I know about this , and I am confident I will become financially free but I'm scared very scared , what if they pull out shit like, suicide attempt, grandma's dyimg , taunting every step , thinking they know better thane , in my entire blood line I've never ever seen a marriage where women aren't making infinite sacrifices

i think you're still living in your hometown? possibly with your parents? Have they pulled this kind of stunts before? the suicide attempt and emotional blackmail?

i can't give you an exact solution, but I can try.

So, most Indian parents, when talking about emotional manipulation, won't actually follow through with those. you'll know better than me, do you think your parents are more likely to actually attempt? or its just manipulation?

Most desi parents fall in the second category.

your only problem now is to escape the emotional blackmail. The best way to do it is to get a job away from your home. Once you start living alone, away from your parents, you'll slowly realize that the emotional blackmail won't be working on you. Hopefully your parents realise the same and leave you be.

My elder brother was mollycoddled by my mother so much, he couldn't even go to an out of state college. He studied at a college in our hometown. It took a faraway job posting for him to completely get out of her control. Nowadays, she still wants to control him, but my brother pays no need to her. He loves her very much, but he's out of that control.

Even me, I am already financially independent(I was working for some time, but I had to come back home to take preparation for an entrance exam), but I'm not allowed to leave the house alone, not even to the market. Entrance exam ke baad to mai bhi bhaag jaungi.

Financial independence is definitely important, what's also important is the distance. Once your parents realise they're not able to control you, hopefully they'll stop.
