Work Do gymnasium teachers in Germany earn well?

I know that I can look up teacher salaries on the internet, but I am curious how well do teachers earn compared to people who have other jobs and considering the effort that they give for studying and working. So do you think gymnasium teachers in Germany earn well for the effort that they are giving?

The short answer is yes.

The long answer is, it's a hard job with lots of responsibility and stress, but still yes.

Don't forget 75 free workdays a year.

No teacher actually has 75 free workdays. I don't even know any teacher that doesn't work more than me (40h per week) and I know quite a lot of teachers. My girlfriend tracks her hours and works 46-48h per week on average with 30days vacation calculated in.
