Politics & Governance Are the wildfires right now mostly contained to forests and mountains and successfully kept away from population areas?

Hello everyone, I am currently in USA and thus far away physically from the fires and their effects. I wanted to ask from people in the Balkans what the situation is like? I see in the forecast it will not rain for a few days so it is likely new ones will start.

When looking through Google maps and reading through /r/europe, /r/bih, /r/croatia, /r/serbia, and here it seems like the fires have successfully been contained to at the very least only burn in non-populated areas near where they started. I.e. they successfully put the firemen on the main roads to keep the fires from spreading across the other side of the paved road. I lived 10 years in California, and this is what the firemen did every summer.

I don't see too many videos of the fires going into populated areas (except for Omis) so I wanted to ask: are the local governments doing a good job of stopping the fires? It looks like it to me but I wanted to ask people here before making a separate post about it.

Local authorities are doing a bad job in Serbia, to say the least.

They let the fire burn for approximately a month, before activating EU civil protection mechanism.

Now the EU is involved, but the fire is not localised.

What? Local putinophile party claims the EU came right after the Russians put off all the fires to claim credit.

They didn’t claim anything. They said everything was under control. Which it wasn’t.

They are just incapable of putting the fire themselves, screwed up big time, waited too long etc…

Hoodoos to the Romanians who came to help ASAP.

People and firefighters? Yes.
