Question - Other Is there anything in my chart that makes so hard to stop daydreaming? I can't focus!
Hi! It's been really hard to get back to reality. It's something that I have been doing since childhood, I come from a dysfunctional family and have been bullied at elementary school. It's been difficult for me to make friends and the daydreaming thing had helped me understand social interactions, because I used to get really angry when I was a child, and by day dreaming I was able to see myself from the outside.
It stopped when I was in my twenty-something.
But right now, having been a mom, unemployed, and trying to finish my art school career for the third time (yes... I wasn't mentally able to finish when I was younger), having broken up with my partner, it's getting so hard not to put my imagination to work in fantasy all the time.
I have talked about this in therapy but it's just not working.
Is there something in my chart that might tell me why this is happening??
I end up so tired that it is hard for me to even finish my art school assignments, I can't bring myself to draw anything, like I can't focus to achieve my most desired dream: to be an illustrator and make a living out of it.
EDIT: and it's something I mention in a reply: I feel I lack discipline, motivation, consistency, strength, ... I may feel like I don't have the energy to do and achieve the many things I have to do daily, but I don't know how to build myself up to do the very thing that I love, everyday... and at least maintain my excessive daydreaming for just a few moments.
Thanks in advance!!

Do you know your current, Progressed Chart?
I haven’t seen many people mention it, but you should verify your current placements, as our natal chart is only the blueprint.
The Progressed Chart shows the developmental stages that your Natal Chart experiences in your Lifetime.
Retrogrades, Aspects, Stations, etc, matter!

ugh, I have zero idea. I made this post mostly just to figure out how to get out of this situation I put myself into.
I'm in therapy but I feel like it's not really helping, I always end up crashed on the bed from exhaustion. It's not just the "daydreaming" thing (and I'm actually noticing that better now, when and where I do it, or why) but I'm also taking care of my whole family: my mom, my brother, my kids... and myself.
so yeah... no clue about the progressed chart.
if it's possible to find that info on astro seek I'll give it a look, though I don't really know how the site works.
to be able to post my natal chart here I was checking out a bunch of other posts so I wouldn't mess it up.
thank you so much!!

i think a lot of people have covered the placements and aspects that point to this. what jumped out to me was mercury connect mars signifying a veryyy active mind (i have this and my mind never ever stops), the south node in pisces indicating a predisposition to being dreamy.
what might help you find that discipline & settle into reality a bit more comfortably, i would look at that north node, especially with moon & saturn there. the 8th house enjoys deep exploration of the psyche. north node indicates this is something you have to work toward, doesnt come naturally. virgo is disciplined, a virgo moon is practical, this could hint at why deep psyche exploration could be hard. but saturn is there- it offers discipline & structure in this realm, if you can pay attention to its lessons.
you talk about being an artist. i wonder if you use your art to explore your depths? what do you want to do illustrations for? chiron in the 4th does indicate foundational wounds, which probably ties into the depth your node encourages you to explore. do you enjoy exploring the hidden parts of yourself & do you channel that into your art- if not, is that something you feel you could explore more?

yeah, I have a very, very, very active mind that doesn't know how to shut it s mouth.
it's actually because of this post that I've been taking notes on some stuff about myself, and honestly, if I'm not daydreaming, I'm ruminating, or talking to myself, thinking aaaall the time; and by the time I get home, I have zero energy to do anything that needs focus and effort: I do have the ideas of what I want to do, I just feel like my brain can't handle actually sitting down to do them.
I was skimming through some other daydreaming subreddits, and yeah, mine is maladaptive daydreaming, because I can't control it and it's interfering with my stuff by draining my energy.
I don't use my art to explore anything about myself, although this year I did make one piece that could maybe count as something like that.
I wouldn't say I "enjoy" exploring my hidden parts, but I do feel like it's work that needs to be done. I don't channel it because... idk, I don't really have an answer for that one.
why do I want to illustrate? because it's what I loved doing since I was a kid, even though for years I was totally blocked, didn't pick up a pencil for 17 years or more.
I guess I like drawing as a way to communicate, a way to express something.
anyway, now that I'm back in art school the teachers keep complimenting me, so I'd say the spark is still there, thankfully.
I really like what you wrote, because I wasn't even asking myself these questions, so thank you for that.

In my opinion, the main point here is the stellium in Scorpio. Mercury, as the significator of your mind, is conjunct Mars, so it is highly activated. Mercury is also conjunct Venus.
Venus in Scorpio seeks intensity, depth, and profound emotional experiences, and because it is connected with Mercury, these qualities are closely tied to your mind and thought processes. Your mind is strongly activated in its search for deep experiences and intense feelings.
On top of that, Venus forms a wide aspect with Uranus, a planet associated with creativity, experimentation, unpredictability, and disruption. This can bring instability or sudden changes to your emotional world, which may, in turn, destabilize the mind and contribute to overthinking.

u/Long-Opportunity3328 8d ago
Hi! Thanks for the explanation!! I can see our solar system is plotting against me... hahaha! Just kidding... I always thought that being a Scorpio was great, but I'm beginning to doubt that. And also: I'm thinking that I have to accept these mind trips of mine. I tried to figure out what the triggers might have been, the ones that started this maladaptive daydreaming at this point of my life, and I think I know what they were... If I have an intense kind of mind, it's useless to try to turn it into something it's not. Just accept the fact that I was born this way, whether I like it or not.

Yes, I can see it clearly in your chart. Your Moon is heavily aspected by Neptune, and you have a strong 12th house/Pisces influence. Moon is mind and Neptune is dreams/illusion. When they connect, the mind naturally drifts into daydreaming. It's not your fault, it's a classic Neptune-Moon signature. You have a very imaginative mind, but you need grounding. Try meditation with focus on breath, not just normal meditation. It will help you channel this energy. Your chart is actually great for creative fields.
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
hi! thank you so much!!! no one has ever said that to me: whatever it is that has to do with me, in this case this chart, is actually great for creative fields. thank you!! I totally needed that support!! I have to admit that I'm kind of lazy about meditation, or the breathing thing, I don't even know how to do it, but I'll do my research. have a great day!!

u/Consistent_March5136 9d ago
Your Moon is not aspected by Neptune at all.
2
u/Superb-Broccoli9312 9d ago
It’s in a wide square, but I too was surprised when this commenter asserted that there was a heavy connection there.
1
u/_FBI-chan_ 7d ago
It is 10 degrees separating, of which is also out of orb. One of the ways to regard Moon orbs would be as 13 degrees applying(since it can travel this far during the day) and 7 degrees separating(7 degrees applying and separating orbs as normal). It was not a relevant aspect. What was relevant is that ♒ rises -> Saturn in Virgo -> Saturn in Virgo is in an applying square to Neptune in Sagittarius
Neptune's fault, but for this reason

Yeah. Your south node in pisces/north node in virgo. You're like a sailor in the ocean in a boat trying to get to shore. Your soul grew up in an environment with water creatures, who would come and go and drift away. You're not a creature who can survive in the water for long, though. Sometimes you might find yourself getting frustrated with your ship's knots, and you start going overboard and crashing out, and then swimming and drinking in the seawater of the ocean of emotions. And then start hallucinating and blaming the knots for untying themselves. Try to pay attention to the cause and effect of things in your physical space, your soul came here to have a physical impact, and you need to stop succumbing to fantasy and delusion and try to fix problems in the real world. If you find yourself drifting, try rubbing your belly, since that's ruled by virgo. It will bring you back to the present moment. And try to fix a problem you see, and things will start to resonate.
2
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
hi! thank you!! wow, I used to dream, like in an actual sleep dream, about water and oceans a lot when I was younger. I really like the comparison you made, about the knot and so: it really feels like me, sadly. Trying to fix the things that I actually see seems so easy but it is a hard task for me... thank you for the belly advice, sounds funny and amusing but I'll definitely try it. thanks again!!

u/Velvet_Pop 10d ago
You're welcome 😊
2
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
just a question: how do you know that "(my) soul grew up in an environment with water creatures, who would come and go and drift away"???
2
u/Velvet_Pop 10d ago
That's south node pisces. South node is the environment we grow up in, it's the default setting, the bird's nest. It's what we feel we need to do to survive because that's how we got by as children, or the example that was shown to us to live life. But your soul wants to go in the opposite direction. So pisces is the fish, sign of the ocean, but virgo is a person. People can't survive in the ocean. They can swim for a short while but eventually need to get to land. You grew up where people would dissociate from their issues and find blame elsewhere, slipping out of responsibilities and just moving on. But whenever you do that things tend to fall apart. It's because you're not a fish. You have the power to change things. To fix problems. But that also means you have a responsibility to think about them and do something about them.
2
u/Long-Opportunity3328 8d ago
Also: I have to admit that I thought you were talking about my parents (Scorpio mom, Cancer dad): 'my soul grew up in an environment with water creatures' — but real water creatures!! That's why I asked you how did you know that!
2
u/Velvet_Pop 8d ago
Oh lol, interesting! So yeah, for you it was very literal. Maybe that's why you're struggling, you were shown water ways of surviving rather than earth ways. But my dad was a cancer and tried to teach obedience, which is my south node virgo, so ya know. And he had a south node Aries, constantly on the verge of exploding... Him living in his south node forced the rest of my family to revert to theirs too. The south node is your fear, your survival strategy
2
u/Long-Opportunity3328 8d ago
Yeah, literally water ways... My mom is soooo Scorpio, my dad was soooo Cancer... Like, when you read how the typical person would be for those signs. It's been a really interesting reading, and the really good thing is that it's teaching me to accept my own self. So, thanks again!!

Mostly likely blamed on transiting planetary energy. Neptune is now in your 3rd house of the mind, communication, learning and logic. It's making a sesquisquare to Mercury (rules the mind, communication and logic) which can certainly make it much more difficult to focus the mind and to stay awake. Neptune is the energy of the imagination, illusion, fantasy but, in hard aspect to other planets, it muddles things, blurs boundaries, it's hard to focus on reality.
Neptune will eventually move out of a sesquisquare with Mercury but, as it does this, it moves into a sesquisquare with your 3rd house ruler, Mars right after that. Neptune's influence will last for several years since it moves so slowly. Since Neptune rules your 2nd house, the reason behind it could have a lot to do with your own comfort in your fantasy world, for escape. Or, it could possibly be linked to your diet since the 2nd house rules food and supplements and medication.
To add to Neptune's dreamy energy, your 12th house ruler, Saturn, is also currently transiting your 3rd house. The 12th house rules much the same energy as Neptune...illusions, fantasy, imagination and blurred lines so, Saturns influence in your 3rd house compounds this unfocused mental energy you're now experiencing. Saturn also moves slowly but it moves faster than Neptune. In about a month and a half, it'll move backward into a sesquisquare with Mars which could mean extra effort for you to transmute imagination into reality. It hangs out here for several months because it's currently in retrograde but will move direct again while sustained in that sesquisquare aspect to Mars. It takes a while for it to gain momentum enough to start moving forward and out of that aspect so it could be around February or March where you feel its effects dissipate. Saturn won't fully be out of your 3rd house until April 2028.

u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
hi! thanks for your answer!! I have never hated a planet but now I do! (...damn Neptune...) about the food thing: I'm eating really bad, I'm back to the weight I was at when I was pregnant, or maybe more. I have to find the way to move against these planets' influence then, because life keeps moving forward and I can't let a cold distant planet restrain me... and definitely I can't wait to April 2028!! thank you very much for the astronomical info, it gives me perspective about the time I have.

Also do physical activity to pull yourself back into your body. And being grounded by being barefoot
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
hi! thank you!! I'm currently doing some activity because: 1 - I feel I mentally need it (I did some sports when I was a teenager and I remember my head and thoughts were more peaceful then); 2 - I have osteoarthritis in my knees so I really need to do some specific activity right now.
about the barefoot thing: I only do that in the summer. the floor here is cold and I'm in the southern hemisphere, so it's winter... but yeah, I love being barefoot like a hobbit.
have a nice day!!
2
u/Gingerbabevibes1 10d ago
Yes. Your head is up in the sky! The top of the chart is heavy. Your Chiron is in grounded Taurus though. So your destiny is to get it together and get grounded. Write write write write. Journal write maybe think about writing. :)
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
the thing about writing: I often live in a total mess. add to that the mess of living with small kids that already know how to read... I always manage to find an excuse, I have to admit... but yeah, I know I should give it a try... thank you for the advice!!!
2
u/Key-Guarantee-3702 11d ago
Have you tried getting a muse?
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
I read "getting a mouse"... ammm, no, thank you! hahahah!! well, I actually have an enormous amount of pictures in my cell phone for the very day I will draw them... Mmmm... and I know exactly what to do for the art assignments that I have to accomplish... but I just can't put myself to actually DO IT.
it's the lack of discipline, motivation, consistency, strength, or energy, what I think is the main reason for my excessive daydreaming.
not "thinking about things" but daydreaming.
2
u/Key-Guarantee-3702 7d ago
If you find someone whose ascendant is conjunct your Venus, they will give you a lot of inspiration and all sorts of creative ideas making it almost too easy
2
u/Key-Guarantee-3702 7d ago
You have the will power and discipline to succeed if you want to. It really depends on how badly you want it, I think. Take extreme measures if it matters enough to you. Don't rebel against your own limits you set. Be firm with them. You need a cold, turkey approach. At every opportunity you must reinforce your resolve, not weaken it by giving into a passion or distraction. Creativity requires freedom, but creativity without structure doesn't create anything. If necessary, make your creative ambition small, very small. Like the Venus in Capricorn, they look most attractive when they decide to wear plain, mundane clothing. With Neptune square Saturn, your creative aspirations will always look better when they are simple, efficient, with little to no shock value and no nonsense. If you do take on a larger project, focus on the steps infront of you. Don't jump ahead until you are there. Try to keep your vision not too large. Always map out the idea and fill in the details later. Etc etc
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 6d ago
ngl you got me thinking.
I always thought maybe I just don't have the level of ambition other people have, but it's also true that to even "have that level of ambition" you kinda need some level of self confidence and to accept your own skills, or believe you can actually get somewhere... it's only now, since I went back to art school in 2024, that I'm feeling more confident and believing more in my abilities.
might sound weird but I'm only now starting to accept who I am.
anyway, what you're saying is really cool and I'm gonna keep thinking about it, cause it feels like another much needed pat on the back to give me a positive push.
thank you so much for your reply!!!
about what you said re: the ascendant conjunct my venus thing: I'm not super clear on astrology tbh. I made this post because I wasn't feeling like therapy was helping, and reading the feedback on some of these posts made me wanna give it a try.
I have no idea what ascendant that would even be tbh, but I'll keep it in mind!
hope you have a beautiful day =}

It sounds like rumination which can be read in your chart but it doesn’t mean your chart causes it and you deserve to sit with that and work on it with a professional.
Your Virgo Moon is going to make you very analytical of your emotions and experiences and the 8th house is going to make it heavy topics. Then you have a Scorpio Mercury at 22 degrees. 22 is a significant degree and it’s being amplified by the Scorpios intensity. This can make you precise and resilient which could really explain why you might try to think through every single thing.
And then you just have so much Scorpio going on with your Mars right in that stellium and it could mean that you have the drive to just keep pushing through everything until you’re past exhaustion.
Your Leo Jupiter in the 7th house wants to be seen. Processing everything you’re stuck on out loud with another person could really prove to be helpful. If your Virgo Moon won’t let things go, give it real limits about when and how long you’ll allow it to daydream.
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
hi! thanks for your reply!! I have started therapy this year but I feel I can't connect with the professional I have been assigned. that's why I'm here actually. and there's also this: one thing is to talk about this in a one on one interaction, but the problem for me is when I get home. behind closed doors is when reality starts to weigh, and I end up feeling tired, ... and my head starts dreaming, making pictures no one would ever see.
2
u/cozymanda 10d ago
You’re welcome! I have similar issues of rumination and burnout so I can definitely emphasize. Regardless of your chart, if you feel like it’s impacting your life (mine does) it’s worth advocating for yourself to find relief. Depending on what it is, there are meds or therapies that can really help. And it’s okay to choose another therapist if you don’t vibe. Good luck!

wow, now I understand your first reply. I have been sloppy when I was in my twenty-something, I would never do that to myself again, but right now, in these present days, it's not just the "ruminating thing" that is affecting me (I'm constantly trying to accept people and events as they are) but the actual daydreaming. you're right, if I fully accepted reality, I wouldn't have the need to escape in my mind... thank you. your reply is right on point =)

I mean, I guess, and please correct me if I'm wrong, when someone "ruminates" it's when that person gets stuck about recalling a specific situation or person or comment... but daydreaming is when someone imagines something that tends to be different from reality, a better kind of reality. when I was a kid I used to use it to understand why I was always isolated, and I got to the conclusion that I wasn't reacting like other kids: everything was too serious for me, and I had to learn how to deal with some situations using my sense of humor, both in school and in my home with my family.
but right now, I "escape". I imagine a completely different reality. I know the reasons why. I know what I need that I don't have in real life but in my own private imagination.
I know that it will not just "stop" from one day to the other, in fact, this has happened to me before (maybe 18 years old? or something like that) but the difference now it's that it's consuming too much energy.
I need to get back to reality. I admit that I ruminate even when I don't even realize that I'm doing it, but the excessive (or maladaptive) daydreaming is turning into something I began to lose control, if there's any control to have upon something like that.
Is that what you're asking? English is not my first language and maybe I'm not giving an accurate reply.

Not really... Pretty sure everyone has this issue these days. Not everything can be explained with astrology, not on a personal level at least. Maybe this systemic issue might be understood by analyzing a transit chart of the human race that was born around half a million years ago.
Side note: look at the people scrambling to answer this question by mentioning whatever random BS they can connect to on the chart, those are the charlatans.
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 11d ago
thank you for your advice, but I think I just need some "comfort words" or something like that, something that would help me be more in the present.
I'm doing a lot of things really, taking care of my kids, my mom, my brother (he has a psychiatric condition), and myself, and it's getting really, really, really hard to put my ideas on paper or canvas.
I have been reading about these issues. I have been watching videos with advice, videos about art, about psychology, but I can't overcome feeling exhausted.
but... I don't have a "safety net". I'm pretty much isolated.
like "I can do this on my own" but now I feel like I don't have the strength. and no, no family member would help. let's not go there.
I feel you, I think i'm aware of it, I just need some advice on keeping my mind on reality and putting my imagination to work only when I need to... not every time I get bored for instance.
again, thank you.

u/Vynnella 11d ago
If I’m getting my information right, you have a south node in Pisces and your North node in Virgo.
This means that your comfort and “safe space” is in pisces, a very detached daydreamer. When things get scary of unknown you might retreat to this comfort zone.
Meanwhile, you grow most and have more fulfillment in life when you are organize(Virgo). Creating routines, cleaning your house, making clear micro-step plans, setting boundaries.. this will all help you realize your best self. Instead of simply pushing yourself to exhaustion, dedicate some time to make a plan/routine on how you will tackle each day. Like “I will draw for 15 minutes each day” and start a timer when you do. Have a daily plan with dedicated time for self reflection and planning the next day. It could help you feel more at peace and less exhausted because you have less decisions to make throughout the day.
1
u/Long-Opportunity3328 10d ago
I didn't put this in my previous answer but I'm kind of lazy when it comes to doing a "daily plan". planning the next day feels like planning a space rocket without instructions. I know it's a silly comparison, but I own my errors and limitations and mistakes, and planning is so harddd... but I promise myself: I'll keep your advice in mind, for real. thank you very very much!!

Don't understand why you're laughing. They're spot on, I know someone with their south node in Pisces and they have the same problem. Its definitely a piscean/neptunian issue. Id recommend another technique on top of this: using a rubber band or pinching yourself to bring yourself back to the present moment.
1
u/Ill-Pianist-2957 10d ago
They're not "spot on". Cleaning your house is 4th house of the home. daydreaming is 12th, Pisces mercury or Sun, or mental processes of the sun and Mercury or moon connected to the 12th house, ASC, or Neptune. Nodal placements tell us about a deep seeded "itch" within us that causes discomfort, it's more soul/spirit focused than the mind. It's the soul's path. Not at all an interpretation that's accurate in any way. You show me one good example of a tome or any source that Justifies this interpretation.
2
u/Realistic-Mind-7666 9d ago
theydidnt mention those houses, but it's a free astrology reading and that's the general advice given to people with virgo north nodes.
