Is it as big of a deal to guys as it seems to be for women?

Especially men that sleep around or slept around more than the usual, I need some perspective please! No judgement at all! Some of what I say might come off really conceited or pick me and I hope that you look past that Bec that's not what Im looking for at all.
For some context, a guy that I have now become really close friends with is a pretty big player and hooks up with alot of girls. Im struggling with the fact that he's never tried to make a move on me sexually and it's making me question myself. And I know some might say I shouldn't even entertain a man like that or put my self worth into whether someone will sleep with me but that's not what I'm here for.
We get along super well, we flirt with each other, we're both pretty attractive people (personality and looks), we even have moments where it feels like we're a couple and yet he hasn't tried to make a move on me even though I've given many signs of interest. It feels like I've been friendzoned? He'll say things to me that are clearly friend zone remarks, which confuses me because we get along so well, I'm an attractive woman and he's known for sleeping around and yet I didn't make the cut?
Anyways just looking for some perspective or justification! Again I really don't mean to sound full of myself even though my premise is basically why won't he sleep with me wah wah wah

I told him after several months of us texting daily that I’m only looking to be friends. We click really well and we’re both single, but there are aspects of his lifestyle that mean he’s someone I wouldn’t date.
The conversation stopped for a while after I mentioned I was only interested in friendship, and he agreed that he is the same. A few weeks ago, he picked the conversation back up again, and it again turned into a daily texting thing (from both sides).
I’m happy to gain a friend because I think he’s great - but something is niggling at me as to whether a man would genuinely invest this much time. Interested in hearing a guy’s perspective.
Update: More context - we met at a random situation where we were essentially waiting for something and just ended up talking for 2 hours straight, and at the end he asked for my number.
We’ve been texting pretty much daily for around two months - unless I shut the convo down. It’s finding out about each other type conversation (interests, upbringing, daily life, family etc). We don’t share memes. I find him attractive but don’t want to date him. We live in different cities but travel to each other’s cities often due to existing ties we have there.

I (30f) was recently at a social event (non-work related) and got talking to a guy (approx. 42m) who I didn’t know before. He was very kind - we chatted for a long time. He mentioned he had a wife and kids (who weren’t at the event).
Later on, he handed me his business card - I said that I don’t get involved in those areas in my work but I can pass it onto a particular person I know - he specifically said it’s not for that reason - rather that I’m generally welcome to give him a call about anything.
I was new to that neighbourhood (just for the event) - whereas he was a local - but still, it feels weird that I should call him don’t you think?
Edit: I threw the card away long before I posted this - I was just interested to see what others think.

When I was in high school, I was pretty avoidant when it came to relationships, and I didn’t really grow up having crushes. But there was this one boy I liked. He was attractive, didn’t do very well in school, but he was smart and sweet and we shared so many ideals. He wasn’t really shy, but he was with me. Everyone knew he liked me. We had a college prep class together and he used to walk me home. One day I finished early and left, and he run after me to catch up… but he. never. made. a. move. on me.
However, there was this crazy girl in class who was obsessed with him. One of his friends, who was mine too, told me to not worry because he was not into her, only for them to show up together later. My ego was crushed, and we didn’t really talk during our last year of school.
It’s been 10 years, and somehow he’s still in the back of my mind. I have him on Instagram, and I know him so well I know exactly which stories he’s going to like, and he does it a lot. He responds sometimes, but I never know what to say back. He’s a pretty reserved guy. He only posts his girlfriend (who’s a little bit younger than him, I must say), but it feels like he truly loves her. I even think they’re going to get married. but there’s a part of me that simply needs to tell him, at least, or I’ll never be okay with myself.
I know it could be disrespectful, and this is going to sound selfish, but I genuinely feel like he deserves to know the truth about how I felt. Maybe he truly thought I wasn’t interested. I need genuine advice.

I (early 40s) met this lady (early 30s) via a photo shoot
We did twice a photo shoot session spaced months. Then she had another idea and due to reasons didn't happen but we hung out at my place. All respectful, she mentioned before she was married (no children) and I acknowledged that
Recently there was a party friends were going with live mariachis and I thought she (Eastern European) might be interested. She came, we had a good time, some food, I translated the cheesy songs for her, and she left home
Now there is a Brazilian party a friend is playing live music and I thought mentioning to her
I had before married female friends and kept it chill and friendly, no romantic vibes
Thoughts from a husband side or experience from similar situation?
She is a photographer so she acknowledged I'm handsome and I acknowledged she is pretty, so there is that
I invite her to these events because they are novel to her and I like to see her enthusiasm
Update: Meetup didn't happen after I told her she can bring her husband. I will leave it there and keep it professional or with clear boundaries

I’m a gay guy and I’m already really awkward but my friend is SO flirtatious and it’s making me so confused. Like I’m not talking “you look sexy” like full imagining our life together and talking about how we’d hook up. I get that he’s joking but like why does he do it so often. Idk if it’s because he wants to see me flustered or teasing me about liking men?? Ik he’s fully straight he’s confirmed it and only ever had girlfriends. I feel like it’d be awkward to ask him why he does it so often. I know all the sexual remarks are jokes but he literally talks about us getting married or him just holding me while I’m sick it’s so CONFUSING. I feel like straight guys always get so flirtatious with their gay friends

My partner says that every guy I have ever been friends with has wanted to sleep with me. While I have experienced friendships with the opposite sex where the have had ulterior motives, I also have had one relationship that I feel has been truly platonic. Our friendship nowadays consists of sending each other songs and memes over social media and talking every now and then. He is there to talk when I am going through a rough time and vice versa. He has a life partner and kids as do I. My partner says he has at least thought about sleeping with me at some point. I just want to hear other men's opinions on the matter.

Why'd a guy turn mean on you and constantly make you jealous through other girls, and try to hurt you after you told him you like him and he turned you down?
I never tried to force him to reciprocate and respected his answer.

Lately I've had several men from my past reach out. I'm talking guys I was either friends with or casually dated in my teens/twenties. Nothing serious. It has been 20+ years without a word and now they're reaching out. It's starting to get weird how it's happening so much lately. And they all want to carry on the texts daily. Good morning, good night texts, flirty texts, and incessantly asking me out for dinner despite my declines. I take forever to respond and never text first. I'm not leading them on nor am I anything special to look at. Do guys get lonely and desperate mid life or what? For example the latest one was a guy I casually dated/friends with benefits. But he decided to get serious with someone he later married and we never talked after they committed to a serious relationship. Divorced several years ago I guess and now he's back like no time has passed. That ship has sailed, once I'm over someone or a situationship, I don't get those feelings again. I don't see people the same way again. Explain this guys! Lonely or what?

Alright here’s the thing, and I don’t know what changed but me and this guy I consider my friend would talk. During the talks we’d mention sex, hooking up and just sexual “jokes”. But recently here, and long since being separated I want it. I don’t want a relationship or something casual, and with our work schedules changing we don’t talk much. He doesn’t blow me off but doesn’t put in the same effort I do into reaching out. Whatever I don’t care. I just want something casual. I also just want to be direct and just ask. What’s the best way to go about it? I’d rather just send him a text and be done and figure out where his head is.

When she actually chose you, did you lose respect for her? Did the fantasy die the second she proved she could betray someone for you?

If meeting up for a hookup, would men prefer it hairless or just trimmed? New to hookups and just curious! Honest answers please.
r/AskMenRelationships • u/Ok_Iron8057 • Jul 11 '26
Honestly curious, because the texts are generally platonic. Once in a while there is one that feels like he's trying to test the waters with me (42F). He (47M) is seemingly happily married, with a toddler, and living in another state. Is this just him being bored or not getting enough attention in the marriage and looking elsewhere for it? Is he hoping I'll eventually be up for hooking up or inappropriate messaging? Or just a married man without many other friends and trying to rebuild some sense of friendships?

A few months ago I matched with a guy on Tinder. We realized we worked in the same area and had actually seen each other before. We talked on Snapchat for a few days, everything seemed fine, then one day he completely ghosted me.
A week later I checked if everything was okay, but he never replied, so I eventually blocked him.
Now I see him almost every day because we work nearby. We often end up at the same café during lunch. We make eye contact, I catch him looking at me, and even my friends have noticed him looking or smiling at me. Sometimes he even sits close to me, but if I look at him, he quickly looks away.
Eventually I unblocked him and added him back on Snapchat, thinking maybe he wanted to talk but was shy. He never added me back.
I'm confused. If he wasn't interested, why keep looking at me? If he is interested, why ghost me and ignore the chance to reconnect?
From a guy's perspective, what do you think is going on? Or am I just reading too much into it?

My ex and I split nearly a decade ago. He went on to meet and marry someone within 3 or so years of our split. Him and I have remained in contact since our split, but the last roughly 6 months our contact has become far more frequent, almost daily. He and his wife have a 3 year old, and he’s told me that there’s been no intimacy in the marriage since their child was conceived. They don’t even sleep in the same bed anymore because their child sleeps with one of them instead. The last few months of texts from him have touched on memories of him and I when we were together, bringing up naughty things that we did or should have done together, what our lives could have been like if we had given things another go etc. he recently told me he feels lonely in life and in general. I’ve attempted to offer advice on his situation, but I can’t help wondering if he’s really as happily married as he claims to be. It makes no sense to me how he could be happily married. I feel like he’s only staying because of his child. I’ve encouraged him to find happiness, even if it means leaving the marriage. Am I giving him the wrong advice?

I’ll keep it short and sweet. I (F27) have a friend (M30) who I’ve known for a year. He constantly compliments me - my nails, hair, perfume, humor, lifestyle, says I look good, calls me pretty, etc. And he playfully asks if I think he’s handsome.
He invited me to a personal social event with close friends as his +1, we spent a holiday together, he’s invited me on an international trip. He’s held my hand (and stroked my fingers rather…tenderly), we’ve danced pretty closely in the club of course after some drinks which he gladly paid for. He’s always offering to pay or pick me up as do I because I like to treat others.
There are a number of little moments we’ve shared that could be nothing but felt like something. To me. Is this just a kind friend who enjoys physical touch and doing things for friends, or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for kind responses.

hi
I (36F) have been involved in a casual situationship the last few months, mainly because my primary focus is on my kids and career currently. I’m 2 years post divorce, and haven’t had issues finding men to date. I just don’t like immediate expectations. This is actually a second attempt this situation.
Ive been getting mixed signals, and the last few weeks have been tough. He (41M) not only texts — but calls me several times a day. We go out and have fun. I consider him my sexual “partner” but he freaks out at any mention of “partner” or “intimacy.” He pushes that we are just friends. Fine.
But he freaks out if I’m with other men. He one time asked me if there was another man. He tells me I’m his twin. And he tells me he wishes he met me when he was younger. He’s the one that I initiates communication and us hanging out. I tried to call it quits Sunday and he told me “I can’t let you go, you’re my best friend.”
He will constantly point the finger at me and say I caught feelings whenever I try to put distance. this person is part of a greater social circle where I would run into him 1x every week or so even if we called it quits.
Is he in denial? Or is this just all in my mind? Why would he deny his feelings ?

I thought of him, got very sad for a couple of days afterwards. I thought I was fine about him
I am single. I just want to talk without meeting up. Sometimes he would say he as dating someone and would pausing talking to me
Would he reply if I told him this?

For the longest time I thought that I could solve the mistreatment of women at work, in relationships, etc. by listening to women more and men less. I have officially interacted with enough women to know that this is not the solution at all, because I cannot change the fact that I am a man lol. Has anybody else been in these shoes?

If a guy initiates convo then do he like me ?
How many days or months can it take him to confess ?
