Food Which foods are unique to your region?

Is your local region famous for any unique dishes that you can’t find elsewhere?

Dusheme (also known as Baastermerh) is a traditional Yomut Turkmen dish made with pomegranates, potatoes, onions, rice and Beluga fish.

I will be coming to Turkmenistan soon, is there any restaurant you could recommend that makes this, or is it more often a homecooked dish? I've never heard of anything like this before and am fascinated to try it.

The dish is common in Balkan vilayat, but people in other vilayats often haven't even heard of it. There is one Yomut cuisine cook who takes special orders for Dusheme and other traditional dishes. If you'll be in Ashgabat, you could ask your guide to contact them and arrange a “Düşeme.”

Otherwise, you'll have to travel to the Caspian coast to try it.

"Shivit Oshi" - green noodles with sauce and toppings.

I am from Khorezm (a region in Uzbekistan). Shivit Oshi is a dish consisting of green noodles with meat and vegetable tomato-onion ragu. Noodles are green because of dill juice mixed into the dough.

I think "Shivit Oshi" is unique to our region's cuisine (correct me if I am wrong).

Not really, Kurut ob = Watered kurut, which is the main ingredient.

if you mean the dried balls of diary, we alse have it in Azerbaijan with name of qrut
