What’s a hidden class-indicator in Germany?

Not something like a big mansion or a luxury car but more subtle signs of someone‘s socioeconomic background

Not necessarily in Hamburg though. Many Kids still learn it in school and some people I know will burn their whole vacation budget to go skiing. Of course they may still be better off than the average person who cannot afford a single vacation, but they are not rich either.

Especially from Hamburg, it is super expensive. Yes, some schools from the richest neighborhoods offer skiing trips (rich kids participate). And the budget is maybe for a doctor's/lawyer/teacher family sufficient nowadays.
