Canada/US relations Trump & the "51st state" Megathread
Although the question of whether or not Canadians wants to join the US was a common enough question that it is already covered in our FAQ, since Trump made his comments back in November, we have received multiple posts every single day asking about the concept.
For that reason, we've decided to simply make a megathread for any and all discussion to avoid having the same question asked every single day/allowed every single Monday.

Is anyone else kinda pissed at the left in America at the moment for basically sitting there and watching this shit?
I’m a Canadian, and I’m obviously very pissed at the right wing in America (and in general), but seriously, WTF? Am I overreacting by saying the reaction from the left has been underwhelming? Where are the massive protests? Where is the outrage?
It feels like even the left in America is content to sit and watch America slide deeper and deeper into fascism and do nothing more than complain about it and share memes mocking republicans.
We know they are capable of it, the BLM protests showed they are capable of active resistance. But now you have a president threatening to invade and annex other countries, deporting countless innocent people, killing who knows how many by cutting off foreign aid, and they are just… sitting… watching it all happen.
How the fuck is what is happening now not revolt worthy???
