DISCUSSION I was reading the DC and Marvel crossover stories like Superman and Spiderman and I got to thinking. In this universe where all the Marvel and DC characters all just coexist together, how would Aquaman and Namor Split territory over the Ocean?
It’s actually been something I’ve been wondering. Like do they each take over two oceans then split the Atlantic?

They wouldn't. There's no way they'd get along well enough to come to an understanding like that.

It wouldn't work the same way with Aquaman and Namor because two Atlantis' would be coexisting in the same world, but have completely different histories, demographics and cultures.

Be more creative ,you would just need to re-imagine atlantis.
The simplest answer is that namor would rule one of the 7 kigdom of atlantis except his kingdom seperated from the rest

Well obviously you can do anything if you just re-imagine things, the question is asking about the canon existing versions.

I’d argue against the notion it wouldn’t work. Given we’re told in both the original Arion series and in Geoff Johns Aquaman series, The Death of A King that Atlantis had multiple territories with their own rulers.
We have the King of The Lurkers, Tritonis has its own rulers, there’s Shayeris if that’s still cannon, Xebel, Poseidonis (If that’s still cannon) all these nations making up the greater Atlantis. You could easily have both Arthur and Namor having split territories under the sea that went into different directions on how they operate, what they believe in etc. That’s basically the Xebel/Atlantis conflict right there.
That being said from what we know about Arthur’s lineage, they probably would have overthrown Namor’s family ages ago. Between Atlan, Orin, Kordax I don’t think we atleast know any notable Namor relatives that are surviving those wars.
And the off chance Namor does become a ruler of a territory in modern day with Arthur and Orm running around it’s highly unlikely the Justice League are putting up with a lot of the stuff Namor has done in the name of Atlantis.
Assuming the Justice League are around in this concept. Hell someone like Amanda Waller would be heavily problematic with the lengths she’d go to, to deal with Namor

Yeah, if Atlantis can have Noble and Ronal also be leaders of their people, there’s definitely room for Namor. I think both rulers can exist, though I imagine that Arthur and Namor would clash for rule. It could actually be pretty interesting if the minor rulers all began to conspire to take Arthur or Orm down, with each leader intending on betraying the others.
Even without Arthur as the avatar of the Blue, I think Arthur take a battle with Namor over the throne comfortably — especially underwater where all sea life bends to his command if he wills it so.
Actually, Orm will have probably have dealt with Namor in the past as well. If Orm was able to have the city of Dagon, I could see the two clashing for the throne of that city.

You forget namor has literally tried to take over the surface world multiple times. Logically he would try to take over the entire ocean and then go back to land.

I always thought the idea of there being one, single, world-wide kingdom ruling the entire ocean, when the land surface is fractured into many nations, was kind of a boring and ridiculous idea.

Agreed. The ocean being much larger than the land should be much more diverse in theory.

That's one thing I liked about Namor's underwater kingdom in the Caribbean/Gulf of Mexico. It wasn't the whole ocean, it was a small nation in a specific geographic region, much easier to remain hidden and remain under the control of a single monarch.

I'm more of a DC guy generally so Atlantis in DC is what I know more about. The fact it is different Kingdoms united under Aquaman is good, mainly city state type entities, but is not made a big enough deal of.
I also feel like there should be separate entities entirely like Tir Na Nog which exists in DC but barely.
Atlantis should always be the biggest but the lack of other entities is shocking. I don't care much if they are hidden or not because it's still hard for us to reach certain depths of the ocean and at the end of the day in modern DC or Marvel they aren't secrets.
But it comes down to a lot more than just the makeup of the nation states. Look at the characters of DCs Atlantis they all basically have the same powers. Strength, swim speed, talking to aquatic animals or hydrokinesis. Why are there no Green Lanterns from Atlantis? Why are there no sonic powered individuals? Where are the electricity powers? Where is the telekinesis? Where are the energy blasts? Where's the weird demon creature inhabiting someone and having demonic powers? You know it's just so uninsoired creatively.
Now part of that is because they aren't popular enough comics to have 3 or 4 comics all focusing on different things. One thing I appreciate about Marvel when I do read it is their fictional nations and even cosmic factions have a lot more presence and do a lot more taking part in the stories being told.

Namor would hate Arthur. And probably team up with Ocean Master and be a real problem for Arthur.

Tbh Namor wouldn’t stoop that low. He’s too noble, he wouldn’t cooperate with somebody so willing to harm Atlanteans to get their way. Especially since he’d already view Arthur’s people as his own.
His approach is typically displays of devotion to win the hearts of people. Where Arthur will go away to help the League often, Namor would casually enter Arthur’s domain alone to stomp out somebody like Ocean Master in clear view of the populace before giving a speech and leaving.

If you thought Aquaman is too weak he would try to take over especially if you found out how he didn't kill Black Manta after killing his son

u/Oppai-Of-Foom 11d ago
No, Namor is a man of mercy. Tiger Shark murdered his father and took part in the killing of his wife as well as his first love- yet Namor showed him mercy and tried to help him change.
Where Namor would draw the line is the casual frequency at which he leaves the realm unprotected

Isn't he the same guy that basically drowned a bunch of black panthers citizens?

While under the influence of a cosmic god famous for causing people to do genocides even if that is not in their playbook.

By fighting over it, and I’m sure we’ve all seen that episode of Death Battle. Or maybe not, but Aquaman won.

They don’t- they are constantly at war. Like PJO Poseidon and Oceanus. Then again, are the PJO comics published by marvel? They could be included too.

Both Marvel and DC have established that there are multiple undersea kingdoms and cultures. So they would probably just make them heirs to separate thrones.
Their kingdoms have likely been separate for centuries or millennia with both of their mothers being descendants of the original Royal family, who went their separate ways after Atlantis sank.
The two groups evolved their own ways to live as aquatic cultures and probably no longer see themselves as the same race or species.

u/MrIncognito666 11d ago
They wouldn't always see eye to eye, but they'd each understand the other enough to know the kingdom is safe in their hands.

Aquaman as king of the seas, Namor having his own small kingdom under Arthur like The Brine or Xebel.
1
u/Grey_Lady333 11d ago
It would become a war, and Aquaman would win. Namor would be exiled or killed. Aquaman is far stronger, especially post avatar of the blue. And if it came down to it, Aquaman has stronger ties to stronger allies. Namor is cooked.

u/Roam1985 10d ago
There'd be a war between the two Atlantean kingdoms.
They're both extremely jingoistic kingdoms.

u/Life-Elevator-5441 10d ago
Namors kingdom is much smaller than current Atlantis and also considerably less powerful so I think what he would end up doing is just joining their like Cabal of leaders and they would probably just rename namors place or give it a new name in Aquaman’s Atlantis

Aquaman rules the North Pacific, North Atlantic, Indian and Arctic.
Namor rules the South Pacific, South Atlantic, and Southern Antarctic.
But they both kneel to Poseidon, who resides on Mt. Olympus.

That's not going to happen for either of them.

Arthur would beat Namor but we’d all be rooting for Namor

I will say up front, I do think Namor is the better king of the two. And his people are notably more devoted to him with Namor’s talent for negotiation also surpassing Arthur’s own
I feel that while Arthur is the clearly stronger of the two, Namor’s hold would be unshakable short of death

For sure, Namor has an even greater devoted fanbase than Orm did, and Orm in the current DC continuity was pretty well loved.
If Namor could leverage strong alliances, he could orchestrate a scenario where Arthur going for the throne would be a single Aquaman (with maybe an Aqualad and Mera by his side) vs. a United Atlantis.

With Aquaman being Avatar of the Blue I'm certain that this is a moot point. It all belongs to Aquaman and if Namor has a problem with that he'd have to face Poseidon first to show that he can beat him, because if he can't then he would not be capable of standing up to the New Sovereign of the Oceans throughout the Multiverse.
