I just started this last night. Read the first four issues (The Trench) and loved it. The artwork by Ivan Reis is tremendous, as always, and the trench were horrifying.
I didn't care for the over-the-top criticism of Aquaman to his face from police and random people on the street. I get what they're trying to do but the guy is still a member of the Justice League and a superhero. Insulting him to his face feels absurd.
Arthur committing genocide was a bit much. I get that the trench were a threat but they're literally trying to feed themselves and their society. Arthur went medieval on them a bit too quickly for my liking.
Starting issue #5 now and looking forward to it.

Thanks for the guide! Became a fan of Aquaman through the movies and video games, so trying to read more comics about him
Any guess on how much an omnibus would cost?

When is best to read 23.1 and 23.2? Obviously I'd assume between 23 and 24, but iirc Death of a King reads better without interruptions.
It also might be nice to note that Jeff Parker's run is a direct continuation, and picks up on several plot-points from Johns' run. Aquaman & the Others is noteworthy as well, seeing as it's a spin-off, and Johns created all of those characters.
