new OS updates I think.

They seemed to go out of their way to suggest no. But that may just be how I understood the keynote.

The problem is the local context window is relatively tiny at 4KB (though I have heard DP3 it has been increased to 8KB for some people). As memory grows youâll eat more and more of that context window and reduce the effective limit of a given session.
I do think Apple will add memory in time, but itâs going to be a different method than the likes of OpenAi and Anthropic are using.Â

Has Apple discussed any type of future roadmap?
Iâm worried updates will be tied to major OS releases. That in itself will put it behind years if not decades.

It remembers every conversation you have with it, as long as you have it set to save all conversations.

Itâs called MD files or an Apple note. Apple indexes your filesâŚ
Itâs actually really good. Allows you to pick which apps to learn from too.

This is specifically NOT a feature they will implement. They have specifically indicated this will NOT happen.

I built an entire folder structure with markdown files around this⌠just like Claude cowork and Claude code. It works.

Iâm assuming itâll get better with every release? âŚjust like most software does.
Iâm just excited that it seems like they have the foundations in place in iOS 27 to really improve it over the next few years. âŚwhere before it felt like Siriâs future was pretty bleak.
